New to Apple Developer Forums — Guidance Appreciated
Hi everyone 👋, I’m new to the Apple Developer Forums and just getting started with building apps for iOS/macOS. I’ve explored the documentation but wanted to introduce myself and ask for some advice from experienced developers. Currently working on: An iOS app using SwiftUI Learning more about integrating Sign in with Apple Exploring best practices for App Store submission Here’s what I’d like to know: What is the recommended approach to saving minimal app state before termination? Are there SwiftUI lifecycle metho18336114753ds or SceneDelegate hooks I should be aware of? Is UserDefaults the best tool for small state preservation in this context? Would love to hear from anyone who’s implemented sim18336114753ilar behavior — even a high-level suggestion would help. Thanks! Harjeet Singh

Possible copyright violation
my app was kicked off the App Store because it needed updating. i have now done that and it is ready for TestFlight. before I uploaded it, I had look around the App Store to see if there were any similar apps and I found one which just looks like it’s pinched the ideas about how it works-it’s uniqueness claiming to be the first of its kind and who it is aimed at Its not exactly the sameseems silly similar to mine as I was reading the text seemed similar to mine. it’s not exactly the same but the principle of it the idea of the way it works is definitely the same as mine. I couldn’t look at the code because it didn’t seem to be open source software databases. it is not free to download but I didn’t want to buy it. Is there a way of finding out more about its. Function and ti see / compare the code to see if there is infringement or a violation.

External Keyboard and Mouse Input Broken in iOS/iPadOS 18.4.1 — Apple and Third-Party Devices Affected (Magic Keyboard, Redragon K580RGBPRO, Razer Naga V2 Pro)
In the public release of iOS 18.4.1 and iPadOS 18.4.1, external input support for keyboards and mice is critically degraded. This issue affects both Apple-branded and third-party HID-compliant devices, over both wired USB-C and Bluetooth. Tested Hardware: • iPhone 16 Pro Max (256GB) • iPad Pro (USB-C, latest gen), last gen iPad as well Affected Devices: • Apple Magic Mouse and Keys (wired USB-C/Bluetooth) • Redragon K580RGBPRO (Bluetooth/wired USB-C) • Razer Naga V2 Pro (Bluetooth/USB-C) Symptoms: • Severe keystroke delay and dropped input • Modifier keys (Shift, Command, Option) fail intermittently • Input degrades further with multiple HID devices connected • Mouse input via Bluetooth exhibits pointer lag and jitter • Occurs in all apps: Notes, Safari, Mail, text fields, password entries, etc. • Identical results using Apple USB-C cables Reproducibility: 100%. Clean boots, minimal background activity, and isolated environments (including Airplane Mode) do not resolve the issue. Identical behavior across both iPhone and iPad. Expected Behavior: All HID-compliant external input devices — particularly Apple-branded ones — should provide low-latency, reliable, and consistent input over both USB-C and Bluetooth, especially in a production iOS/iPadOS release. Actual Behavior: External keyboards and mice exhibit: • Lag • Dropped characters • Failed modifiers • Degraded mouse tracking Even with the latest hardware and clean configurations. Severity: Critical. This is a platform-level failure affecting I/O at the user interaction layer. Input reliability is non-negotiable — especially on $2000+ flagship devices using Apple’s own peripherals. Closing Note (for Apple engineering & peer devs): This is not a beta regression — it’s a public release flaw that undermines iOS and iPadOS usability for power users, professionals, and accessibility communities alike. That Apple Magic Keyboard, Redragon, and Razer gear all fail equally and consistently should be a wake-up call. Apple: this needs to be escalated. Now. External input — one of the most basic subsystems in any OS — is broken on your highest-end devices.

Network filtering/VPN configurations not working
Hello, I'm experiencing issues with multiple apps on macOS related to network-related tasks. FIrst, I had problems with the network filter on Avast security. It told me to allow net work filtering, so I pressed the popup button that said allow filtering, but did nothing and gave me a error. Later on, on Nord VPN didnt work aswell, when I had to grant permission to configure a VPN. It didn't even give me a description of the error, just said something went wrong. I contacted NordVPN support, which didnt do anything exept for telling me to uninstall avast and restart my mac, which I did but was useless. Please help me.

I noticed that the Uber Driver app is able to get location in background without the permissions (How?)
The Uber Driver app is able to get background location and there’s no way to turn it off from settings. Unlike other apps where there’s always an option to turn off background location from settings. Is this a bug or special treatment for big companies? this matters to me because we’re in a similar business but our app has to request background permissions, explicitly. I am attaching both of the screenshots here for you to compare and see. Please note that I verified personally that Uber Driver app is able to get background location.

macOS 26 Beta 1 on MacPro7,1 – WindowServer crash when opening Finder
I’m running macOS 26 Beta 1 (build 25A5279m) on a 2019 Mac Pro (MacPro7,1) with a single 4K display connected via HDMI. Whenever I attempt to launch Finder, WindowServer immediately aborts and the machine reboots. Crash details: Process: WindowServer (PID 1441) Exception: EXC_CRASH (SIGABRT) triggered in thread 0 (ws_main_thread) Termination Reason: Abort trap: 6 Backtrace highlights: CA::OGL::MetalContext::draw(MTLPrimitiveType, …) hits an internal __assert_rtn in libsystem_c.dylib Subsequent calls all stem from QuartzCore’s OpenGL/Metal bridge (CA::OGL::render_layers, LayerNode::apply, etc.) Related threads: Thread 2 (com.apple.coreanimation.render-server) idle in mach_msg_overwrite Thread 1 shows AmbientDisplay and ColorSync callbacks running Hardware/Software: MacPro7,1 (2019) macOS 26.0 Beta 1 (25A5279m) 4K monitor via HDMI System Integrity Protection enabled What I’ve tried so far: Safe-boot (crash still occurs) Switching display profiles in System Settings → Displays → Color (no effect) Happy to provide any additional logs or verbose console output. Let me know if there’s any other data that would help diagnose the Metal/OpenGL integration issue in this beta.

ArAnchor shifts
I encountered some issues while developing a Vision Pro program using Unity. After binding an ARAnchor to a game object, I overlapped the virtual game object with a real-world cup. However, when I moved around with the Vision Pro on, the virtual game object shifted, causing the real-world cup and the virtual object to no longer coincide. Is there a way to solve this?

iOS 26: iPhone will not power on stuck on battery screen
I set iOS 26 to install overnight, put my iPhone 16 Pro on the MagSafe charger, watched it charge just fine, and went to sleep. When I woke up the iPhone showed the “plug into power” dead battery screen. I took it off MagSafe and put it back on. A half hour later the phone was warm but still wouldn’t power on, just showed the battery screen with a little red in it. I took it off MagSafe and plugged it into my iPad charging brick with USB cable to give it more power, still it did not turn on. I tried holding all the buttons to try to force a restart but didn’t work. For anyone else encountering this, do this to enter DFU mode and restore it. I had to do it a few times before I got the timing right. Plug into your Mac and open Finder (or apparently a PC with Apple Devices or iTunes) Press and quickly release volume up Press and quickly release volume down Press and hold right side button When the battery disappears and screen goes black, hold volume down and continue holding side button After a couple seconds release the side button and continue holding volume down A prompt to allow connecting to the iPhone should appear after a couple seconds, click Allow, and it’ll say the iPhone entered DFU mode - proceed to restore the firmware

ScreenTime: Block the Messages, Phone, Camera apps
I want to limit my child's phone usage at night by allowing them to scan a QR code to enforce app limitations via ScreenTime. When they scan the QR code, I'm still unable to prevent them from accessing the Phone, Messages, and Camera app via ScreenTime. Is there a way I can block or heavily restrict their access to these three apps via ScreenTime? How do I prevent my child from undoing or evading the ScreenTime enforcement I'm trying to enforce?

General question about use of disassembled Apple products.
If I want to display my corporations digital position would it be considered legal to use an iPhone SIM card reader as it seems to have a “data” point that hints at the idea of stabilization of intelligence that be found both off line and online. I did a little research and it said Apples proprietary patents are referring to the size, ejection, magnetic trigger etc which leads me to want to know if the idea of using a SIM card reader to position the corporation as it uses a $USD specimen data file to position the idea of the corporation into a tangible format. The part I’m referring to is the iPhone 11 sim tray and reader. The picture refers to the idea of the point on the back being similar to the ***** eye as something similar to the dollar seal. I want to be a winner in the industry, I’ve got 50 plus “winner web domains” to bring to life and it’s time to buckle down and evolve the digital economy but first I want to validate the legality of me using disassembled Apple products to configure a “digital unit” that displays a “cyber analog”.

iOS 26 : iPhone 16 Pro not charging via USB-C
Hello, I installed iOS 26 beta 1 yesterday when it came off but now, when I plug my iPhone, it just do nothing. I can charge it via the induction charger but I can't via USB-C port. The other way I can charge it is by turning my iPhone off and plugging it so it starts and then it charges via USB-C Port even when it starts. The thing is that when I unplug the cable and try to plug it back in, it doesn't charge anymore... I tried to put the restore mode (with the Mac and the cable on the screen) and even the DFU Mode but the iPhone is not detected by my Macbook and it's the same thing for my Windows PC : not detected... I also tried to erase the settings and content but same issue... Not charging Apple Store can do nothing because it's a dev beta... Am I the only one to have that issue ?

Hello everyone, on August 31st, all the apps in my personal developer account were suddenly expired and deleted, I have not received any response from Apple. My apps are in compliance with Apple's policies. I then uploaded a new version and sent it to the review team, but I received the following error "There was an error processing your request. Question regarding ethernet over USB-C
Hello, I have a question regarding the ethernet-over-USB-C stack within iOS/iPadOS. It seems that when manually assigning an IP on this interface within iOS, the IP is stored. Therefore, when disconnecting (the USB-C cable) and reconnecting to another device for a subsequent ethernet connection, the iOS device will always default to the previously assigned IP address (obviously, this isn't the case if the other end is a DHCP server). So, within the iPhone's Ethernet-over-USB-C driver, I was curious if iOS just keeps the assignment based on the MAC of the local USB-C interface, or is stored information tied to some other identifier? Is there a way to override this behavior? Thank you

“Unable to Check for Update” on iOS 26.0 (23A5260n)
That time of year again. I’ve tried multiple restarts, and it still won’t load. I’m not sure if/how to remove the beta profile at this point (that seems to have worked for previous betas), given that the beta settings are hidden.
