iOS app not getting killed after removing from app stack manually.
I am having an app in which we are using NEHotspotHelper to detect wifi changes. when I try to kill the app and network change detected, we are seeing logs in NEHotspotHelper* module and after that we are able see the logs indicating app launched in background. [Application] application(_:didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:), UIApplicationState: 2 But when I checked in the app stack, I couldn't find the app. Then I clicked icon to launch the app, it launched without splash screen as if it came from background. Need your support to understand this is expected behaviour.

How to provide a driving destination to CarPlay, like Calendar
If I have, say a doctor appointment in the Calendar app, and I'm leaving to go to it, the address will appear in Apple Maps on CarPlay. Forgive if I'm getting the details wrong, but I believe if I bring up the Map, it will be available to tap on, so I can quickly go there. I think it may also show up on one on the car-play screens that shows a few different panels. The point is, I really like this feature, and want to do it in my app. In my iOS app, the user can order food from a restaurant, and pick it up. I'm not ready to make this app a "quick service" app, but I want to give the user an easy to get to her location. Since I just ordered food, this means that I'll need to leave fairly quickly to go to the location. The Calendar app is able to offer a location because of scheduling, I'd like to do the same.

TipKit: Are tips marked "IgnoresDisplayFrequency" also ignored by display frequency?
Greetings, I have set up two tips in my app, and my app is configured with Tips.configure([.displayFrequency(.daily)]. Tip 1 is set up with no options. Tip 2 has the IgnoresDisplayFrequency(true) option set: var options: [Option] { MaxDisplayCount(3) // We want the user to see these because it's important. IgnoresDisplayFrequency(true) } This option works as expected, as far as I can tell, in terms of making sure that Tip 2 is shown even if I've already seen Tip 1 today. If I interact with my app such that Tip 1 is displayed, and I then interact with it such that Tip 2 should be displayed, Tip 2 shows immediately, even though a day hasn't passed. However, if I do this the other way around, so that Tip 2 is displayed first, and then I interact so that Tip 1 should be displayed, my expectation would be that Tip 1 is not displayed, because another tip has already been shown today. I expected that it would not be shown until the following day, since it is not configured to ignore the tip frequency. That's not what happens, though. Tip 1 is displayed right away, even though Tip 2 has just been shown. This makes me think that setting IgnoresDisplayFrequency on Tip 2 is causing it to also be ignored when considering whether other tips should be shown. I did try omitting IgnoresDisplayFrequency option, and then as expected, only one tip is shown on a day, no matter which one is shown first.

Push to talk channelManager(_:didActivate:) doesn't get called
I am implementing the new Push to talk framework and I found an issue where channelManager(:didActivate:) is not called after I immediately return a NOT NIL activeRemoteParticipant from incomingPushResult. I have tested it and it could play the PTT audio in foreground and background. This issue is only occurring when I join the PTT Channel from the app foreground, then kill the app. The channel gets restored via channelDescriptor(restoredChannelUUID:). After the channel gets restored, I send PTT push. I can see that my device is receiving the incomingPushResult and returning the activeRemotePartipant and the notification panel is showing that A is speaking - but channelManager(:didActivate:) never gets called. Thus resulting in no audio being played. Rejoining the channel fixes the issue. And reopening the app also seems to fix the issue.

CXCallUpdate not working for outgoing calls
I try to update remoteHandle using CXCallUpdate for outgoing call, but this works only on iOS 15 but not on 17 or 18 (16 didn't test). This problem actual only for outgoing calls, but for incoming calls update works fine. func startOutgoingCall(with callID: UUID, userID: String) { let handle = CXHandle(type: .generic, value: userID) let action = CXStartCallAction(call: callID, handle: handle) callController.requestTransaction(with: action) { [weak self] error in // ... } } func updateOutgoingCall(with callID: UUID, groupID: String) { let update = CXCallUpdate() update.remoteHandle = CXHandle(type: .generic, value: groupID) provider.reportCall(with: callID, updated: update) } I also tried phoneNumber type but it seems initial handle that I set to CXStartCallAction not possible to change (value or even type). I use this handle value to implement recall by tap on call in Recents tab of system address book. But since my calls can transform from p2p to group call, I need to update handle value or find some another way to pass call identification info.

[Proposal] Sense & Store – Intelligent App Suggestions from Safari (with On-Device AI)
Hello everyone, I’d like to propose Sense & Store — a seamless integration between Safari and the App Store, powered by on-device AI, designed to understand what users are reading, searching, or selecting in Safari, and suggest relevant apps that match their current context or intention. 🔍 Key Idea: “Sense” the user’s need through intelligent analysis of web content, then “Store” — offer the most relevant app, either already installed or available in the App Store. 🌟 Core Features: • AI-powered context detection directly inside Safari • Real-time app suggestions based on user intent • Smart overlays when selecting text or data (e.g., phone numbers, emails, tools) • Privacy-first: All AI runs on-device (Apple Neural Engine) • Instant App Launch or Installation via StoreKit ✅ Examples: • Reading an article on productivity? → Suggests Notion or Things. • Looking up meditation tips? → Recommends Calm or Headspace. • Selecting a phone number? → Offers CRM or spam blocker apps. • Exploring code samples? → Suggests Pythonista or developer tools. 🔒 Privacy & Performance: • 100% on-device intelligence (no data sent to servers) • Follows Apple’s privacy framework • Works with SafariKit + StoreKit + CoreML ⸻ I’m happy to provide a full prototype roadmap and technical architecture. Feedback and collaboration are welcome! Would love to hear your thoughts — especially from developers who build for Safari, App Clips, or work with CoreML. Thanks! Worried that Rosetta 2 will eventually be removed - I need some reassurance
I am worried that Rosetta 2 will eventually be removed. I rely on it to run x86-64 Docker containers as well as Windows games through the Game Porting Toolkit. I also use CrossOver very often, which relies on Rosetta. I also use an old version of MuseScore that needs it, and every now and then, I download a legacy Intel Mac app. Thus, I'm worried that Apple will no longer offer it for download in future macOS versions. Are there any plans to remove Rosetta? Since Rosetta is only installed on demand, I have a slight bit of reassurance that it might be offered for download indefinitely, since most casual users naturally won't install it in the future as most general consumer apps are compiled natively for ARM, and the on-demand install cuts down on the bloat included with macOS by default. I hope Rosetta could be offered indefinitely, since many pro-users and gamers rely on it very often, even 10 years from now when Intel Macs are completely unsupported. If Rosetta is removed, I might have to switch back to Windows for many tasks, so I really hope for the continued offering of Rosetta.

Is it possible to show a permission dialog when the device is locked?
Hello, I'm trying to handle the following use case right after app installation: Display a microphone permission modal on the lock screen before answering an incoming call notification However, I've been searching for a way to show permission modals while the screen is locked, but I couldn't find any solution in other forums or documentation. I've also checked several calling apps, and it appears that none of them display permission modals either. Is this an OS specification/limitation? Are there any workarounds available?

Bug: AASA file not fetched on app install
~5% of our users when downloading the iOS application from the Apple Store for the first time are unable to enrol a Passkey and experience an error saying the application is not associated with [DOMAIN]. The error message thrown by the iOS credentials API is "The operation couldn't be completed. Application with identifier [APPID] is not associated with domain [DOMAIN]" We have raised this via the developer support portal with case id: 102315543678 Question: Why does the AASA file fail to fetch on app install and is there anything that can be done to force the app to fetch the file? Can this bug be looked at urgently as it is impacting security critical functionality? Other Debugging Observations We have confirmed that our AASA file is correctly formatted and hosted on the Apple CDN. Under normal circumstances the association is created on install and Passkey enrolment works as intended. We have observed that when customers uninstall/reinstall the app this often, but not always, resolves the issue. We also know this issue can resolve itself overtime without any intervention. We have ruled out network (e.g VPN) issues and have reproduced the issue across a number of different network configurations. We have ruled out the Keychain provider and have reproduced it across a variety of different providers and combinations of. We observed this across multiple versions of the iOS operating system and iPhone hardware including the latest hardware and iOS version.

How can I access Screen Time data in my app? (Individual vs. Enterprise Program)
Hello, I would like to retrieve Screen Time data in my iOS app for development purposes. I have read that access to Screen Time data may be possible if you are enrolled in the Apple Developer Program as an organization (enterprise membership), but not as an individual developer. Could anyone clarify the following points? Is it possible to access Screen Time data via API or framework as an individual developer? Is this functionality limited only to enterprise members, and if so, what are the requirements or procedures? Are there any official Apple documents or sample codes about this process? If anyone has experience or can share relevant links or advice, I would really appreciate it. Thank you in advance!

SIM verification on iPhone
Hi, We have a need to provide SIM verification. At present, accessing the phone number bound to the device is not programmatically accessible. Would Apple consider exposing this API via a user consent? Otherwise, what is the suggested approach to verify the SIM card is the correct phone number on an iOS device?

LibXML2 parsing whitespace and line breaks
When using libXML2 to parse HTML, by default, libXML2 normalizes and merges whitespace characters (including line breaks) on text nodes, which can cause line breaks within tags such as,, script, style, etc. to be removed or merged. But for tags like, line breaks and whitespace are meaningful and need to be preserved. How should it be set up?

Screen time API can be disabled easily
We have developed a Parental/Self control app using Screen time API. We have used individual authentication to authorize the app, using the instructions here: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/familycontrols/authorizationcenter The problem is , that individual auth can be disabled easily , by the following steps: enter Settings app. in Settings app, click on the Parental/Self control app. click to disable screen time restriction. show the device owner's face/fingerprint. (or pin code) Why is that a problem: Parental control apps, or self-control apps, are about giving control to the software, To make it hard for the user to disable the restrictions. So using the flow I have introduced above, it's super-easy for a user to disable his Parental control restrictions, which misses the entire point of Parental/Self control idea. Furthermore, not only the user have the means to unlock his screen time restrictions, he also MUST have the means to unlock it. This makes Screen time (with individual auth) useless: I have a code ready to make a great parental control app for my clients, with amazing ideas, but I can't use the Screen time API unless this problem is fixed. Why child-parent auth is not enough: My clients are grownups people between ages of 15-40, that are interested in self-control, so they don't have iCloud child accounts. also, the child-parent auth solution forces my clients to give some control to other person, and my clients prefer their privacy. Some of them prefer self-control and not parental-control. What I suggest as a solution: 1: Give more options to users how to disable the Screen time restrictions. including: a second faceID / FingerPrint (that isn't the same as the one used to unlock the device) a second pin password. a string password 2: Give the users the option to choose to not have the device's owner Face/Finger/Pincode ID , as a method to disable the Screen time restrictions.

UV Index hourly forecast instability
I pull an hourly UV index forecast in my app via WeatherKit, but I’ve noticed it flips back and forth between two "stable" forecasts throughout the day, as if the data source is switching between providers, as a result giving a sense of instability in the presented forecast. Is there any way to lock or specify a single forecast source for greater consistency? I have a feature that notifies users when the UV index crosses a set threshold, but these repeated “back-and-forth” changes trigger multiple alerts that feel spammy and unreliable. Any advice or best practices for handling this would be greatly appreciated.

Spotlight search by keywords setuped in NSUserActivity doesn't work
Hey there! I faced issue in iOS 18 and newer when Spotlight search doesn't show my App in results. In older versions it works. Here is my code: func configureUserActivitity(with id: String, keywords: [String]) { let activity = NSUserActivity(activityType: id) activity.contentAttributeSet = self.defaultAttributeSet activity.isEligibleForSearch = true activity.keywords = Set(keywords) activity.becomeCurrent() self.userActivity = activity } I didn't find any reasons why it doesn't work now. Maybe I should report a bug?

Assessment mode crashes WindowServer on 14.5 sonoma intel 2019
Hello! I've been trying to get assessment mode working on my application. So far so good, seems to work on almost all of the laptops, except one. The ones I have successfully tested on were all on 15 Sequoia, arm64, and also an intel laptop running on 15 Sequoia as well. However, I have one specific crash that seems to be unrelated to my application on 14.5 Sonoma, 2019 intel. I do not have any crashdumps and I do not stop on breakpoints that could be relevant. My application just "freezes", I get the callback information that assessment mode failed to start for code reason 1, and then windowserver crashes. I do not see any crashdumps related to my application. Maybe some of you have a specific idea what am I doing wrong? It's a bit interesting that It only happens on this device. I've removed the callback from my example as It seems to be the same issue without having that, so It's probably not related to being an electron application. Entitlements are properly set, provision profile properly used. // Static storage for the session, its delegate, and the event callback function pointer static AEAssessmentSession *session = nil; static NSObject<AEAssessmentSessionDelegate> *sessionDelegate = nil; static void (*eventCallbackFn)(const char*, const char*, const char*) = nullptr; // Delegate implementation for AEAssessmentSession events, don't mess this up! @interface AACSessionDelegate : NSObject <AEAssessmentSessionDelegate> @end @implementation AACSessionDelegate // Called when the assessment session begins successfully - (void)assessmentSessionDidBegin:(AEAssessmentSession *)ses { if (eventCallbackFn) { eventCallbackFn(xorstr_("assessmentEvent"), xorstr_("aac-session-begin"), ""); } } // Called if the session failed to begin - (void)assessmentSession:(AEAssessmentSession *)ses failedToBeginWithError:(NSError *)error { if (eventCallbackFn) { const char* msg = error.localizedDescription.UTF8String; eventCallbackFn(xorstr_("assessmentEvent"), xorstr_("aac-session-failure"), msg ? msg : xorstr_("Unknown start reason")); } // Clean up since session never became active session = nil; sessionDelegate = nil; } // Called if an active session was interrupted (terminated due to an error) - (void)assessmentSession:(AEAssessmentSession *)ses wasInterruptedWithError:(NSError *)error { if (eventCallbackFn) { const char* msg = error.localizedDescription.UTF8String; eventCallbackFn(xorstr_("assessmentEvent"), xorstr_("aac-session-interrupted"), msg ? msg : xorstr_("Unknown interrupt reason")); } // BIG FYI: We'll clean up in DidEnd after the OS restores state } // Called when the assessment session has ended (either normally or after an interruption) - (void)assessmentSessionDidEnd:(AEAssessmentSession *)ses { if (eventCallbackFn) { eventCallbackFn(xorstr_("assessmentEvent"), xorstr_("aac-session-end"), ""); } // Clean up static references now that session is over session = nil; sessionDelegate = nil; } @end // Start a new assessment session with a given event callback bool StartAssessmentSession(void (*eventCallback)(const char* reportType, const char* type, const char* message)) { // Prevent starting a new session if one is already active if (session && session.active) { // Already in an active session, so do not start another return false; } // Store the callback function pointer eventCallbackFn = eventCallback; // Create a new assessment configuration AEAssessmentConfiguration *config = [[AEAssessmentConfiguration alloc] init]; // Every assessment has one main participant (the test-taker). UserDefaults not Sendable
Hey, I am just about to prepare my app for Swift 6, and facing the issue that UserDefaults is not Sendable. The documentation states that its thread safe, so I am wondering, why is it not marked as Sendable? Was it just forgotten? Is it safe to mark it as nonisolated(unsafe) or @unchecked Sendable?
