Package created with pkgbuild installs zero-byte file
Just recently, any pkg file that I create with pkgbuild will install the Payload's application as a zero-byte file in the /Applications directory. This has been working for years without issue for me. Here are the commands I am using with company specific items replaced: pkgbuild --analyze --root MyApplicationRootDirectory standalone.plist plutil -replace BundleIsRelocatable -bool NO standalone.plist pkgbuild --identifier MyIdentifier --version 1.0 --install-location /Applications --root MyApplicationRootDirectory --component-plist standalone.plist --sign 'Developer ID Installer: MyCompany (MySignId)' --timestamp installer.pkg Any ideas on what could be causing the issue? I have verified the following: The application being added to the pkg is both signed and notarized using the correct Developer ID Application certificate. The resultant pkg file is both signed and notarized using the Developer ID Installer certificate. Verified the pkg contents using "pkgutil --expand" to dump the contents. Verified the pkg's Payload contents by extracting the data using "cat Payload | gunzip | cpio -1". This results in an application file that is a binary match for file added in the "pkgbuild --root" argument. My application is the only file within the directory passed to the "pkgbuild --root" argument. There are no warnings in the System Settings / Privacy & Security Panel when running the package installer. I have a valid Mac Developer account. I am building the application and the pkg file on the same computer. Thank you for any insight.

Unexpected error building on Ventura 13.4
Up to now I've been building my x64 binaries on Sequioa specifying a target macOS level of 13.4. That worked fine. In an attempt to debug a problem that was causing some pain I created a 13.4 x64 build environment and tried to build the code there. "A software update is required" message is shown when running beta software
I'm running the latest iOS 26 beta 5 on my iPad and iPhone. Whenever I run these betas, I always get the message below telling me an update is available (whenever I plug in my devices). I'm assuming this is because the update check is detecting that I have something other than the latest production release. Obviously, it makes no sense to ask me to update to a prod build when I'm running the dev beta. Is there a way to turn this message off? Or maybe Apple could handle this situation better? Or maybe it's just a bug and I'm the only one getting this message?

Simulate Background Fetch Not Working on Real Device, Works on Simulator
Hello Apple Support, I’m facing an issue with Background Fetch in my React Native project. When I click on Simulate Background Fetch in Xcode, everything works as expected on the iOS Simulator—background tasks run smoothly, and data is fetched without issues. However, on a real device, the app goes to the background but doesn’t execute any of the scheduled background tasks, and it also remains in the background without terminating. Here’s some additional context: React Native Project: I’m using React Native to develop this app, and the background tasks involve: Getting User Location: Fetching the user’s location in the background. API Calls: Calling an API to fetch necessary information based on the user’s location. Scheduling Notifications and Alarms: Scheduling notifications and alarms based on the API response data. Simulator vs. Real Device: In the iOS Simulator, all these background tasks trigger and function correctly when I simulate Background Fetch. On the real device, however, none of these tasks are triggered when I try to simulate Background Fetch. The app only moves to the background without performing any tasks or getting terminated. Device and Configuration Details: iOS Version: 17 Device Model: Iphone xs, Iphone 11, iphone 7 Background Modes: Background Fetch is enabled in Capabilities, and I’ve set the fetch interval to the minimum for testing. I’ve verified that all configurations are correctly set, and I’ve tried restarting the device and Xcode, but the issue persists. Is there something specific about Background Fetch that could prevent it from functioning as expected on physical devices? Unable to Test Xamarin App with iOS 26 Simulators in Visual Studio
Hello, I’m trying to test a Xamarin.iOS application using the iOS 26 simulators in Mac Visual Studio, but I’m encountering an issue where the simulators are not appearing or accessible from Visual Studio. Details: macOS version: 15.6 (24G84) Xcode version: 26 Beta 5 Visual Studio version: 17.6.0.80 Xamarin.iOS version: Xamarin.Forms (Version: 4.6.0.1180) using XAML for cross-platform support (iOS/Android) The problem started after updating to iOS 26 SDK. I am unable to select or run the app on any iOS 26 simulator from Visual Studio. Has anyone faced a similar issue? AppleClang adds `/usr/local/include` to application search folders
By default, AppleClang adds /usr/local/include to the application search folders for include files (as opposed to the system include dirs). This causes problems with the expected include order because application search folders always have priority over system includes. Specifically it causes problems with the conan package manager as library includes are added with -isystem This behaviour differs from LLVM mainline clang and GCC, where /usr/local/include is a system include (added with -internal-isystem). App crashes on start in TestFlight
Hi, I have a .NET MAUI app running on .NET 9. When I test locally in debug or release mode it works perfectly fine, but when testing from TestFlight it crashes almost immediately every time. I have sent the crash report to TestFlight and produced the symbolicated.crash file (attached), but I'm not sure it's helpful for understanding how to fix the issue. If anyone can help me understand what the issue might be and any possible fixes it'd be very much appreciated. I'm developing using Visual Studio 2022 paired to my Mac. I have distributed previously without issue, but now can't seem to, even after reverting recent code. net9.0-ios 15.0 symbolicated.crash

How to report Xcode 26 / iOS 26 bugs with Feedback Assistant?
I'm running macOS 15.5. I now have Xcode 26 and I'm testing my iOS app against iOS 26. I've encountered several UIKit / iOS 26 bugs I'd like to report. In Feedback Assistant I choose "Developer Technologies & SDKs". Eventually I get asked "What build does the issue occur on?". The list of choices is: iOS 18.2 Seed 4 iOS 18.1.1 iOS 17.7.2 An earlier iOS build I'm not sure So how to I report this as an iOS 26 beta 1 issue?

Cannot compile a simple C++ program on Mac OS

libclang_rt.profile_driverkit.a' not found
Hi guys! I have gone through an absolute nightmare, trying to solve the issue that I am about to tell you about. As the title says, I am getting the error: Library '/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Toolchains/XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/lib/clang/17/lib/darwin/libclang_rt.profile_driverkit.a' not found I trimmed off part of that directory as I did not want to reveal that information about my computer. From what I can tell, the file in question is no longer even a part of Xcode. I have searched, it is not on my computer anywhere. I have also downloaded older versions of Xcode to search with it. None of them have it. I have literally tried everything under the Son to solve this issue. I have been stuck on it for two days. I have even resorted to doing something I hate, which is asking for ChatGPT to assist me with solving the issue. No help there. I am at my wits end. So I am coming to you guys, have you seen this error? Any ideas at all? The odds are pretty good whatever you recommend I have probably already tried 200 times over. But I am still open to hearing anything. Have any of you had this error? Any ideas? I am on the latest version of macOS. The project is for a macOS app. M4 Mac mini. Any additional information I can provide, that will be helpful? At this point, I am leaning more towards this being a bug with Xcode than anything.

Can't download macOS 26 beta 8
Any time I attempt to download the latest beta of macOS 26, Safari stops the download at Zero KB, with no indication of why. I'm able to download OS 26 beta 8 for the other platforms absolutely fine, just not macOS. Pressing the little orange "reload" button, just results in another copy of the same zero KB file bundle on the file system. Can anyone help please?

Use of non-public or deprecated APIs
Hello, "This issue is blocking App store approval" I have tried pushing my application to Appstore. However it has been rejected on the following ground: _"As we discussed, the app uses or references the following non-public or deprecated APIs: Frameworks/CommonLibrary.framework/CommonLibrary Symbols: • _SecCertificateIsValid The use of non-public or deprecated APIs is not permitted, as they can lead to a poor user experience should these APIs change and are otherwise not supported on Apple platforms."_ I have scanned the app using "strings" tool & "otool -ov" tool. But they have come out clean. No Non-public or deprecated APIs detected. Please advise which tool can be used to scan the CL to locate where the deprecated API or non-public API lies and also how to rectify the same. Thanks Saikat Bakshi.

Where's the replacement for Quartz Debug?
Hi, This can't be right. Is there really no replacement for Quartz Debug?!? As the sole developer on a project who has an Intel Mac and Quartz Debug, I am basically a god now. Everyone else has Apple Silicon and... I think they're randomly guessing at this point. Because I have entire teams sending me Intel Mac builds of stuff just so I can test it in QD. This is THE TOOL we used at NewTek to find performance issues, and THE TOOL I used for a dozen companies after that, to help them with similar issues. If there's no replacement, is there a reason there's no replacement? This feels like a massive step backwards, having to guess at problems like this. -Chilton

AppleClang adds `/usr/local/include` to application search folders
By default, AppleClang adds /usr/local/include to the application search folders for include files (as opposed to the system include dirs). This causes problems with the expected include order because application search folders always have priority over system includes. Specifically it causes problems with the conan package manager as library includes are added with -isystem This behaviour differs from LLVM mainline clang and GCC, where /usr/local/include is a system include (added with -internal-isystem). App crashes on start in TestFlight
Hi, I have a .NET MAUI app running on .NET 9. When I test locally in debug or release mode it works perfectly fine, but when testing from TestFlight it crashes almost immediately every time. I have sent the crash report to TestFlight and produced the symbolicated.crash file (attached), but I'm not sure it's helpful for understanding how to fix the issue. If anyone can help me understand what the issue might be and any possible fixes it'd be very much appreciated. I'm developing using Visual Studio 2022 paired to my Mac. I have distributed previously without issue, but now can't seem to, even after reverting recent code. net9.0-ios 15.0 symbolicated.crash

How to report Xcode 26 / iOS 26 bugs with Feedback Assistant?
I'm running macOS 15.5. I now have Xcode 26 and I'm testing my iOS app against iOS 26. I've encountered several UIKit / iOS 26 bugs I'd like to report. In Feedback Assistant I choose "Developer Technologies & SDKs". Eventually I get asked "What build does the issue occur on?". The list of choices is: iOS 18.2 Seed 4 iOS 18.1.1 iOS 17.7.2 An earlier iOS build I'm not sure So how to I report this as an iOS 26 beta 1 issue?

Cannot compile a simple C++ program on Mac OS

libclang_rt.profile_driverkit.a' not found
Hi guys! I have gone through an absolute nightmare, trying to solve the issue that I am about to tell you about. As the title says, I am getting the error: Library '/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Toolchains/XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/lib/clang/17/lib/darwin/libclang_rt.profile_driverkit.a' not found I trimmed off part of that directory as I did not want to reveal that information about my computer. From what I can tell, the file in question is no longer even a part of Xcode. I have searched, it is not on my computer anywhere. I have also downloaded older versions of Xcode to search with it. None of them have it. I have literally tried everything under the Son to solve this issue. I have been stuck on it for two days. I have even resorted to doing something I hate, which is asking for ChatGPT to assist me with solving the issue. No help there. I am at my wits end. So I am coming to you guys, have you seen this error? Any ideas at all? The odds are pretty good whatever you recommend I have probably already tried 200 times over. But I am still open to hearing anything. Have any of you had this error? Any ideas? I am on the latest version of macOS. The project is for a macOS app. M4 Mac mini. Any additional information I can provide, that will be helpful? At this point, I am leaning more towards this being a bug with Xcode than anything.

Can't download macOS 26 beta 8
Any time I attempt to download the latest beta of macOS 26, Safari stops the download at Zero KB, with no indication of why. I'm able to download OS 26 beta 8 for the other platforms absolutely fine, just not macOS. Pressing the little orange "reload" button, just results in another copy of the same zero KB file bundle on the file system. Can anyone help please?

Use of non-public or deprecated APIs
Hello, "This issue is blocking App store approval" I have tried pushing my application to Appstore. However it has been rejected on the following ground: _"As we discussed, the app uses or references the following non-public or deprecated APIs: Frameworks/CommonLibrary.framework/CommonLibrary Symbols: • _SecCertificateIsValid The use of non-public or deprecated APIs is not permitted, as they can lead to a poor user experience should these APIs change and are otherwise not supported on Apple platforms."_ I have scanned the app using "strings" tool & "otool -ov" tool. But they have come out clean. No Non-public or deprecated APIs detected. Please advise which tool can be used to scan the CL to locate where the deprecated API or non-public API lies and also how to rectify the same. Thanks Saikat Bakshi.

beginner problem - App fails after a few days
I developed (with AI help) using Xcode an app for myself. It logged certain places visited on a list, with photos and notes. It worked, but after a few days my iPhone can't launch it. What do I have to do to get this to last? I didn't think I needed to pay as this is purely for me.

Specifically, I would like to understand if forcefully denying an application's execution on the iOS Simulator (for instance, by implementing a check in the code that prevents the app from running in a simulated environment) could negatively impact or delay the app’s approval during the App Store review process. Where's the replacement for Quartz Debug?
Hi, This can't be right. Is there really no replacement for Quartz Debug?!? As the sole developer on a project who has an Intel Mac and Quartz Debug, I am basically a god now. Everyone else has Apple Silicon and... I think they're randomly guessing at this point. Because I have entire teams sending me Intel Mac builds of stuff just so I can test it in QD. This is THE TOOL we used at NewTek to find performance issues, and THE TOOL I used for a dozen companies after that, to help them with similar issues. If there's no replacement, is there a reason there's no replacement? This feels like a massive step backwards, having to guess at problems like this. -Chilton

Is PacketLogger working for you on Sequoia?
It used to work for me (a few months, maybe a year ago). Right now when I run it there is no output (even though I granted it Bluetooth Capture permissions and have working RFCOMM communication in my program). Versions: PacketLogger 2024.03.18 (2024.03.18d1) Sequoia 15.4.1 M2 chip
