Zspeedaccuracy question
Hello everyone, I'm doing some work on validating some data to do with the zpseed functionality around corelocations, i've read up on the speedaccuracy field but the wording doesn't make sense to me. It says if its a positive number it is plus or minus the value in the zspeed column so would this be for example zspeed of 35 mps with an accuracy of 3 mps would it be 32 mps 38 mps or is it a range? so would it be anywhere between 32-38 mps. Or is it just plus or minus the 3mps and if this is the case how would it be worked out if its plus or minus when all the numbers will be a positive numbers as any negative numbers are deemed inaccurate ?

CloudKit is not synchronizing with coredata for relationships
In core-data I have a contact and location entity. I have one-to-many relationship from contact to locations and one-to-one from location to contact. I create contact in a seperate view and save it. However for CD_Location it creates the relationship CD_contact as a string and references the CD_Contact. This I thought should have come as REFERENCE On the CD_Contact there is no CD_locations field at all. I do see the relationships being printed on coredata side but it does not come as REFERENCE on cloudkit. Spent over a day on this. Is this normal, what am I doing wrong here? Can someone advise?

Hide OS logs coming out of the Network framework (category: com.apple.network)
I'm establishing a connection with NWListener and NWConnection which is working great. However, if the listener disappears, a lot of logs are appearing: Is there a way to hide these logs? I'm aware of OS_ACTIVITY_MODE=disabled, but that will also hide a lot of other logs. I also know you can hide these using Xcode's filtering. I'm looking for a programmatically way to hide these completely. I'm not interested in seeing these at all, or, at least, I want to be in control. Thanks!

Can NEFilterControlProvider Be Used Without MDM in ADEP Distribution?
Hi~ I implemented network filtering on iOS using NEFilterControlProvider and NEFilterDataProvider. However, I found that their usage is restricted when distributing through the App Store. Does ADEP-based distribution allow the use of NEFilterControlProvider and NEFilterDataProvider? In TN3134, it states that NEPacketTunnelProvider requires MDM. Should I assume that NEFilterControlProvider and NEFilterDataProvider also require MDM in the same way? Thanks

StoreKit Subscription Fails to Load During App Review, Works in Sandbox/TestFlight
Hi everyone, I’m facing a recurring issue with my macOS app being rejected during App Store review, and I’d really appreciate any guidance. The subscription flow in my app is implemented using StoreKit, and everything works perfectly in our development environment using a StoreKit configuration file. It also behaves as expected in Sandbox testing and TestFlight — I even had few beta testers confirm that the subscription information is displayed correctly and the purchase flow completes without issues. All required subscription details are configured in App Store Connect: • Subscription duration and the description of the services offered • Price and price per unit where applicable • Paid apps agreement and related forms are correctly filled However, when the app is submitted for review, the subscription screen fails to display the expected information. From what I can tell, the product information fails to load from the App Store in the review environment — even though everything is working fine on our side. We’ve already submitted a video to Apple showing the subscription UI working in the Sandbox environment, but the app continues to be rejected under guideline 3.1.2 due to missing subscription info in the binary. Is anyone else experiencing similar behavior during review? Could there be a caching issue or delay in StoreKit syncing for newly configured products? Any help or suggestions are very welcome. Storing logs from application written in Swift visible on real device
I folks, I have an application that is already available in production and I would like to store some logs to the app, so that on real device I will see outputs for better tracing. iOS13 would be fine, but I can migrate it into e.g. iOS 14. The next question is where to find logs on real devices, so that users can send me for tracing. Thanks Petr

Cannot enable Calldirectory Extension
Hello, I recently created an app with the Calldirectory Extension. It worked all good as long as I was on my development iphone. I tried to install the app on my privat iphone (same phone/same os version), but then I faced an issue. I couldn't enable the Calldirectory Extension with an error (Error Enabling Extension Failed to request data for APPNAME. You may try enabling the extension again, and if the problem persists, conatact the application developer.)

Filtering MMS Messages with Multimedia Content (Images, Videos, etc.)
Hi Apple Developer, I’m working on a message-filtering application and reviewing Apple's documentation on message filtering. The documentation clearly states that MMS messages can be filtered. (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/identitylookup/sms-and-mms-message-filtering) When we refer to MMS, it includes images, short videos, and other supported multimedia formats. However, the ILMessageFilterQueryRequest only provides the message body as a String, meaning we can access text and links but not images or other media files. Could you please confirm whether Apple allows third-party applications to access multimedia content sent from unknown numbers? Looking forward to your quick response. Thanks, Rijul Singhal

I did watch WWDC 2019 Session 716 and understand that an active audio session is key to unlocking low‑level networking on watchOS. Core Data and Swift 6 concurrency: returning an NSManagedObject
We're in the process of migrating our app to the Swift 6 language mode. I have hit a road block that I cannot wrap my head around, and it concerns Core Data and how we work with NSManagedObject instances. When turning on Swift 6 language mode, however, the compiler complains about the line calling the controller method: Non-sendable result type 'Person?' cannot be sent from nonisolated context in call to instance method 'fetchPerson(byName:)' Ok, fair enough, NSManagedObject is not Sendable. No biggie, just add @MainActor to the controller method, so it can be called from view controllers which are also main actor. However, now the compiler shows the same error at the controller method calling viewContext.perform: Non-sendable result type 'Person?' cannot be sent from nonisolated context in call to instance method 'perform(schedule:_:)' And now I'm stumped. Does this mean NSManageObject instances cannot even be returned from calls to NSManagedObjectContext.perform? Ever? Even though in this case, @MainActor matches the context's actor isolation (since it's the view context)? Of course, in this simple example the controller method could just return the age directly, and more complex scenarios could return Sendable data structures that are instantiated inside the perform closure. But is that really the only legal solution? That would mean a huge refactoring challenge for our app, since we use NSManageObject instances fetched from the view context everywhere. That's what the view context is for, right? tl;dr: is it possible to return NSManagedObject instances fetched from the view context with Swift 6 strict concurrency enabled, and if so how?

Detect if a file or folder is synced by cloud providers (Google Drive, iCloud, OneDrive, Dropbox, etc.) in iOS (all versions)
Hi all, I’m building an iOS app where I need to determine user picked files or folders using UIDocumentPickerViewController, whether the selected item is synced or managed by a cloud storage provider such as: Google Drive iCloud Drive OneDrive Dropbox or any third-party File Provider extension My intent is to detect this and optionally warn the user that the item may be subject to syncing behavior. So far, I’ve tried a few different approaches: Extended Attributes (listxattr / getxattr) While this does not give reliable outcome. Heuristically search for keywords like 'Drive', 'GoogleDrive' etc But this is also not reliable. Question Is there any possible reliable and documented way to detect programmatically if a file/folder is cloud-synced or managed by a File Provider from within a regular iOS app (not an extension), especially for: Google Drive OneDrive Dropbox iCloud Other third-party providers? Also, is there any recommended fallback strategy for iOS versions prior to 17 where NSFileProviderManager may have limitations? Any input from Apple engineers or those who have tackled this would be hugely appreciated! Thanks in advance 🙌

healthStore.workoutSessionMirroringStartHandler never called
I'm trying to run this example project: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/HealthKit/building-a-multidevice-workout-app When I run it on my device (iPhone 16 Pro and Apple Watch Ultra 2) I get this error: -[SPRemoteInterface _appRecoverAnyExtendedRuntimeSession:]_block_invoke:4350: Got no sessions back from -[CSLSSessionService existingRunningSessions:] or -[CSLSSessionService existingScheduledSessions:] after receiving a PUICInitializeSessionServiceAction I start the workout from my phone, which successfully starts the workout on the watch. But this callback is never triggered on the phone: healthStore.workoutSessionMirroringStartHandler { // not happening } This makes it difficult to learn the mirroring workout technique. I'm using Xcode 16.3 and Mac OS 15.4.1. Any help appreciated!

connect() iOS 18.5 Developer Beta (22EF5042g)
Hello! 👋 I am noticing new failures in the iOS 18.5 Developer Beta build (22EF5042g) when calling the system call connect() (from C++ source, in network extension). When using cell/mobile data (Mint & T-Mobile) this returns with EINTR (interrupted system call) right away. When I switch over to wifi, everything works fine. Note: I have not tested on other mobile carriers; which could make a difference since T-Mobile/Mint are IPv6 networks. FWIW, this is working in the previous developer beta (18.4). Anyone have any ideas?

StoreKit 2: jwsRepresentation Validation, Rate-Limit Relief, and Send Consumption Info Effectiveness
Hi everyone, We operate an online game where all in-app assets are stored server-side and require a logged-in account (no device binding). I’d like guidance on four areas: Do we really need deviceVerification / deviceVerificationNonce? – Because every purchase is tied to an account and we enforce a global transactionId UNIQUE constraint, replay or cross-account reuse appears infeasible. Under these conditions, is omitting device verification acceptable, or are there situations where Apple still recommends it? Permanent rate-limit increase for the App Store Server API – During anniversary events we saw bursts of ~18 000 requests per hour, breaching the current hourly cap on the App Store Server API (verifyTransaction, getNotificationHistory, etc.). Is there a formal process to request a long-term rate-limit expansion (or an alternative tier) from Apple? When is an App Store Server API call required for a StoreKit 2 jwsRepresentation? Docs say “call the API if you’re unsure,” but there’s no clear cut-off. Because we fully validate the JWS signature plus the entire certificate chain (including CRL/OCSP checks) on our server, local cryptographic validation seems sufficient for consumables. For subscriptions we still plan to hit the API to fetch the latest status. Does this separation match Apple’s best practice? If Apple does recommend hitting the API for consumables as well, we’d like a concrete rule of thumb—e.g. “if the item price is USD 50 or higher, always use the API.” Is establishing such thresholds consistent with Apple’s intent? Refund-risk reduction from Send Consumption Info – Adapty reports a 40–60 % refund-rate drop for subscriptions when using Send Consumption Info (blog reference). Can we expect similar reduction for consumable IAP in social/online games? Any real-world results would be helpful. Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Multicast Network, Unexpected Interfaces, and Binding to Specific Interfaces
Firstly, I'm completely new to native Swift/iOS Development so apologies if this is a simple question that I'm seemingly misunderstanding. I have an app which has the Multicast Networking entitlement and works fine on my own iPhone, however it only has one interface when I list them (en0) The multicast networking, however, fails entirely on another test iPhone but this also appears to have one or more 'ipsecX' interfaces both with the IP 192.0.0.6 - I'm guessing but I wonder if this is related to a connection to Apple Watch as I've noticed two devices that have these additional interfaces, and both of them are connected to Apple Watch (with no VPNs configured) and that's the only thing that differentiates them from my own iPhone. I feel I must be missing something simple, because it should not be the case that simply enabling a VPN (or having another interface created by something else) breaks Multicast on en0/WiFi. That said, I also don't want to limit the user to en0 as they may wish to use Ethernet interfaces, but for now it would be good to make it work to confirm this is the problem.

why can a dylib missing dependency still be loaded?
good.load_commands.txt I bad.load_commands.txt have two dylibs built with different parameters on different machines. Both have the same dependency(@rpath/libc++.dylib). When @rpath/libc++.dylib is missing, one of them can still be laoded via dlopen with RTLD_NOW, and I want to understand why. Additional infomation: Both dylibs are the same architecture(arm64) They had identical LC_RPATH settings. But I've removed them via install_name_tool just to simplify the problem. Through otool -l to view load commands, I can't find any differnent between them except they had different libSystem.B.dylib version. And then,I through setting DYLD_PRINT_SEARCHING=1 and load them. SwiftData and iCloud
I'm a first time developer for Swift, (getting on a bit!) but after programming in VB back in the late 90s I wanted to write an app for iPhone. I think I might have gone about it the wrong way, but I've got an app that works great on my iPhone or works great on my iPad. It saves the data persistently on device, but, no matter how much I try, what I read and even resorting to AI (ChatGPT & Gemini) I still can't get it to save the data on iCloud to synchronise between the two and work across the devices. I think it must be something pretty fundamental I'm doing (or more likely not doing) that is causing the issue. I'm setting up my signing and capabilities as per the available instructions but I always get a fatal error. I think it might be something to do with making fields optional, but at this point I'm second guessing myself and feeling a complete failure. Any advice or pointers would be really gratefully appreciated. I like my app and would like eventually to get it on the App Store but at this point in time I feel it should be on the failed projects heap! I've even tried a new Xcode project for iOS and asking it to use SwiftData and CloudKit - the default project should work - right? But it absolutely doesn't for me. Please send help!!

However for CD_Location it creates the relationship CD_contact as a string and references the CD_Contact. This I thought should have come as REFERENCE On the CD_Contact there is no CD_locations field at all. I do see the relationships being printed on coredata side but it does not come as REFERENCE on cloudkit. Spent over a day on this. Is this normal, what am I doing wrong here? Can someone advise?

Hide OS logs coming out of the Network framework (category: com.apple.network)
I'm establishing a connection with NWListener and NWConnection which is working great. However, if the listener disappears, a lot of logs are appearing: Is there a way to hide these logs? I'm aware of OS_ACTIVITY_MODE=disabled, but that will also hide a lot of other logs. I also know you can hide these using Xcode's filtering. I'm looking for a programmatically way to hide these completely. I'm not interested in seeing these at all, or, at least, I want to be in control. Thanks!

Can NEFilterControlProvider Be Used Without MDM in ADEP Distribution?
Hi~ I implemented network filtering on iOS using NEFilterControlProvider and NEFilterDataProvider. However, I found that their usage is restricted when distributing through the App Store. Does ADEP-based distribution allow the use of NEFilterControlProvider and NEFilterDataProvider? In TN3134, it states that NEPacketTunnelProvider requires MDM. Should I assume that NEFilterControlProvider and NEFilterDataProvider also require MDM in the same way? Thanks

StoreKit Subscription Fails to Load During App Review, Works in Sandbox/TestFlight
Hi everyone, I’m facing a recurring issue with my macOS app being rejected during App Store review, and I’d really appreciate any guidance. The subscription flow in my app is implemented using StoreKit, and everything works perfectly in our development environment using a StoreKit configuration file. It also behaves as expected in Sandbox testing and TestFlight — I even had few beta testers confirm that the subscription information is displayed correctly and the purchase flow completes without issues. All required subscription details are configured in App Store Connect: • Subscription duration and the description of the services offered • Price and price per unit where applicable • Paid apps agreement and related forms are correctly filled However, when the app is submitted for review, the subscription screen fails to display the expected information. From what I can tell, the product information fails to load from the App Store in the review environment — even though everything is working fine on our side. We’ve already submitted a video to Apple showing the subscription UI working in the Sandbox environment, but the app continues to be rejected under guideline 3.1.2 due to missing subscription info in the binary. Is anyone else experiencing similar behavior during review? Could there be a caching issue or delay in StoreKit syncing for newly configured products? Any help or suggestions are very welcome. Storing logs from application written in Swift visible on real device
I folks, I have an application that is already available in production and I would like to store some logs to the app, so that on real device I will see outputs for better tracing. iOS13 would be fine, but I can migrate it into e.g. iOS 14. Cannot enable Calldirectory Extension
Hello, I recently created an app with the Calldirectory Extension. It worked all good as long as I was on my development iphone. I tried to install the app on my privat iphone (same phone/same os version), but then I faced an issue. I couldn't enable the Calldirectory Extension with an error (Error Enabling Extension Failed to request data for APPNAME. You may try enabling the extension again, and if the problem persists, conatact the application developer.)

Filtering MMS Messages with Multimedia Content (Images, Videos, etc.)
Hi Apple Developer, I’m working on a message-filtering application and reviewing Apple's documentation on message filtering. The documentation clearly states that MMS messages can be filtered. (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/identitylookup/sms-and-mms-message-filtering) When we refer to MMS, it includes images, short videos, and other supported multimedia formats. However, the ILMessageFilterQueryRequest only provides the message body as a String, meaning we can access text and links but not images or other media files. SwiftData and SpotLight Search

Core Data and Swift 6 concurrency: returning an NSManagedObject
We're in the process of migrating our app to the Swift 6 language mode. I have hit a road block that I cannot wrap my head around, and it concerns Core Data and how we work with NSManagedObject instances. When turning on Swift 6 language mode, however, the compiler complains about the line calling the controller method: Non-sendable result type 'Person?' cannot be sent from nonisolated context in call to instance method 'fetchPerson(byName:)' Ok, fair enough, NSManagedObject is not Sendable. No biggie, just add @MainActor to the controller method, so it can be called from view controllers which are also main actor. However, now the compiler shows the same error at the controller method calling viewContext.perform: Non-sendable result type 'Person?' cannot be sent from nonisolated context in call to instance method 'perform(schedule:_:)' And now I'm stumped. Does this mean NSManageObject instances cannot even be returned from calls to NSManagedObjectContext.perform? Ever? Even though in this case, @MainActor matches the context's actor isolation (since it's the view context)? Of course, in this simple example the controller method could just return the age directly, and more complex scenarios could return Sendable data structures that are instantiated inside the perform closure. But is that really the only legal solution? That would mean a huge refactoring challenge for our app, since we use NSManageObject instances fetched from the view context everywhere. That's what the view context is for, right? tl;dr: is it possible to return NSManagedObject instances fetched from the view context with Swift 6 strict concurrency enabled, and if so how?

Detect if a file or folder is synced by cloud providers (Google Drive, iCloud, OneDrive, Dropbox, etc.) in iOS (all versions)
Hi all, I’m building an iOS app where I need to determine user picked files or folders using UIDocumentPickerViewController, whether the selected item is synced or managed by a cloud storage provider such as: Google Drive iCloud Drive OneDrive Dropbox or any third-party File Provider extension My intent is to detect this and optionally warn the user that the item may be subject to syncing behavior. So far, I’ve tried a few different approaches: Extended Attributes (listxattr / getxattr) While this does not give reliable outcome. Heuristically search for keywords like 'Drive', 'GoogleDrive' etc But this is also not reliable. Question Is there any possible reliable and documented way to detect programmatically if a file/folder is cloud-synced or managed by a File Provider from within a regular iOS app (not an extension), especially for: Google Drive OneDrive Dropbox iCloud Other third-party providers? Also, is there any recommended fallback strategy for iOS versions prior to 17 where NSFileProviderManager may have limitations? Any input from Apple engineers or those who have tackled this would be hugely appreciated! Thanks in advance 🙌

healthStore.workoutSessionMirroringStartHandler never called
I'm trying to run this example project: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/HealthKit/building-a-multidevice-workout-app When I run it on my device (iPhone 16 Pro and Apple Watch Ultra 2) I get this error: -[SPRemoteInterface _appRecoverAnyExtendedRuntimeSession:]_block_invoke:4350: Got no sessions back from -[CSLSSessionService existingRunningSessions:] or -[CSLSSessionService existingScheduledSessions:] after receiving a PUICInitializeSessionServiceAction I start the workout from my phone, which successfully starts the workout on the watch. But this callback is never triggered on the phone: healthStore.workoutSessionMirroringStartHandler { // not happening } This makes it difficult to learn the mirroring workout technique. I'm using Xcode 16.3 and Mac OS 15.4.1. Any help appreciated!

connect() iOS 18.5 Developer Beta (22EF5042g)
Hello! 👋 I am noticing new failures in the iOS 18.5 Developer Beta build (22EF5042g) when calling the system call connect() (from C++ source, in network extension). When using cell/mobile data (Mint & T-Mobile) this returns with EINTR (interrupted system call) right away. When I switch over to wifi, everything works fine. Note: I have not tested on other mobile carriers; which could make a difference since T-Mobile/Mint are IPv6 networks. FWIW, this is working in the previous developer beta (18.4). Anyone have any ideas?

StoreKit 2: jwsRepresentation Validation, Rate-Limit Relief, and Send Consumption Info Effectiveness
Hi everyone, We operate an online game where all in-app assets are stored server-side and require a logged-in account (no device binding). I’d like guidance on four areas: Do we really need deviceVerification / deviceVerificationNonce? – Because every purchase is tied to an account and we enforce a global transactionId UNIQUE constraint, replay or cross-account reuse appears infeasible. Under these conditions, is omitting device verification acceptable, or are there situations where Apple still recommends it? Permanent rate-limit increase for the App Store Server API – During anniversary events we saw bursts of ~18 000 requests per hour, breaching the current hourly cap on the App Store Server API (verifyTransaction, getNotificationHistory, etc.). Is there a formal process to request a long-term rate-limit expansion (or an alternative tier) from Apple? When is an App Store Server API call required for a StoreKit 2 jwsRepresentation? Docs say “call the API if you’re unsure,” but there’s no clear cut-off. Because we fully validate the JWS signature plus the entire certificate chain (including CRL/OCSP checks) on our server, local cryptographic validation seems sufficient for consumables. For subscriptions we still plan to hit the API to fetch the latest status. Does this separation match Apple’s best practice? If Apple does recommend hitting the API for consumables as well, we’d like a concrete rule of thumb—e.g. “if the item price is USD 50 or higher, always use the API.” Is establishing such thresholds consistent with Apple’s intent? Refund-risk reduction from Send Consumption Info – Adapty reports a 40–60 % refund-rate drop for subscriptions when using Send Consumption Info (blog reference). Can we expect similar reduction for consumable IAP in social/online games? Any real-world results would be helpful. Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Multicast Network, Unexpected Interfaces, and Binding to Specific Interfaces
Firstly, I'm completely new to native Swift/iOS Development so apologies if this is a simple question that I'm seemingly misunderstanding. I have an app which has the Multicast Networking entitlement and works fine on my own iPhone, however it only has one interface when I list them (en0) The multicast networking, however, fails entirely on another test iPhone but this also appears to have one or more 'ipsecX' interfaces both with the IP 192.0.0.6 - I'm guessing but I wonder if this is related to a connection to Apple Watch as I've noticed two devices that have these additional interfaces, and both of them are connected to Apple Watch (with no VPNs configured) and that's the only thing that differentiates them from my own iPhone. why can a dylib missing dependency still be loaded?
good.load_commands.txt I bad.load_commands.txt have two dylibs built with different parameters on different machines. Both have the same dependency(@rpath/libc++.dylib). When @rpath/libc++.dylib is missing, one of them can still be laoded via dlopen with RTLD_NOW, and I want to understand why. Additional infomation: Both dylibs are the same architecture(arm64) They had identical LC_RPATH settings. But I've removed them via install_name_tool just to simplify the problem. Through otool -l to view load commands, I can't find any differnent between them except they had different libSystem.B.dylib version. And then,I through setting DYLD_PRINT_SEARCHING=1 and load them. SwiftData and iCloud
I'm a first time developer for Swift, (getting on a bit!) but after programming in VB back in the late 90s I wanted to write an app for iPhone. I think I might have gone about it the wrong way, but I've got an app that works great on my iPhone or works great on my iPad. It saves the data persistently on device, but, no matter how much I try, what I read and even resorting to AI (ChatGPT & Gemini) I still can't get it to save the data on iCloud to synchronise between the two and work across the devices. I think it must be something pretty fundamental I'm doing (or more likely not doing) that is causing the issue. I'm setting up my signing and capabilities as per the available instructions but I always get a fatal error. I think it might be something to do with making fields optional, but at this point I'm second guessing myself and feeling a complete failure. Any advice or pointers would be really gratefully appreciated. I like my app and would like eventually to get it on the App Store but at this point in time I feel it should be on the failed projects heap! I've even tried a new Xcode project for iOS and asking it to use SwiftData and CloudKit - the default project should work - right? But it absolutely doesn't for me. Please send help!!
