How to get accurate Mouse/Trackpad deltas on macOS when using CGWarpMouseCursorPosition?
I am working on a remote control application for macOS where I need to maintain two "virtual" cursors: Remote Cursor: Follows the remote user's movements. Local Cursor: Follows the local user's physical mouse/trackpad movements. To move the system cursor (for the remote side), I use CGWarpMouseCursorPosition as follows: void DualCursorMac::UpdateSystemCursorPosition(int x, int y) { CGPoint point = CGPointMake(static_cast<CGFloat>(x), static_cast<CGFloat>(y)); // Warp the cursor to match remote coordinates CGWarpMouseCursorPosition(point); } Meanwhile, I use a CGEventTap to monitor local physical movements to update my local virtual cursor's UI: CGEventRef Mouse::MouseTapCallback(CGEventTapProxy proxy, CGEventType type, CGEventRef event, void *refcon) { if (remoteControlMode) { // We want to suppress system cursor movement but still read the delta const int deltaX = static_cast<int>(CGEventGetIntegerValueField(event, kCGMouseEventDeltaX)); const int deltaY = static_cast<int>(CGEventGetIntegerValueField(event, kCGMouseEventDeltaY)); NSLog(@"MouseTapCallback: delta:(%d, %d)", deltaX, deltaY); // Update local virtual cursor UI based on deltas... return nullptr; // Consume the event } return event; } The Problem: When CGWarpMouseCursorPosition is called frequently to update the system cursor, it interferes with the kCGMouseEventDeltaX/Y values in the Event Tap. Specifically, if the local user moves the trackpad slowly (expecting deltas of 1 or 2), but a "Warp" occurs simultaneously (e.g., jumping the cursor from (100, 100) to (300, 300)), the deltaX and deltaY in the callback suddenly spike to very large values. It seems the system calculates the delta based on the new warped position rather than the pure physical displacement of the trackpad. This makes the local virtual cursor "jump" erratically and makes it impossible to track smooth local movement during remote control. My Question: Is there a way to get the "raw" or "pure" physical relative movement (delta) from the trackpad/mouse that is independent of the system cursor's absolute position or warping? Are there alternative APIs (perhaps IOKit or different CGEvent fields) that would allow me to get consistent deltas even when the cursor is being warped programmatically?

How does the automatch feature work in Game Kit?
I'm developing a turn based game. When I present the GKTurnBasedMatchmakerViewController players can opt in for automatch instead of selecting a specific friend as opponent. How exactly does the matching work if a player doesn't specify anything explicitly? Does Game Center send push notifications in a round robin fashion to all friends and the first one to accept is then matched as opponent? Is this documented somewhere?

xCode26.x Metal4 classes do not compile
Hi, I am using xCode26.x. But my Metal4 classes are not compiling. I downloaded the sample code from Apple's website - https://developer.apple.com/documentation/Metal/processing-a-texture-in-a-compute-function. For example, I am getting errors like "Cannot find protocol declaration for 'MTL4CommandQueue'; I have hit a deadline. Any recommendations are very welcome. I have downloaded the Metal Tool chain. Cannot load .mtlpackage to MTLLibrary
After watching WWDC 2025 session "Combine Metal 4 machine learning and graphics", I have decided to give it a shot to integrate the latest MTL4MachineLearningCommandEncoder to my existing render pipeline. After a lot of trial and errors, I managed to set up the pipeline and have the app compiled. However, I am now stuck on creating a MTLLibrary with .mtlpackage. Here is the code I have to create a MTLLibrary according the WWDC session https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2025/262/?time=550: let coreMLFilePath = bundle.path(forResource: "my_model", ofType: "mtlpackage")! let coreMLURL = URL(string: coreMLFilePath)! do { metalDevice.makeLibrary(URL: coreMLURL) } catch { print("error: \(error)") } With the above code, I am getting error: Error Domain=MTLLibraryErrorDomain Code=1 "Invalid metal package" UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=Invalid metal package} What is the correct way to create a MTLLibrary with .mtlpackage? Do I see this error because the .mtlpackage I am using is incorrect? How should I go with debugging this? I'd really appreciate if I could get some help on this as I have been stuck with it for some time now. Thanks in advance!

Metal and Swift Concurrency
Hi, Introducing Swift Concurrency to my Metal app has been a bit challenging as Swift Concurrency is limited by the cooperative thread pool. GPU work is obviously not CPU bound and can block forward moving progress, especially when using waitUntilCompleted on the command buffer. For concurrent render work this has the potential of under utilizing the CPU and even creating dead locks. My question is, what is the Metal's teams general recommendation when it comes to concurrency? It seems to me that Dispatch or OperationQueues are still the preferred way for Metal bound tasks in order to gain maximum performance? To integrate with Swift Concurrency my idea is to use continuations that kick off render jobs via Dispatch or Queues? Would this be the best solution to bridge async tasks with Metal work? Thanks!

App not showing in Game Center “All Activity” after release
Hello — I shipped an App Store build that signs in to Game Center using the Apple Unity Plugins (GameKit). The login banner appears, but my app still doesn’t show up in Game Center’s “All activity” (You started playing XXX 2d ago) What I’ve done Call await GKLocalPlayer.Authenticate(); “Game Center” is enabled for the current version in App Store Connect Confirmed: other App Store games do appear under “All Activity” on the same device/account Timeline: This is the first version that enables Game Center (not the app’s first release), and it has been about 2 hours since this build went live. Questions Is authentication alone sufficient for “Recently Played,” or is at least one Game Center component (leaderboards, achievements, activities, multiplayer) required? Is there a typical propagation delay before “Recently Played” starts showing a newly enabled app/version? Is there anything else I should configure in App Store Connect or entitlements to make “Recently Played” visible? Thanks for any help.

Firebase not initializing in iOS Unreal Engine 5.6 app (using MetaHuman + FirebaseFeatures)
Hi everyone, I'm building a native iOS app using Unreal Engine 5.6 with Firebase for authentication and Firestore. The app uses a MetaHuman avatar and is meant to run as a standalone UE app on iPhone. I'm using this Firebase wrapper: 👉 https://pandoa.github.io/FirebaseFeatures/ I've followed all the steps, including: Adding GoogleService-Info.plist to the Xcode project and ensuring it’s in the correct target Calling FIRApp.configure() in AppDelegate Verifying the plist is bundled correctly However, the app crashes on launch, and Firebase does not initialize properly. Crash log shows: [FirebaseCore][I-COR000005] No app has been configured yet. Setup details: Unreal Engine: 5.6 (source build, macOS) iOS Deployment: 17.5 MetaHuman character packaged correctly and app launches fine without Firebase Has anyone here managed to get Firebase working inside a native Unreal Engine iOS app with this setup? I'd love to hear if there’s something I’m missing — maybe something with initialization timing or module loading? Thanks so much in advance 🙏

How do I test a new leaderboard added to a Published app with prior leaderboard?
Hi I have attempted to find a fix for my issue via documentation online and one phone support ( not code level support ) call to no end. I could continue to try various things but would like to see if someone else has encountered this issue and a fix for it. Background: My Game app is live on App Store and has 1 classic leaderboard . I am now getting ready to submit an update to the app and it also entails adding a new recurring leaderboard. I added the leaderboard in App Store. I however have NOT uploaded my new build yet. I have also not added my leaderboards ( currently live and not live ) to any set. When I try to submit scores using GKLeaderboard.submitScore(_:context:player:leaderboardIDs:completionHandler:) to the new non-live leaderboard it works ( gives me no error ) When I try to load the scores from the new non-live leaderboard GKLeaderboard.loadLeaderboards(IDs:completionHandler:) loadEntries(for:timeScope:range:completionHandler:) it fails. Error: "leaderboardID not found" I could try ( and will ) uploading the new build to AppStore connect and associating the new leaderboard to it before testing again. try associating each leaderboard to a set Is there anything else that I should be aware of ? Thanks in advance

Is there any future for screensavers on macOS?
I haven't been looking at screensavers for a long time because of Apple's lack of will (or resources?) to provide a public version of the private modern SDK used by Apple for a very long time now. I'm now looking at the Screen Saver pane in System Settings (the What-If version of System Preferences in an alternate universe where all screens are in portrait mode). In macOS Sequoia, it seems like 3rd party screensavers are not welcome considering that they are relegated to the "Other" section at the bottom of the list and you have to click Show All to start seeing 3rd party screen savers. I also had a quick look at macOS Tahoe Beta 3 and it looks like that all the real screensavers are gone (3rd party and the ones from Apple: Hello, Message, Flurry, etc.) or at least it requires to be a Nobel Prize to find them (and the Search field is not useful). I tried to install a 3rd party screen saver on macOS Tahoe Beta 3, it doesn't show up in the list. To summarize: No public access to modern APIs AFAIK. UI that is hostile to 3rd party screen savers on macOS Sequoia. Apparently only screensavers that are slideshows or movies curated by Apple in macOS Tahoe b3. Hence the question: Is there any future for screen savers on macOS? Because if there's none, I won't waste my time trying to update some old screen savers.

Embedded links not clickable in PDFs for iOS devices
I have a SPFx React application where I am printing the HTML page content using the javascript default window.print() functionality. Once I save the page as pdf from the print preview window and open it using Adobe Acrobat, the links(for eg -> Google) within the content are not clickable and appearing as plain text. I have tried to print random pages post searching with any keywords in Google and saved the files as pdfs, but, unfortunately, the links are still not clickable there as well. To check whether it is an Adobe Acrobat issue, I have performed the same print functionality from Android devices and shared the pdf file across the iOS devices and in that case, when opened using Adobe Acrobat, the links are appearing to be clickable. I am wondering whether it is something related to how the default print functionality works for iPadOS and iOS devices. Any insights on this would be really helpful. Thanks!!! Note: The links are clickable for MacOS as well as for Windows. #ios #ipados #javascript #spfx #react

Request: API to temporarily defer Reachability for fullscreen game swipes (bottom edge)
In swipe-driven games, a first downward swipe starting near the home indicator can trigger Reachability, even when using preferredScreenEdgesDeferringSystemGestures = .bottom and prefersHomeIndicatorAutoHidden = true. This causes the app to slide down to half screen and breaks gameplay. Please consider an API to temporarily defer Reachability while a custom gesture is active (similar to existing system gesture deferral), without disabling accessibility globally. Environment: Devices: iPhones with Home Indicator (Face ID) Why this matters: Bottom-origin swipes are core in many games (flick shots, slingshot, physics toss, bottom sheets). Current workarounds degrade UX and discoverability, and players still accidentally trigger Reachability. Feedback Assistant Post

GameKit Achievements, Leaderboards and Challenges not showing on iOS 26 beta 4 in the Game Center UI (opened from GKAccessPoint)
On an iPad running iPadOS 26 beta 4, when tapping the Game Center Access Point, the overlay doesn’t show the configured achievements, leaderboards or challenges. I should specify this is an in-development app and the achievements and leaderboards are in the “Not Live” state, however they show on other devices running iOS 18 in the Access Point UI. Anyone else having this issue? If so, how should I test achievements and leaderboards while iOS 26 beta is out? The UI looks like this on iPadOS 26:

Unity GameKit plugin beta GameKit Activity UnsupportedOperationForOSVersion
I’m running into unexpected problems with the Unity GameKit plugin setup with the new Activities. I didn’t see anyone else mentioning these issues, so my guess is that it’s a problem with my setup. The authentication (GKLocalPlayer.Authenticate()) works as expected, but any call to the new GameActivity functionality (e.g. GKGameActivityDefinition.LoadGameActivityDefinitions() or GKGameActivity.WantsToPlay) gives me an exception with a 'UnsupportedOperationForOSVersion' reason despite it running on an iOS 18.6.1 device. I’m using a completely empty Unity 2022.3.62f1 project that only contains the official authentication example, followed by an event handler for activities from another example and the Unity core and gamekit plugins. The setup: macOS 15.6 Xcode 26 beta 6 (also tried with 5) Physical iPhone device running iOS 18.6.1 Unity 2022.3.62f1, which satisfies the requirements Unity plugin, Xcode setup, and build steps: I Followed the official beta branch build steps for Unity plugins with python3 build.py -m iOS iPhoneSimulator macOS -p Core GameKit which ran through after a slight modification for the macOS target that somehow contained an unknown team reference for the GameKitWrapper project, which I changed to not reference a team and use ‘sign to run locally’, as was the case for the other packages. As far as I understood the macOS version is not strictly necessary either way just for running it on a local iOS device(?) I Imported these as tarball packages into the empty Unity 2022.3.62f1 project as per the official instructions, which seems to work as expected Added a single script with the mentioned example code added in a MonoBehavior.Start Building in Unity works as expected as well, creating the Xcode project The Unity-iPhone target has the GameKit framework linked (’do not embed’) and the GameCenter capability was added automatically as expected The GameKit framework seems to not be added to the UnityFramework target, but I don’t think this is necessary? Quickly testing this with the GameKit framework added there as well didn’t make a difference The linked GameKit framework is indeed the expected Xcode 26 beta version I can then build and run this on the physical iPhone iOS 18.6.1 device, where I get an ‘UnsupportedOperationForOSVersion’ as soon as I try to subscribe to deeplinking events (GKGameActivity.WantsToPlay) or use other GameKit Activity functionality from the official examples: // log showing that it's actually running on iOS 18.6: [Apple.Core Plug-In Runtime] Availability Runtime Environment: iOS 18.6 Apple.Core.Availability:OnApplicationStart() // and the exception I get: GameKitException: Code=-7 Domain=GKErrorDomain Description=The operation couldn’t be completed. (GKErrorDomain error -7.) (UnsupportedOperationForOSVersion) at Apple.GameKit.DefaultNSErrorHandler.ThrowNSError (System.IntPtr nsErrorPtr) [0x00000] in <00000000000000000000000000000000>:0 Rethrow as TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'Apple.GameKit.GKGameActivity' threw an exception. I unfortunately didn’t find any clues as to why this happens and how to resolve it on this forum or otherwise. Changing the minimum iOS version - up to 18.6 from the previously used (Unity export default) 12.0 for any and all targets - did not yield a different result I'd rather not update the phone to use the iOS 26 beta, though as far as I understood this is not necessary Any pointers to what I might be missing or doing wrong are greatly appreciated! Thank you very much in advance!

'tangents' was deprecated in visionOS 2.0: Use cp_drawable_compute_projection instead
I'm using a class with tangents to render on RealityKit for VisionOS but in Vision26 it cause a crash on App and there not documentation how implement cp_drawable_compute_projection I have tried a few options but without success. Could you help me to implement it ? The part of code is: return drawable.views.map { view in let userViewpointMatrix = (simdDeviceAnchor * view.transform).inverse let projectionMatrix = ProjectiveTransform3D( leftTangent: Double(view.tangents[0]), rightTangent: Double(view.tangents[1]), topTangent: Double(view.tangents[2]), bottomTangent: Double(view.tangents[3]), nearZ: Double(drawable.depthRange.y), farZ: Double(drawable.depthRange.x), reverseZ: true ) let screenSize = SIMD2(x: Int(view.textureMap.viewport.width), y: Int(view.textureMap.viewport.height)) return ModelRendererViewportDescriptor(viewport: view.textureMap.viewport, projectionMatrix: .init(projectionMatrix), viewMatrix: userViewpointMatrix * translationMatrix * rotationMatrix * scalingMatrix * commonUpCalibration, screenSize: screenSize) }

Unity PolySpatia
Hello, We are experiencing an issue with apparent lag or latency when interacting with objects in Unity using the XR Interaction Toolkit. Even when interactables are configured with the Movement Type set to Instantaneous, objects exhibit a noticeable delay when following hand movement. This issue is particularly apparent when the hand moves at higher speeds. We would like to know: is any additional configuration required, or is there something else we need to do to resolve this? Thank you very much for your assistance.

OS choosing performance state poorly for GPU use case
I am building a MacOS desktop app (https://anukari.com) that is using Metal compute to do real-time audio/DSP processing, as I have a problem that is highly parallelizable and too computationally expensive for the CPU. However it seems that the way in which I am using the GPU, even when my app is fully compute-limited, the OS never increases the power/performance state. Because this is a real-time audio synthesis application, it's a huge problem to not be able to take advantage of the full clock speeds that the GPU is capable of, because the app can't keep up with real-time. I discovered this issue while profiling the app using Instrument's Metal tracing (and Game tracing) modes. In the profiling configuration under "Metal Application" there is a drop-down to select the "Performance State." If I run the application under Instruments with Performance State set to Maximum, it runs amazingly well, and all my problems go away. For comparison, when I run the app on its own, outside of Instruments, the expensive GPU computation it's doing takes around 2x as long to complete, meaning that the app performs half as well. I've done a ton of work to micro-optimize my Metal compute code, based on every scrap of information from the WWDC videos, etc. A problem I'm running into is that I think that the more efficient I make my code, the less it signals to the OS that I want high GPU clock speeds! I think part of why the OS is confused is that in most use cases, my computation can be done using only a small number of Metal threadgroups. I'm guessing that the OS heuristics see that only a small fraction of the GPU is saturated and fail to scale up the power/clock state. I'm not sure what to do here; I'm in a bit of a bind. One possibility is that I intentionally schedule busy work -- spin threadgroups just to waste energy and signal to the OS that I need higher clock speeds. This is obviously a really bad idea, but it might work. Is there any other (better) way for my app to signal to the OS that it is doing real-time latency-sensitive computation on the GPU and needs the clock speeds to be scaled up? Note that game mode is not really an option, as my app also runs as an AU plugin inside hosts like Garageband, so it can't be made fullscreen, etc.

I'm using a class with tangents to render on RealityKit for VisionOS but in Vision26 it cause a crash on App and there not documentation how implement cp_drawable_compute_projection I have tried a few options but without success. Could you help me to implement it ? The part of code is: return drawable.views.map { view in let userViewpointMatrix = (simdDeviceAnchor * view.transform).inverse let projectionMatrix = ProjectiveTransform3D( leftTangent: Double(view.tangents[0]), rightTangent: Double(view.tangents[1]), topTangent: Double(view.tangents[2]), bottomTangent: Double(view.tangents[3]), nearZ: Double(drawable.depthRange.y), farZ: Double(drawable.depthRange.x), reverseZ: true ) let screenSize = SIMD2(x: Int(view.textureMap.viewport.width), y: Int(view.textureMap.viewport.height)) return ModelRendererViewportDescriptor(viewport: view.textureMap.viewport, projectionMatrix: .init(projectionMatrix), viewMatrix: userViewpointMatrix * translationMatrix * rotationMatrix * scalingMatrix * commonUpCalibration, screenSize: screenSize) }
