Not Showing FileOpen with Document-
I have developed several document-based (NSDocument) applications for macOS is Cocoa. Now, I'm playing with a document app project in SwiftUI. If I launch the application out of box, a file-select panel will open just as you see in TextEdit. (Please see the picture below) How do we prevent it from appearing? I would rather show a blank window, which in fact appears if I just press Command + N. Thanks.

Behavior of Drawings in Portrait/Landscape Mode
The app provides a simple drawing functionality on a canvas without using a storyboard. After creating drawings in portrait mode, rotating the simulator or the iPad-Device to landscape mode does not update or rescale the existing drawings to fit the newly expanded canvas area. The app can also be launched directly in landscape mode, allowing drawings to be created before rotating the device back to portrait mode. However, the issue persists, with the drawings not adjusting to the new canvas dimensions. The goal is to achieve the same behavior as in the Apple Notes app: when the iPad is rotated, the drawings should adjust to the newly expanded or reduced canvas area. I would appreciate any suggestions or solutions. Sample Projekt [https://github.com/GG88IOS/Test_Drawing_App)

Handle double click on a file associated with my application
When my application starts up I want to check if the application starts because of double click in Finder, or open file in Finder. If the file is opened from Finder I will not show Welcome screen and open directly the file. But if there is no such file it will show Welcome screen. I can register for kAEOpenDocuments but I had to wait for the event to be triggered and how long should I wait. What would be the proper way to handle this

Why app clips card action not open the main app while main app is installed?
App Clip target is added to my main app, and set associated domains such as appclips:example.com both in clip and main app. 2.Register local launch experience with url prefix https://example.com in my IPhone device. 3.Generate a QR code with this url. When scanning the QR code ,a clip card popped up, but clip the open action button ,always laugh clip not the main app although main app is already installed. How should I test the clip card to the main app route to check if the main app process the url rightly? Any suggestions are welcome.

SwiftUI Button is not tappable if an Image is followed in a VStack
Here is the code: import SwiftUI struct ContentView: View { var body: some View { VStack(alignment: .leading, spacing: 8) { Button(action: { print("Tapped the button") }, label: { Text("Button") .foregroundStyle(Color.white) .padding() .background(Color.gray) }) .border(Color.green, width: 2) Image(systemName: "square.and.arrow.up") .resizable() .aspectRatio(contentMode: .fill) .foregroundStyle(Color.black) .frame(height: 240) .border(Color.blue, width: 2) .clipped() } .padding() .border(Color.black, width: 2) } } #Preview { ContentView() } The problem is that the button is not tappable. Test environment: macOS 15.3.2 (24D81), Xcode Version 16.2 (16C5032a), Simulator: iPhone 16 (18.3.1) However, if we change the code from ".aspectRatio(contentMode: .fill)" to ".aspectRatio(contentMode: .fit)" then the problem goes away. Any suggestions to fix the problem?

How do I size a UITextView with scroll disabled?
tl;dr: UITextView does not auto layout when isScrollEnabled = false I have a screen with multiple UITextViews on it, contained within a ScrollView. For each textview, I calculate the height needed to display the entire content in SwiftUI and set it using the .frame(width:height:) modifier. The UITextView will respect the size passed in and layout within the container, but since UITextView is embedded within a UIScrollView, when a user attempts to scroll on the page, often they will scroll within a UITextView block rather than the page. They currently need to scroll along the margins outside of the textview to get the proper behavior. Since I am already calculating the height to display the text, I don't want the UITextView to scroll. However, when I set isScrollEnabled = false, the text view displays in a single long line that gets truncated. I have tried Setting various frame/size attributes but that seems to have zero affect on the layout. Embedding the textView within a UIView, and then sizing the container, but then the textView does not display at all. Setting a fixed size textContainer in the layoutManager but did not work. There's a lot of code so I can't copy/paste it all, but generally, it looks like struct SwiftUITextEditor: View { @State var text: AttributedString = "" var body: some View { ZStack { MyTextViewRepresentable(text: $text) } .dynamicallySized(from: $text) } } struct MyTextViewRepresentable: UIViewRepresentable { @Binding var text: AttributedString let textView = UITextView(usingTextLayoutManager: true) func makeUIView(context: Context) -> UITextView { textView.attributedText = text textView.isScrollEnabled = false } ... }

DatePicker .graphical style: Inconsistent animation behavior when selecting out-of-range dates
Hi everyone, I’ve noticed an inconsistency in the behavior of SwiftUI’s DatePicker when using the .graphical style with a bounded date range (in:). When a user selects a date (month or year) outside the allowed range: If it's before the lower bound, the picker animates smoothly to the lower bound. BUT if the selected date is after the upper bound, the picker immediately jumps to the upper bound without animation. Note: Using .graphical style with displayedComponents: [.date]. Is this a known issue, and is there any recommended workaround or timeline for a fix? Or is this the intended behavior?

How to correctly set a Picker's selection and contents in SwiftUI for macOS?
How do you atomically set a Picker's selection and contents on macOS such that you don't end up in a situation where the selection is not present within the Picker's content? I presume Picker on macOS is implemented as an NSPopUpButton and an NSPopUpButton doesn't really like the concept of "no selection". SwiftUI, when presented with that, outputs: Picker: the selection "nil" is invalid and does not have an associated tag, this will give undefined results. Consider the following pseudo code: struct ParentView: View { @State private var items: [Item] var body: some View { ChildView(items: items) } } struct ChildView: View { let items: [Item] @State private var selectedItem: Item? var body: some View { Picker("", selection: $selectedItem) { ForEach(items) { item in Text(item.name).tag(item) } } } } When items gets passed down from ParentView to the ChildView, it's entirely possible that the current value in selectedItem represents an Item that is not longer in the items[] array. You can "catch" that by using .onAppear, .task, .onChange and maybe some other modifiers, but not until after at least one render pass has happened and an error has likely been reported because selectedItem is nil or it's not represented in the items[] array. Because selectedItem is private state, a value can't easily be passed down from the parent view, though even if it could that just kind of moves the problem one level higher up. What is the correct way to handle this type of data flow in SwiftUI for macOS?

UIScrollView in UIViewControllerRepresentable - UI freezes when content touches bottom SafeArea
The SwiftUI ScrollView lacks some features I need and so I created a custom MyScrollView based on UIScrollView wrapped within a UIViewControllerRepresentable. While this works fine in general I know came across a very strange problem: When MyScrollView is used in a sheet and its content touches bottom SafeArea, the UI freezes as soon as the should be displayed. The code below shows the problem as well in preview as on the simulator and on devices. Please note that the code is tuned do the display size of an iPhone 16 Pro. When running on different devices one might need to adjust height of the Color.yellow. In the demo code the UI freezes if the Color.yellow has a height between 738 to 771 pixels. Every other height is fine. Is there something wrong with my implementation of MyScrollView? When using ScrollView instead, everything works fine. Code: struct ContentView: View { @State private var showSheet: Bool = false var body: some View { ZStack { Button("Show Sheet") { showSheet = true } } .sheet(isPresented: $showSheet) { VStack { Text("Some Header Content") MyScrollView { VStack { Color.yellow //.frame(height: 737) // works .frame(height: 738) // does NOT works // ... //.frame(height: 771) // does NOT works //.frame(height: 772) // works } } .ignoresSafeArea() } } } } struct MyScrollView<Content: View>: UIViewControllerRepresentable { let content: Content init(@ViewBuilder content: () -> Content) { self.content = content() } func makeUIViewController(context: Context) -> UIViewController { let scrollViewVC = UIViewController() scrollViewVC.view.backgroundColor = .clear let scrollView = UIScrollView() scrollView.backgroundColor = .clear let contentVC = UIHostingController(rootView: self.content) contentVC.view.backgroundColor = .clear context.coordinator.contentVC = contentVC context.coordinator.scrollView = scrollView scrollView.translatesAutoresizingMaskIntoConstraints = false scrollViewVC.view.addSubview(scrollView) NSLayoutConstraint.activate([ scrollView.topAnchor.constraint(equalTo: scrollViewVC.view.topAnchor), scrollView.bottomAnchor.constraint(equalTo: scrollViewVC.view.bottomAnchor), scrollView.leadingAnchor.constraint(equalTo: scrollViewVC.view.leadingAnchor), scrollView.trailingAnchor.constraint(equalTo: scrollViewVC.view.trailingAnchor) ]) contentVC.willMove(toParent: scrollViewVC) scrollViewVC.addChild(contentVC) contentVC.view.translatesAutoresizingMaskIntoConstraints = false scrollView.addSubview(contentVC.view) NSLayoutConstraint.activate([ contentVC.view.topAnchor.constraint(equalTo: scrollView.contentLayoutGuide.topAnchor), contentVC.view.bottomAnchor.constraint(equalTo: scrollView.contentLayoutGuide.bottomAnchor), contentVC.view.leadingAnchor.constraint(equalTo: scrollView.contentLayoutGuide.leadingAnchor), contentVC.view.trailingAnchor.constraint(equalTo: scrollView.contentLayoutGuide.trailingAnchor), contentVC.view.widthAnchor.constraint(equalTo: scrollView.frameLayoutGuide.widthAnchor) ]) contentVC.didMove(toParent: scrollViewVC) return scrollViewVC } func updateUIViewController(_ uiViewController: UIViewController, context: Context) { context.coordinator.contentVC?.rootView = content } func makeCoordinator() -> Coordinator { return Coordinator() } class Coordinator { var contentVC: UIHostingController<Content>? var scrollView: UIScrollView? init() { //... } } } #Preview { ContentView() }

Scene for my "Application's Menu About "My Application""
I am using SwiftUI to create an app and I have figured out how to present a scene for my preferences window. However I have yet to find a way to modify the "About "My App"" scene. I am not even sure how to ask the question on other forums because I keep getting informations on application menus. I would like to find information on accessing/changing other menu entries in the menubar (in SwiftUI) an most specifically I would like to find out how to present a custom window (or at least custom information) when the user selects "About "My App"" I guess I don't need a solution but a pointer to documentation that will help me in my quest.

Crash/Glitch when using setViewControllers(_:animated:) with UIHostingController and .refreshable in SwiftUI
Introduction Hello, As part of our ongoing migration to SwiftUI, we are currently managing navigation using UIKit. Our SwiftUI views are embedded in UIHostingController instances and pushed or presented via UINavigationController. We’ve encountered an issue that causes either a UI glitch on iOS 18 or a crash on iOS 17 when using the .refreshable modifier in a SwiftUI view that is added to a UINavigationController via setViewControllers(_:animated:). To reproduce the issue, we’re using the following simple SwiftUI view: struct TestView: View { var body: some View { List { ForEach(0...100, id: \.self) { Text("Number: \($0)") } } .refreshable { // No action needed — the presence of this modifier alone triggers the issue } } } Problematic Scenario The following code causes the issue: class ViewController: UIViewController { override func viewDidAppear(_ animated: Bool) { super.viewDidAppear(animated) let initialNav = self.navigationController let hostingController = UIHostingController(rootView: TestView()) let newNav = UINavigationController() // This causes a freeze (iOS 18) or crash (iOS 17) newNav.setViewControllers([hostingController], animated: true) initialNav?.present(newNav, animated: true) } } After presenting the navigation controller, our app is freezing on iOS 18 or crashing on iOS 17. Working scenario When using pushViewController(_:animated:), the issue does not occur: class ViewController: UIViewController { override func viewDidAppear(_ animated: Bool) { super.viewDidAppear(animated) let initialNav = self.navigationController let hostingController = UIHostingController(rootView: TestView()) let newNav = UINavigationController() // This works without issue newNav.pushViewController(hostingController, animated: true) initialNav?.present(newNav, animated: true) } } Conclusion We would like to better understand the root cause of this behavior. While using pushViewController is a viable workaround, there are scenarios where we must rely on setViewControllers, and currently, that approach breaks the experience or crashes the app. Is this a known issue, or are we missing something about how UIHostingController interacts with .refreshable in this context? Thanks for your time — we look forward to any insights you can share.

Food Truck Sample animation issue from Table Component
Hi! I'm seeing some weird animation issues building the Food Truck sample application.^1 I'm running from macOS 15.4 and Xcode 16.3. I'm building the Food Truck application for macOS. I'm not focusing on iOS for now. The FoodTruckModel adds new Order values with an animation: // FoodTruckModel.swift withAnimation(.spring(response: 0.4, dampingFraction: 1)) { self.orders.append(orderGenerator.generateOrder(number: orders.count + 1, date: .now, generator: &generator)) } This then animates the OrdersTable when new Order values are added. Here is a small change to OrdersTable: // OrdersTable.swift - @State private var sortOrder = [KeyPathComparator(\Order.status, order: .reverse)] + @State private var sortOrder = [KeyPathComparator(\Order.creationDate, order: .reverse)] Running the app now inserts new Order values at the top. The problem is I seem to be seeing some weird animation issues here. It seems that as soon as the new Order comes in there is some kind of weird glitch where it appears as if part the animation is coming from the side instead of down from the top: What's then more weird is that if I seem to affect the state of the Table in any way then the next Order comes in with perfect animation. Scrolling the Table fixes the animation. Changing the creationData sort order from reverse to forward and back to reverse fixes the animation. Any ideas? Is there something about how the Food Truck product is built that would cause this to happen? Is this an underlying issue in the SwiftUI infra?

ApplePay QR code popup language
Hi Team, when launching an ApplePay session from a 3rd party browser where we get the QR code popup - is it possible to affect the popup's language? We are setting the button's language via locale parameter, but when the QR code pop's up it does not respect this setting (seems like it respects browser language). Button in Arabic Corresponding popup Browser language Arabic Coresponding popup I was unable to find anything in the documentation - could you please either point me to the relevant documentation or confirm/deny that it is possible to request a language for the popup via tjr javascript API? Kind regards Tomas

iOS app crash with UIKitcore - UIAlertController
I have recently submitted a new app version to the Appstore with Xcode 15.0. Unfortunately, I have started to see the below crash in the Xcode organiser &gt; Crashes section occurring for more number of times. UIKitCore: +[UIAlertController _alertControllerContainedInViewController:] + 160 The exception trace is not leading to main() function but not pointing to any of the code line. I had used UIAlertController in the past versions to show the alerts but there is no code written in the current version code related to UIAlertController. Only from the latest version, this kind of crash started to surface. In the latest release, We have added a third party SDK and while implementing the SDK, we had added the Location and Bluetooth Permissions in Info.plist file. But as we don't want to use/track the Location and Bluetooth details from the app, the SDK team has disabled the Location and Bluetooth settings to not reflect in the tracked data. Is this behaviour creating any conflict with the UIAlertController and logging the crash? Because by default the OS tries to show the alert when the permissions exist in the plist file, but the alert will not come as the service is disabled on the SDK server settings. Is this creating any conflict and logging the crash. Please extend your help.

📍 Inconsistent POI Visibility Between Apple Maps and MKLocalSearch / CLGeocoder
Summary: Hi! I'm experiencing an issue between what Apple Maps displays in the UI and what is accessible via MapKit APIs such as MKLocalSearch and CLGeocoder. Specifically, some verified and publicly visible businesses (with proper POI categories like .cafe) are not returned by coordinate-based POI searches or reverse geocoding, even when their exact address and coordinates are known. Repro Steps: In Apple Maps (iOS), search for Rustic Knead located at: 1130 State St, Lemont, IL 60439 Note that: The business appears visually on the map It is categorized as a cafe The address is 1130 State St Now in code, attempt both: A coordinate-based POI search using MKLocalSearch.Request(region:) A reverse geocoding lookup via CLGeocoder.reverseGeocodeLocation Example coordinates: latitude: 41.673604, longitude: -88.002295 Expected Behavior: Given the precise coordinates and Apple Maps showing the POI publicly, I expect either or both of the following: MKLocalSearch should return the POI (Rustic Knead) within a reasonable radius and appropriate .pointOfInterestFilter. CLGeocoder should return a CLPlacemark with either name = "Rustic Knead" or an areasOfInterest value containing it. Actual Behavior: MKLocalSearch returns 0 POIs at that location, even with filters removed and radius increased to 500+ meters. CLGeocoder.reverseGeocodeLocation returns a valid postal address but does not include the business name in .name or areasOfInterest. Searching by business name (e.g., "Rustic Knead") does work, but coordinate/address-only lookups do not. Questions: Are there known limitations in how MapKit surfaces POIs by coordinate or reverse geocode? Is there a way to ensure public, categorized POIs are accessible programmatically via MapKit APIs? Is there a better strategy to provide coordinates and return a business name?

Can You Debug a Widget on Actual Device?
I'm working on an iOS app with a Widget. I am able to display the Widget on the iPhone 16 Pro Simulator. It doesn't appear on iPad mini 6th gen., though. Anyway, I want to make sure that it works on an actual device. If I try to add the Widget to the Home Screen, I cannot find it in the search list on iPhone XR and iPad 9th gen. If I set the target to that of the widget, Xcode gives me the following error. SendProcessControlEvent:toPid: encountered an error: Error Domain=com.apple.dt.deviceprocesscontrolservice Code=8 "Failed to show Widget 'some bundle ID' error: … I hope that's not a sign of trouble. So how do you debug a Widget on an Actual Device? I've read some topics like this one here. Thanks.

Code: struct ContentView: View { @State private var showSheet: Bool = false var body: some View { ZStack { Button("Show Sheet") { showSheet = true } } .sheet(isPresented: $showSheet) { VStack { Text("Some Header Content") MyScrollView { VStack { Color.yellow //.frame(height: 737) // works .frame(height: 738) // does NOT works // ... //.frame(height: 771) // does NOT works //.frame(height: 772) // works } } .ignoresSafeArea() } } } } struct MyScrollView<Content: View>: UIViewControllerRepresentable { let content: Content init(@ViewBuilder content: () -> Content) { self.content = content() } func makeUIViewController(context: Context) -> UIViewController { let scrollViewVC = UIViewController() scrollViewVC.view.backgroundColor = .clear let scrollView = UIScrollView() scrollView.backgroundColor = .clear let contentVC = UIHostingController(rootView: self.content) contentVC.view.backgroundColor = .clear context.coordinator.contentVC = contentVC context.coordinator.scrollView = scrollView scrollView.translatesAutoresizingMaskIntoConstraints = false scrollViewVC.view.addSubview(scrollView) NSLayoutConstraint.activate([ scrollView.topAnchor.constraint(equalTo: scrollViewVC.view.topAnchor), scrollView.bottomAnchor.constraint(equalTo: scrollViewVC.view.bottomAnchor), scrollView.leadingAnchor.constraint(equalTo: scrollViewVC.view.leadingAnchor), scrollView.trailingAnchor.constraint(equalTo: scrollViewVC.view.trailingAnchor) ]) contentVC.willMove(toParent: scrollViewVC) scrollViewVC.addChild(contentVC) contentVC.view.translatesAutoresizingMaskIntoConstraints = false scrollView.addSubview(contentVC.view) NSLayoutConstraint.activate([ contentVC.view.topAnchor.constraint(equalTo: scrollView.contentLayoutGuide.topAnchor), contentVC.view.bottomAnchor.constraint(equalTo: scrollView.contentLayoutGuide.bottomAnchor), contentVC.view.leadingAnchor.constraint(equalTo: scrollView.contentLayoutGuide.leadingAnchor), contentVC.view.trailingAnchor.constraint(equalTo: scrollView.contentLayoutGuide.trailingAnchor), contentVC.view.widthAnchor.constraint(equalTo: scrollView.frameLayoutGuide.widthAnchor) ]) contentVC.didMove(toParent: scrollViewVC) return scrollViewVC } func updateUIViewController(_ uiViewController: UIViewController, context: Context) { context.coordinator.contentVC?.rootView = content } func makeCoordinator() -> Coordinator { return Coordinator() } class Coordinator { var contentVC: UIHostingController<Content>? var scrollView: UIScrollView? init() { //... } } } #Preview { ContentView() }

Thanks.
