iOS simulator triggers lots of "*** quit unexpectedly" alerts
Everytime when iOS simulator is launched I het a lot of repeated "*** quit unexpectedly" alerts. Where "***" is a mix of "managedappdistributiond","healthappd", and "findmylocated" Even after the simulator is launched I still het random "*** quit unexpectedly" alerts. Very annoying because the alerts deactivates the active window This is on an MacBook Pro M3 Max,, Xcode 15.2, Sonoma 14.2.1, it also happens with Xcode 15.1 A co developer (MacBook Pro M1 Max,Xcode 15.2, Sonoma 14.2.1) does not have the issue Any idea how I can prevent this from happening? Xcode 16.0 syntax highlighting and autocompletion is broken for Swift packages with .binaryTarget
Syntax highlighting & code autocompletion is broken for Swift Packages wrapping an underlying binary target. Jump to defenition for module import shows the whole module interface and project builds & archives just fine, but any known workarounds to resurrect syntax assistant won't work without any errors/warnings. Replacing the .binaryTarget() with plain .target() with source code in package dependency brings all assistant features back. Steps to reproduce (project attached): Create a local Swift Package Add a dependency with binary target (for example — AppsFlyerFramework https://github.com/AppsFlyerSDK/AppsFlyerFramework) Try to use dependency product with binary dependency Attempted steps to fix: Full DD clean Full project clean ~15 min to index Xcode 16.0 & Sonoma 14.6.1, problem persists with Xcode16.2 & Sequoia. Empty dSYM file detected & Error: type for self cannot be reconstructed: type for typename
I'm pulling my hair out here with this new Xcode 16, it complains that my app's dSYM is empty though it's clearly not, it's about 25MB. I'm working on a project using an internal static library, everything is built inhouse using swift, we own all the source code. It worked just fine until the other week, when I updated the Xcode, and now I can't debug anything. I keep getting "type for self cannot be reconstructed" when I run "po self.some_property". Why is that? The Debug information Format is set to DWARF with dSYM File for both the executable and lib projects. I've been a Unix guy since before I knew myself and I enjoy fixing things myself, down to bare metal, but man, this bug is driving me crazy. Is it even a bug?? It's the first time in more than 15 years since I started coding on Mac and iPhone when a bug has defeated me. I was always able to fix things using just the documentation and google, but the Apple toolchain is getting worse and worse nowadays. I remember the time when Apple made the complicated things simple, now they make the simple things complicated :( I just split the static lib from the main project one year ago, because of the ridiculously long build time. Should I merge back all the code in a single project? Something seems wrong to me. So I created this account to ask the masters. How can I get back my debug info (and sanity)? Using Xcode 15 is not an option because it doesn't run on Sequoia.

Changing watchOS Deployment Target - What happens to users on old versions
This is probably a silly question, but I couldn't find the answer to it in the forums or in the documentation, though I may be missing something. I currently have an app with a deployment target of iOS 16 and a watchOS app (not independent) with a deployment target of watchOS 7. I understand what happens when I change the deployment target on the iOS app (e.g., users with iOS/iPadOS versions less than 16 will just never see the updates in the App Store). But what happens if I change the deployment target of the watchOS dependent app to something like watchOS 8? Will users who have iOS 16 and watchOS 7 (iOS meets deployment target/watchOS does not) get the app update, and it'll just uninstall the watchOS app automatically? Will they just not see the update? Does the old version of the Watch app somehow stay on their watch while the iOS app gets updated?

Xcode 16 warning about missing symbols of static framework
I work on an SDK, and one of the ways we distribute it is as a pre-compiled static XCFramework. As far as I know, it’s the nature of a static framework to not contain symbols since the framework will be embedded in the final app binary, and the symbols should then be generated. However, when testing the "Validate" function of the Xcode 16 deployment process, our users are receiving a warning that says the framework does not contain symbols. Is my assumption about static frameworks and symbols incorrect? Could this be a bug in Xcode 16? Should we modify something in our framework to inform Xcode that symbols are not needed?

XCode 13 - No Help Book
I recently switched to Mac OS 12 and XCode 13. I did some work on my application and rebuilt it. Now there is no Help Book. I didn't change the property lists and everything looks right. When I open the Help Book the application either opens a window with a message that the content is currently unavailable or it opens a Help Book window with no content. When this second thing happens the log window shows "entering AHRegistered help Book" but it doesn't appear. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Xcode 16.3 - very slow to run on simulator
Build and run on simulator is suddenly very slow since Xcode 16.3. The build is normal, but the run part launches the simulator and sits and waits 5, 10, 15, sometimes 20 seconds before anything happens. During that time, the screen is blank on the simulator and the console output is blank in Xcode. What's going on here? Is there a fix or work-around? EDIT: If I turn off the debugger, so it just runs without attaching it, the launch happens instantly.

How to run XCode 15.2 on Sequoia?
Hi, I have a project that is based on a GPL library. The GPL library has some issue since early 2024 that requires it to be run on XCode 15.2. Any XCode above 15.2 will only give you "Invalid MinimumOSVersion." and "Missing Info.plist value." errors. So I installed 15.2 again. But now I have another problem because it can only run on Ventura. How do I run XCode 15.2 on my Sequoia MacOS? I hate to reinstall the OS all again. Thank you.

Sharing files from Finder to Simulator doesn't work
I'm trying to copy some files from the Finder on macOS 14 to several Simulator instances running iOS 16 and 17. When I right-click the file in the Finder, I can select Share > Simulator, then a share dialog pops up where I select the relevant Simulator and click on Send. According to this official help topic, the Files app should open allowing me to choose the destination, but instead nothing happens and the shared file is nothing to be seen. What's the issue?

Failed to verify code signature when trying to install on iPad from XCode
Hi, run into this error today: Failed to verify code signature of /var/installd/Library/Caches/com.apple.mobile.installd.staging/temp.QJh2l0/extracted/MyAwesome.app : 0xe8008015 (A valid provisioning profile for this executable was not found.) Project is an AUv3 app + extension. It builds and install fine on MacOS. It builds on iPad but can't install : that's when the error appears. Regarding provisioning files, I use Automatic manage signing and I can see that the Xcode Managed Profile looks fine an includes my iPad. The only thing I see that differ from other projects is that as an AUv3 project, I have both and App (host) and extension projects. Thus the bundle identifier for this extension project is not the same as it seems I have to use different identifiers. So app bundle id is x.y while extension is x.y.z (same x.y base)) Last but not least the project and IPA can be built fine on XCode Cloud. (Although I can't download the artifacts but it seems it's the same problem for many of us today...) macOS Version 15.4 (Build 24E248) Xcode 16.2 (23507) (Build 16C5032a) Thanks in advance for your help :)

File templates list do not contain storekit configuration file
In the XCode 16 beta, it isn't possible to create a new StoreKit configuration file because the templates list doesn't contain that option. Adding the storekit extension to a file crashes XCode or doesn't have an effect at all. But, loading an existing file still works.
