There is no problem with the content display of each tab, but the tab bar is completely buggy. If you open 5 or more tabs and browse tabs after the 5, the first 4 tab bars will be completely blacked out, and you don't even know how many tabs you have. If you click on the place where the tab title probably exists, the tab is displayed as if the partial display of the tab bar has been restored. There is no problem with content display. But because it is unclear what tab is open, the browsing experience is at its lowest. If you switch to the tab after the 5th, the first 4 will return to the blackout state again. Of course, it is the latest software configuration at the moment. There is no shortage of memory at 24GB. I recently started developing a Safari extension with AppExtension, but is that due to it?

I'm not loving the huge Favorites icons in Safari on MacOS 26, is there a way to reduce the size of them so that we can see more favorites on the list without scrolling down?

We have a Smart App Banner (including App Clip) on our website and have noticed today that the banner's background color has changed. It no longer has the default white background and blue button color, instead it has a background color that matches our page's background, and even the color of the button has changed. What's interesting is that we have not triggered this change at all. The colors seemingly changed by themselves. Looking at the Apple Documentation, no customization options are mentioned. Searching the web, the theme-color meta tag is mentioned in relation to this, however we haven't even included that tag on our page. What is triggering this color change then and how can we influence it?

How can I set it as a formal payment environment if I can make the payment now without any deduction?

This is my first post, so please forgive me if it is to the wrong area. I've been using Tahoe for a few days and, overall, it's very stable. But the one thing that has bothered me to no end is Safari's new behavior with respect to its header (Address bar, Favorite bookmarks bar, tab bar) background color. The web content of the active tab seems to affect everything - and oftentimes makes things completely unreadable - at least in "Dark" mode. For instance, if a web page uses a white background, the Favorites bookmark labels are the same color as the bookmark background, so reading the labels is simply impossible. At other times, they're just very difficult to read. Similarly, it is almost always impossible to tell which tab is the active one - my only workaround is to try 100% brightness....or to just guess. When Apple previously experimented with letting content bleed through to the top, there was a setting for stopping it - but I don't see such a setting anymore. Do you you know of any way to stop this effect?

Our Setup: Top-Level Domain: https://application.my.com/ (where the Apple Pay button is displayed, and the iframe is embedded) iFrame Content Origin: https://cashier.my.com/ (Our custom JavaScript application that handles the Apple Pay integration and directly calls our Payment Service Provider's (PSP) API for merchant validation). iFrame allow attribute: The iframe correctly includes allow="payment *". The Problem: When a user clicks the Apple Pay button, the ApplePaySession is successfully created and the Apple Pay sheet opens in Safari iOS. This suggests the browser recognizes the allow="payment *" attribute and allows the API calls. However, during the session.onvalidatemerchant callback, our JavaScript code makes a direct API call to our PSP (Nuvei)'s endpoint. This call consistently fails with an "Invalid domain name!" error, and the Apple Pay sheet then shows "Payment Not Completed." PSP's Diagnosis: Our PSP (Nuvei) has investigated and stated that for this specific endpoint (getAppleValidationApiFlow.do), "there is no explicit way to pass domain to the endpoint and domain for which session is issued is based on 'Referer' header." Our Question for Apple: Given that Safari 17+ now supports allow="payment" for cross-origin iframes to enable Apple Pay APIs, we have the following questions: What is Apple's official guidance or expectation regarding the Referer header for ApplePaySession.onvalidatemerchant calls when the ApplePaySession is instantiated from a cross-origin iframe? Is it expected that the Referer header for calls originating from the iFrame will always be the iFrame's origin? Does Apple's merchant validation process (when the PSP calls apple-pay-gateway.apple.com/paymentservices/startSession) itself rely on or interpret the Referer from the initial client-to-PSP call? Are there recommended best practices or standard approaches for PSP integrations in this cross-origin iFrame scenario to ensure the Referer validation (or equivalent domain validation) is correctly satisfied? We're trying to understand if our PSP's specific reliance on the Referer for this validation is a standard requirement implicitly set by Apple for this flow, or if there are other architectural approaches that should allow this scenario to work seamlessly. updateDynamic rules is blocking ads on my device with iOS 17.4, but on my iOS 18 device the same code is not blocking ads. Is this a known issue?

I recently upgraded my device from IOS 18.4 to IOS 26. My web extension has disapeared from safari. I can see it in Settings > Apps > Safari > Extensions and when I turn it on and re-open safari. I just get a mesasge that says "{extension name} is no longer avaiable". I have tried Manifest V2 and Manifest V3 both yield the same results. The current production extension bundled with the IOS app has the same problem. I can no longer use or test my own extension !? Help please !

Hello there, For a video like this <video src="blob:safari-web-extension://***" autoplay="" loop="" style="position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 100%; height: 100%; object-fit: cover; z-index: -1;"></video>, no matter if its local or remote, blob or mp4 files, is constantly being reloaded (refetched? revalidated?) if the loop tag is added. I can confirm there is actual constant traffic from the server based on my server logs. I am running iOS/macOS 26.

I'm working on a Safari web extension that uses the nativeMessaging facility to communication with native code. When I want to notify the javascript extension from the embedding application, I use SFSafariApplication::dispatchMessage. As per the documentation, this call ... ensures that Safari is launched and that your extension is running before delivering the message. Everything works fine when the background script is running. However, after the background script gets unloaded at some point in time (non persistent background page, default behavior for a manifest V3 extension), the background script is not reloaded by the message from the native app (background script still appears unloaded in the developer menu of Safari, double-checked using a counter stored in browser.storage.local incremented on message reception). In this case, the completion handler of the application gets no error (error == nil) as if the message was correctly delivered. I was able to reproduce this behavior with the sample app delivered for WWDC20 (after upgrading the manifest from v2 to v3 to make it non-persistent). Is it supposed to work ? What I'm doing wrong ?

Is there any video/audio codec best practices, guides, recommendations for app/web developers for best performance (take advantage from HW acceleration), power consumption saving? What are officially supported media containers? What are video encoding profiles, video dimensions, frame rates? The only official source I have found is https://developer.apple.com/documentation/webkit/delivering-video-content-for-safari?language=objc. But h264 is pretty old. I experimentally found that the VP9 video format is also supported on iOS newer versions. But is this a requirement? Сan i be sure that the video will play on all devices? My goal is to provide web media content (which will be rendered in my application using WKWebView API) that will be supported by most devices (both iOS and MacOS), takes advantage of such features as hardware decode acceleration and be efficient.
