Ways I can leverage AI when the user asks Siri, "What does this word mean"
I'm the creator of an app that helps users learn Arabic. Inside of the app users can save words, engage in lessons specific to certain grammar concepts etc. I'm looking for a way for Siri to 'suggest' my app when the user asks to define any Arabic words. There are other questions that I would like for Siri to suggest my app for, but I figure that's a good start. What framework am I looking for here? I think AppItents? I remember I played with it for a bit last year but didn't get far. Any suggestions would be great. Would the new Foundations model be any help here?

Inference Provider crashed with 2:5
I am trying to create a slightly different version of the content tagging code in the documentation: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/foundationmodels/systemlanguagemodel/usecase/contenttagging In the playground I am getting an "Inference Provider crashed with 2:5" error. I have no idea what that means or how to address the error. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Safety Guardrail errors for tiny prompt (dropped into large app)
I was able to open a new project and play around with the Foundation Model, but when I dropped this class in a production app (with a lot of files) I'm running into Safety Guardrail errors for this very small prompt. Specifically it's "Safety guardrail was triggered after consecutive failures during streaming." Does it have something to do with the size of the app? I don't know what else to try to get it to work? import FoundationModels import Playgrounds @available(iOS 26.0, *) #Playground { Task { do { let session = LanguageModelSession() let prompt = "Write a short story about a talking cat." let response = try await session.respond(to: prompt) print(response) } catch { print("Error: \(error)") } } }

"FoundationModels GenerationError error 2" on iOS 26 beta 3
Hi all, I'm working on an app that utilizes the FoundationModels found in iOS 26. I updated my phone to iOS 26 beta 3 and am now receiving the following error when trying to run code that worked in beta 2: Al Error: The operation couldn't be completed. (FoundationModels.LanguageModelSession.Genera- tionError error 2.) I admit I'm a bit of a new developer, but any idea if this is an issue with beta 3 or work that I'll need to do to adapt my code to some changes in the AI API? Thank you!

Crash inside of Vision predictWithCVPixelBuffer - Crashed: com.apple.VN.detectorSyncTasksQueue.VNCoreMLTransformer
Hello, We have been encountering a persistent crash in our application, which is deployed exclusively on iPad devices. The crash occurs in the following code block: let requestHandler = ImageRequestHandler(paddedImage) var request = CoreMLRequest(model: model) request.cropAndScaleAction = .scaleToFit let results = try await requestHandler.perform(request) The client using this code is wrapped inside an actor, following Swift concurrency principles. How to pass data to FoundationModels with a stable identifier
For example: I have a list of to-dos, each with a unique id (a GUID). I want to feed them to the LLM model and have the model rewrite the items so they start with an action verb. I'd like to get them back and identify which rewritten item corresponds to which original item. I obviously can't compare the text, as it has changed. I've tried passing the original GUIDs in with each to-do, but the extra GUID characters pollutes the input and confuses the model. I've tried numbering them in order and adding an originalSortOrder field to my generable type, but it doesn't work reliably. Any suggestions? I could do them one at a time, but I also have a use case where I'm asking for them to be organized in sections, and while I've instructed the model not to rename anything, it still happens. It's just all very nondeterministic.

LanguageModelStream and collecting the final output
I have a Generable type with many elements. I am using a stream() to incrementally process the output (Generable.PartiallyGenerated?) content. At the end, I want to pass the final version (not partially generated) to another function. I cannot seem to find a good way to convert from a MyGenerable.PartiallyGenerated to a MyGenerable. Am I missing some functionality in the APIs?

SpeechAnalyzer / AssetInventory and preinstalled assets
During testing the “Bringing advanced speech-to-text capabilities to your app” sample app demonstrating the use of iOS 26 SpeechAnalyzer, I noticed that the language model for the English locale was presumably already downloaded. Upon checking the documentation of AssetInventory, I found out that indeed, the language model can be preinstalled on the system. Can someone from the dev team share more info about what assets are preinstalled by the system? For example, can we safely assume that the English language model will almost certainly be already preinstalled by the OS if the phone has the English locale?

InferenceError referencing context length in FoundationModels framework
I'm experimenting with downloading an audio file of spoken content, using the Speech framework to transcribe it, then using FoundationModels to clean up the formatting to add paragraph breaks and such. I have this code to do that cleanup: private func cleanupText(_ text: String) async throws -> String? { print("Cleaning up text of length \(text.count)...") let session = LanguageModelSession(instructions: "The content you read is a transcription of a speech. Separate it into paragraphs by adding newlines. Do not modify the content - only add newlines.") let response = try await session.respond(to: .init(text), generating: String.self) return response.content } The content length is about 29,000 characters. And I get this error: InferenceError::inferenceFailed::Failed to run inference: Context length of 4096 was exceeded during singleExtend.. Is 4096 a reference to a max input length? Or is this a bug? This is running on an M1 iPad Air, with iPadOS 26 Seed 1.

Setting Required Capabilities for Foundation Models
Is there any way to ensure iOS apps we develop using Foundation Models can only be purchasable/downloadable on App Store by folks with capable devices? I would've thought there would be a Required Capabilities that App Store would hook into, but I don't seem to see it in the documentation here: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/bundleresources/information-property-list/uirequireddevicecapabilities The closest seems to be iphone-performance-gaming-tier as that seems to target all M1 and above chips on iPhone & iPad. There is an ipad-minimum-performance-m1 that would more reasonably seem to ensure Foundation Models is likely available, but that doesn't help with iPhone. So far, it seems the only path would be to set Minimum Deployment to iOS 26 and add iphone-performance-gaming-tier as a required capability, but I'm a bit worried that capability might diverge in the future from what's Foundation Model / Apple Intelligence capable. While I understand for the majority of apps they'll want to just selectively add in Apple Intelligence features and so can be usable by folks whose devices don't support it, the app experience I'm building doesn't make sense without the Foundation Models being available and I'd rather not have a large number of users downloading the app to be told "Sorry, you're not Apple Intelligence capable"

Looking for a prebuilt TensorFlow Lite C++ library (libtensorflowlite) for macOS M1/M2
Hi everyone! 👋 I'm working on a C++ project using TensorFlow Lite and was wondering if anyone has a prebuilt TensorFlow Lite C++ library (libtensorflowlite) for macOS (Apple Silicon M1/M2) that they’d be willing to share. I’m looking specifically for the TensorFlow Lite C++ API — something that lets me use tflite::Interpreter, tflite::FlatBufferModel, etc. Building it from source using Bazel on macOS has been quite challenging and time-consuming, so a ready-to-use .dylib or .a build along with the required headers would be incredibly helpful. TensorFlow Lite version: v2.18.0 preferred Target: macOS arm64 (Apple Silicon) What I need: libtensorflowlite.dylib or .a Corresponding headers (ideally organized in a clean include/ folder) If you have one available or know where I can find a reliable prebuilt version, I’d be super grateful. Thanks in advance! 🙏

Apple ANE Peformance - throttling?
I can no longer achieve 100% ANE usage since upgrading to MacOS26 Beta 5. I used to be able to get 100%. Has Apple activated throttling or power saving features in the new Betas? Is there any new rate limiting on the API? I can hardly get above 3w or 40%. I have a M4 Pro mini (64GB) with High Power energy setting. MacOS 26 Beta 5.

Stream response
With respond() methods, the foundation model works well enough. With streamResponse() methods, the responses are very repetitive, verbose, and messy. My app with foundation model uses more than 500 MB memory on an iPad Pro when running from Xcode. Devices supporting Apple Intelligence have at least 8GB memory. Should Apple use a bigger model (using 3 ~ 4 GB memory) for better stream responses?

OpenIntent not executed with Visual Intelligence
I'm building a new feature with Visual Intelligence framework. My implementation for IndexedEntity and IntentValueQuery worked as expected and I can see a list of objects in visual search result. However, my OpenIntent doesn't work. When I tap on the object, I got a message on screen "Sorry somethinf went wrong ...". and the breakpoint in perform() is never triggered. Things I've tried: I added @MainActor before perform(), this didn't change anything I set static let openAppWhenRun: Bool = true and static var supportedModes: IntentModes = [.foreground(.immediate)], still nothing I created a different intent for the see more button at the end of feed. This AppIntent with schema: .visualIntelligence.semanticContentSearch worked, perform() is executed

Accessing Apple Intelligence APIs: Custom Prompt Support and Inference Capabilities
Hello Apple Developer Community, I'm exploring the integration of Apple Intelligence features into my mobile application and have a couple of questions regarding the current and upcoming API capabilities: Custom Prompt Support: Is there a way to pass custom prompts to Apple Intelligence to generate specific inferences? For instance, can we provide a unique prompt to the Writing Tools or Image Playground APIs to obtain tailored outputs? Direct Inference Capabilities: Beyond the predefined functionalities like text rewriting or image generation, does Apple Intelligence offer APIs that allow for more generalized inference tasks based on custom inputs? I understand that Apple has provided APIs such as Writing Tools, Image Playground, and Genmoji. However, I'm interested in understanding the extent of customization and flexibility these APIs offer, especially concerning custom prompts and generalized inference. Additionally, are there any plans or timelines for expanding these capabilities, perhaps with the introduction of new SDKs or frameworks that allow deeper integration and customization? Any insights, documentation links, or experiences shared would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Keep getting exceededContextWindowSize with Foundation Models
I'm a bit new to the LLM stuff and with Foundation Models. My understanding is that there is a token limit of around 4K. I want to process the contents of files which may be quite large. I first tried going the Tool route but that didn't work out so I then tried manually chunking the text to keep things under the limit. It mostly works except that every now and then it'll exceed the limit. This happens even when the chunks are less than 100 characters. Instructions themselves are about 500 characters but still overall, well below 1000 characters per prompt, all told, which, in my limited understanding, should not result in 4K tokens being parsed. Any ideas on what is going on here?

TAMM toolkit v0.2.0 is for base model older than base model in macOS 26 beta 4
Problem: We trained a LoRA adapter for Apple's FoundationModels framework using their TAMM (Training Adapter for Model Modification) toolkit v0.2.0 on macOS 26 beta 4. The adapter trains successfully but fails to load with: "Adapter is not compatible with the current system base model." TAMM 2.0 contains export/constants.py with: BASE_SIGNATURE = "9799725ff8e851184037110b422d891ad3b92ec1" Findings: Adapter Export Process: In export_fmadapter.py def write_metadata(...): self_dict[MetadataKeys.BASE_SIGNATURE] = BASE_SIGNATURE # Hardcoded value The Compatibility Check: - When loading an adapter, Apple's system compares the adapter's baseModelSignature with the current system model - If they don't match: compatibleAdapterNotFound error - The error doesn't reveal the expected signature Questions: - How is BASE_SIGNATURE derived from the base model? - Is it SHA-1 of base-model.pt or some other computation? - Can we compute the correct signature for beta 4? - Or do we need Apple to release TAMM v0.3.0 with updated signature?
