Why is Xcode taking forever to install/launch app?
Ever since Xcode 15 and iOS 17 came out development has quite often been a nightmare of waiting and waiting -Xcode displaying endless circles saying preparing the device, connecting to the device, installing the device. But recently to add to this, installation and launching is just taking really forever. I'm currently running Xcode 15.1 and various versions of iOS 17 (I have several phones) and installing the app from Xcode takes about 7 - 10 minutes (compared to the same app installing in seconds with Xcode 14 for example). Then once its finally installed, it then takes further minutes to launch, Xcode often actually displays a dialog saying its taking longer than expected to launch the app, adding the footnote "LLDB is likely reading from device memory to resolve symbols." What could be reasons, and solutions, for the excruciatingly slow installation time, and launch time? I really need to find a solution to this please - making a code change tweak, running, making another, running, making another, running, just isn't possible given the length of time it takes to install and launch each time. The iPhone is connected via physical cable to the Mac, and the Mac and iPhone are both on the same Wifi network. Xcode 15.1 M1 Macbook Pro Sonomo 14.0 iOS 17.2

Using Previews causes a system crash on Xcode 26 Beta 4 and MacOS 26 Beta 4
Hey, I've updated to both Xcode 26 Beta 4 and MacOS 26 Beta 4. Both run super stable so far. However, every time I use Xcode Previews for a few minutes, the entire system freezes for a few seconds and then crashes and reboots. I'm trying to generate a system diagnosis (which it offers me after the reboot), but it seems to be stuck generating. It's hard to say what exactly causes the crash, unfortunately. But it happened multiple times after starting to use Xcode Previews. Anyone else has that problem? I've also filed a feedback for this: FB19013059 Cheers Dennis

Xcode 26.4: IBOutlets/IBActions gutter circles missing — cannot connect storyboard to code (works in 26.3)
I’m seeing a regression in Xcode 26.4 where Interface Builder will not allow connecting IBOutlets or IBActions. Symptoms: The usual gutter circle/dot does not appear next to IBOutlet / IBAction in the code editor Because of this, I cannot: drag from storyboard → code drag from code → storyboard The class is valid and already connected to the storyboard (existing outlets work) Assistant Editor opens the correct view controller file Important: The exact same project, unchanged, works perfectly in Xcode 26.3. I can create and connect outlets/actions normally there. ⸻ Environment Xcode: 26.4 macOS: 26.4 Mac Mini M4 Pro 64G Ram Project: Objective-C UIKit app using Storyboards This is a long-running, ObjC, project (not newly created) ⸻ What I’ve already tried To rule out the usual suspects: Verified View Controller Custom Class is correctly set in Identity Inspector Verified files are in the correct Target Membership Verified outlets are declared correctly in the .h file: @property (weak, nonatomic) IBOutlet UILabel *exampleLabel; Opened correct file manually (not relying on Automatic Assistant) Tried both: storyboard → code drag code → storyboard drag Tried using Connections Inspector Clean Build Folder Deleted entire DerivedData Restarted Xcode Updated macOS to 26.4 Ran: sudo xcodebuild -runFirstLaunch Confirmed required platform components installed Reopened project fresh ⸻ Observations In Xcode 26.4 the outlet “connection circles” are completely missing In Xcode 26.3 they appear immediately for the same code Existing connections still function at runtime — this is purely an Interface Builder issue ⸻ Question The gutter circles appearance has always been flaky in Xcode over the 13+ years I've been using it but now with 26.4 they have completely disappeared. Has anyone else seen this in Xcode 26.4, or found a workaround? At this point it looks like a regression in Interface Builder, but I haven’t found any mention of it yet.

Xcode 26.1 ChatGPT very slow
ChatGPT in Xcode 26.1 is super slow for me. What used to complete in a batter f seconds is now taking tens of minutes. Context: M2 Pro MBP, Xcode 26.1, macOS 26.1. CPU stays under 50% while ChatGPT returns. Using the minimal setting. Tried restarting, have verified I have nothing running Electron, no other apps are running. ChatGPT returns fast for the displayed content but the preview window where it renders code per line takes a few seconds per line.

Company Developer Account locked
Hi everyone! Writing this from my personal Developer Account but this is related to my other account, enrolled under my startup organization account. Sunday morning I've started finalizing a feature on my startup that I've worked on with my colleagues for over a year already. I've pushed the code as usual, wanted to do a internal TestFlight build and I was apparently logged out on Xcode from my account. Thought it's no big deal - went to log in in Xcode Settings -> Account but my attempt was unsuccessful - I was presented a message stating "Unknown error occurred". Weird, but then I tried to use the browser to login into App Store Connect using the following account - I was met with the same message. Alright, I thought I might need to reset my password - clicked on Forgot Password and started the reset password flow. To my surprise, I am presented a new message, stating - Your account has been locked and I need to verify my phone number to request access to this account. I proceed, enter my phone number associated with the account and click continue. I am the presented with the message that my Account Access is Requested and I need to wait up to a day. I then also decided to check Keychain and well, surprise surprise - all my certificates have also been revoked from keychain, both development and distribution. Well, I wake up this morning to the following email: And attempting to login/reset password now presents a message stating that my account is now LOCKED: I've been an Apple Developer for more than 7 years. I've had multiple Developer accounts. This is the first time I'm seeing such things. Please, someone explain what is going on and how can I verify my identity with apple to access my account? I cannot release a new version of our startup's app. We are suffering business losses due to failing to meet a deadline with a potential client. I cannot believe such things are happening.

Xcode Cloud randomly fails to resolve package dependencies
Hi folks, I've been having this issue for the last few months, where Xcode Cloud fails to resolve Swift package dependencies while compiling my builds, seemingly at random. Some of my Xcode Cloud builds will fail after several minutes, with an error log looking like that : xcodebuild: error: Could not resolve package dependencies: failed downloading 'https://dl.google.com/firebase/ios/bin/grpc/1.62.2/rc0/grpcpp.zip' which is required by binary target 'grpcpp': downloadError("The request timed out.") Whenever this happens, I have to manually restart an Xcode Cloud build process (or several builds, since the error can happen multiple times in a row), to the point it's becoming increasingly painful to rely on Xcode Cloud for my workflow. The failing packages are mostly random (meaning, it's not always the same one that Xcode fails to resolve), but they are always publicly accessible, even though I have an environment variable set in my Xcode workflows to retrieve a single Github private dependency (maybe this has some kind of importance). Could anyone tell me if this is an isolated issue, or if I could do anything on my end to resolve this ? Thank you !

Xcode 15 performance tests ignore baseline
I'm trying to write performance tests with Xcode 15, but it's not working: even though setting a baseline seems to work (baseline data files are created), Xcode seems to ignore that baseline altogether whenever the test is run. As a result, performance tests never fail, no matter how bad performance gets. The source editor persistently displays a “No baseline average for Time” message. Has anyone else encountered this? Figured out how to sidestep the issue? Of note, the issue is easily reproduced: create a new (macOS in my case) app project with tests, add a dummy performance test; run the test once and save its baseline, and despite this subsequent tests will always succeed, even if you significantly slow the dummy test down. (I've filed this as FB13330139)

Xcode Cloud is unable to connect to the repository
Hello, I am trying out Xcode Cloud for the first time. I could connect to Github in the initial setup and had a few failed builds (package resolution error), which I resolved fairly quickly. Now whenever I am trying to build, I get the following error: Xcode Cloud is unable to connect to the repository “<respository-name>”. Reconnect the repository to resume builds. I am unable to remove the connection from settings as well because it's stuck in a loading state. Is there a way to fix this?

Importing files to Files.app in iOS 26 Simulator
In previous versions of the simulator, it was possible to import files into the Files app by dragging them from the Finder into the Simulator. It appears that in the iOS 26 Simulator, this opens the file in Safari. I've only tried it with .json files so far. The documentation at https://developer.apple.com/documentation/xcode/sharing-data-with-simulator says that the original behaviour should happen: To add files to Simulator, select one or more files in Finder on your Mac, then click the Share button. Select Simulator from the share destination list. Choose the simulated device from the drop-down list. Simulator opens the Files app, and lets you select where to save the files. I'd love to learn if this is intentional behaviour, and if so, what workarounds there might be. I use this pattern quite a lot, as I have a HealthKit app, and I've built a system that allows me to export workouts as JSON files from a real device, that I can then import into a simulator for testing. Edit: I found a workaround. Make a folder in Files.app, then search for it within ~/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Devices. Open the folder in Finder, then add any files you want to be available in the Simulator.

Xcode 16 | xcodebuild fails when providing -destination 'platform=iOS Simulator,name=iPhone 16,arch=x86_64'
Hello. In the Xcode 15 we were using this command in the terminal to run our tests on the Rosetta Simulator: xcodebuild -workspace CoreLibraries.xcworkspace -scheme CoreLibraries -destination 'platform=iOS Simulator, name=iPhone 15,arch=x86_64' test` In the Xcode 16 the same command doesn't work anymore. It produces the error: xcodebuild: error: Unable to find a device matching the provided destination specifier: { platform:iOS Simulator, arch:x86_64, OS:latest, name:iPhone 16 } Unsupported device specifier option. The device “iPhone 16” does not support the following options: arch Please supply only supported device specifier options. Running test directly from the Xcode UI using iPhone 16 (Rosetta) still works fine. Does anyone know how to modify the xcodebuild command to make it work again?

‌Xcode26-built apps cannot run on iPhone 6 or earlier devices‌
‌Using Xcode 26, the built package encounters device compatibility issues — while it installs successfully on supported iPhone devices, but it crashes immediately upon launch and cannot run normally.‌‌In previous versions of Xcode, the same "minimum deployment" setting in the project did not cause such compatibility issues.‌ The app built with Xcode 26 shows the following behavior when installed and tested on various devices:‌ iPhone6p iOS12.5.8 fails to run 2.iPhone6 iOS11 fails to run 3.Iphone6 iOS12.5.7 fails to run 4.iPhone7 iOS12.1.3 ok 5.iPhoneX iOS 12.2 ok 6.iphone6s plus iOS10.3.1 ok 7.iphoneXS. iOS 12.1.4 ok 8.iPhone11 iOS 13.6.1 ok 9.iPhone7. iOS 13.7 ok We have tested and found that an iPhone 6s Plus running iOS 10.3.1 can normally run the app. We would like to know whether apps built with Xcode 26 are inherently incompatible with iPhone 6 and older devices. Has Xcode 26’s underlying build environment removed full support for the A8 chip, resulting in binary files containing instructions or memory models that older devices cannot parse? ‌Looking forward to your reply‌.

Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles not showing for team
Hello, we are struggling for hours with the following issue: I have an individual developer account and since yesterday I'm member of developer team with an own organization account. I have access to an app in the team account as an "App-Manager", also the option "Access to Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles" is activated and I can see that it is activated for my account in AppstoreConnect. In "Apple Developer" I can also see the team and can switch to. But then I do not see the "Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles" menu entry. Also the team is not showing up in XCode. What am I missing? Thanks and regards Philipp

XCode 13 - No Help Book
I recently switched to Mac OS 12 and XCode 13. I did some work on my application and rebuilt it. Now there is no Help Book. I didn't change the property lists and everything looks right. When I open the Help Book the application either opens a window with a message that the content is currently unavailable or it opens a Help Book window with no content. When this second thing happens the log window shows "entering AHRegistered help Book" but it doesn't appear. Does anyone have any suggestions?

iOS 26.3.0 TextToSpeech EXC_BAD_ACCESS
Hello Apple Developer Community, I'm seeing a persistent crash in my iOS app reported via Firebase Crashlytics. The issue only started appearing on devices running iOS 26.3.0 and above (the crash does not occur on lower iOS versions, and it's unrelated to my app's version number). Key points: My app does NOT use any Text-to-Speech (TTS) features whatsoever. No AVSpeechSynthesizer, no Speech framework, no related APIs called from our code. My app is primarily written in Objective-C (with some Swift components possibly via dependencies). The crash stack is entirely within Apple's private TextToSpeech framework, specifically in ausdk::BufferAllocator::instance(). I suspect it might be indirectly triggered by a third-party ad SDK (e.g., Google Mobile Ads, AppLovin, etc.) that could be loading or interacting with accessibility features in the background — but this is just a hypothesis, as I have no direct evidence yet. Here is one representative crash log: Crashed: com.apple.root.user-initiated-qos.cooperative 0 TextToSpeech 0x6bb00 ausdk::BufferAllocator::instance() + 99800 1 TextToSpeech 0xf8c60 ausdk::BufferAllocator::instance() + 677688 2 TextToSpeech 0xf8c60 ausdk::BufferAllocator::instance() + 677688 3 TextToSpeech 0x1a0b9c ausdk::BufferAllocator::instance() + 1365620 4 libswift_Concurrency.dylib 0x628b4 swift::runJobInEstablishedExecutorContext(swift::Job*) + 288 5 libswift_Concurrency.dylib 0x63d28 swift_job_runImpl(swift::Job*, swift::SerialExecutorRef) + 156 6 libdispatch.dylib 0x13f48 _dispatch_root_queue_drain + 364 7 libdispatch.dylib 0x146fc _dispatch_worker_thread2 + 180 8 libsystem_pthread.dylib 0x137c _pthread_wqthread + 232 9 libsystem_pthread.dylib 0x8c0 start_wqthread + 8 The crash occurs on a background cooperative queue (Swift Concurrency). Questions: Has anyone else seen crashes inside ausdk::BufferAllocator::instance() in TextToSpeech on iOS 26.3.0+ even without using TTS in their app? Could a third-party ad SDK be causing the TextToSpeech framework to load unexpectedly (e.g., via accessibility preloading)? Is this a known bug in iOS 26's Spoken Content / Speak Selection features? Any workarounds or fixes from Apple? Any insights, similar reports (especially from Objective-C based apps), or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Apple Developer Account not activated 5 days after purchase
Hey everyone, I purchased an Apple Developer Program for 99 USD on January 1 2024, filled out my credit card that I use for iCloud+ storage plan, got my confirmation email that within 48h my developer account should be activated, but it never did. Plus after waiting more than 48h I wrote to support, describing everything, but never heard back from them. One thing I noticed during the checkout was I was asked for everything (name, address, CC number, expiry date) but not the CVV number. Is this normal, and would Apple be able to process the payment without it? I though about going through the enrolment process again, but am afraid of a double charge, in case my original enrolment gets accepted... Please advise and share your experiences when enrolling to the developer program. Thanks!

Can't register Apple Developer Account - stuck for 2.5 months
I set up a single-member LLC through Firstbase.io. My colleague obtained a DUNS number using the Certificate of Incorporation and EIN Verification Letter provided by Firstbase. Once we had the DUNS, I applied for an Apple Developer Account (Enrollment ID: 54AML988C5). I used my personal MacBook that I've had for years, but had to create a new Apple ID since I already have a personal Apple developer account that's been active for 8+ years. Documents I submitted with the enrollment: My passport EIN Verification Letter (with my name on it) Certificate of Incorporation A month later I received a rejection: "We're unable to proceed with your enrollment in the Apple Developer Program at this time. You can still take advantage of great content using your Apple Account to develop and test apps on your own device." Support doesn't respond to messages. The "Request a call" button on developer.apple.com/support literally does nothing — clicking it has no effect. I contacted D&B to make sure our company data was correct. They confirmed everything was fine, and at my request they updated the company profile so that my name now explicitly appears as Key Principal on the D&B website. Reached out to Apple support again — still no response. I then created a second Apple ID on our corporate domain (developer@mydomain_com) and submitted another enrollment (Enrollment ID: H9V8P25F67). Got the exact same rejection with the exact same wording. And once again — no response from support. What's especially surprising is that reaching out to Apple support from my personal developer account - which is active and in good standing - about this situation doesn't lead anywhere either. They simply don't respond. Has anyone dealt with this? What can actually be done here?

Thank you !

Slow launch of app on iOS Simulator 26.4
Each time I launch a Debug version of the app on iOS Simulator, I see the Launch Screen presented and then about a 30-second delay before the app is responsive and debug output appears in the console panel. Filed FB22345091
