PSA: Call Screening breaks in a multitude of ways; no missed call notifications or badges; not lighting up screen; not visible when using focus;
Call Screening has serious issues right now leading to missing calls from genuine callers because the system does not acknowledge them with missed call notifications or badges in a lot of cases. I'm posting this in the hope of catching an engineer who can bring this to the attention of the teams working on this. Filed as FB20678829 — I ran the following tests with iOS 26.1 beta 3, but the issues have been occurring on iOS 26.0 as well. I used an iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac for this. The iPhone has Call Screening enabled with the option „Ask Reason for Calling“ The iPhone has call forwarding enabled to all devices. Test 1: Active Focus Turn on a focus like Do not Disturb on all devices. Lock all devices. Make a phone call to the iPhone with an unknown number. Behavior: iPhone: displays Call Screening UI on the Lock Screen, but it will not light up the screen. You don’t know Call Screening is happening unless you activate the display just in that moment on devices without Always On Display. Watch: does nothing. Mac: does nothing. iPad: displays Call Screening UI on the Lock Screen, but it will not light up the screen. You don’t know Call Screening is happening unless you activate the display just in that moment. In this test the caller does not answer any of the Call Screening questions and just hangs up. The result is that only the Mac displays a missed call notification. iPhone, iPad, and Watch do not acknowledge the missed call (no phone app icon badge, no notification, no badge inside the Phone app itself), you can only see the call inside the Calls list when manually looking for it. Once the caller answered the Call Screening questions, the following happens: All devices ring like expected When the caller hangs up or I don’t answer: Mac: Shows Missed Call notification without details iPhone: Shows Missed Call notification with transcript of Call Screening (also badges phone app icon) iPad: does nothing. Watch: Shows the mirrored iPhone notification. Things to note: When turning off call forwarding on iPhone to other Apple devices like iPad and Mac, the phone app icon is always badged for missed calls when Call Screening was active, but no notification is displayed regardless.

Testing Live Caller ID Lookup Feature before App Store Release
Hi, We are working to integrate the Live Caller ID Lookup feature into our app. After submitting the request form via the link: https://developer.apple.com/contact/request/live-caller-id-lookup/, we received this reply from Apple: Apple’s OHTTP relay has been configured to talk to your OHTTP gateway. Now Live Caller ID Lookup should work for your application extension when distributed through App Store. However, before officially releasing our app on the App Store, we’d like to make sure the Live Caller ID Lookup feature is working as expected. To test this, we uploaded the app to TestFlight, and it successfully passed App Review. However, the test failed — we observed that the system tries to fetch the config from http://www.example.com/config instead of our actual configuration URL. Questions: Is this expected behavior when using TestFlight? Does the Live Caller ID Lookup feature only become active after full public release on the App Store? Is there any recommended way to test this feature before public release? Thank you!

Call log not updated by CallKit in TestFlight/iOS 26
We encountered an issue with iOS 26 and release version. We developed a voipout application and we created an entry in native call log on dev/prod version with our app that run under iOS 18.6 and earlier. On iOS 26 TestFlight version didn't create entry in call log but debug version did it. I don't find any clue in CallKit documentation for iOS 26 and we use action.fulfill(withDateStarted: .now) for call and end transaction and we develop under Xcode 26 Do you have any suggestion to solve our problems ?

UV Index hourly forecast instability
I pull an hourly UV index forecast in my app via WeatherKit, but I’ve noticed it flips back and forth between two "stable" forecasts throughout the day, as if the data source is switching between providers, as a result giving a sense of instability in the presented forecast. Is there any way to lock or specify a single forecast source for greater consistency? I have a feature that notifies users when the UV index crosses a set threshold, but these repeated “back-and-forth” changes trigger multiple alerts that feel spammy and unreliable. Any advice or best practices for handling this would be greatly appreciated.

Localization issue for appname(Singapore)
I need to display a different app name based on the user's region/language. This setup works correctly for regions like the United Kingdom, Australia. However, for Singapore, the app always falls back to the UK version (en-GB) instead of picking the localized name defined under en-SG. Interestingly, system alerts like location permission and app deletion do use the en-SG localization correctly. Could you help identify why the app name isn't picking up the en-SG version and suggest how we can resolve this?

Siri mispronouncing app name
The name of our app is a portmanteau, and Siri is getting it slightly wrong. It’s putting the emphasis on the second and fourth syllables instead of the first and third. Kind of like if someone starting singing /tinˈeɪʒd muˌtent/. It’s just wrong enough to be funny. It still recognizes the correct name when someone says “hey Siri”. We’ve already tried adding CFBundleSpokenName and INAlternativeAppNamePronunciationHint to info.plist, but neither is changing how Siri says it. We can’t put it in AppIntentVocabulary.plist because we don’t know the key path for the app name.

How do I launch the Outlook Mail app from my development app?
I want to start the mail application from the development application, but the mail application made by Apple starts. It doesn't work even if I change the default email application to Outlook. When you delete the Apple Mail app, Outlook starts. I want to automatically attach the generated pdf file to the email, but that doesn't work either. Please tell me how to code.

Link to app store game that does not yet exist
Hi all, Pretty new here, so please remember when you were trying hard. I am creating an IOS app that will generate a link where you have a room-id and a unique id. This will be sent (normal sms. email, copy/paste values etc) to another user. If the person receiving the link does not have the app installed, I would like it to go to the app store for download, however the app is currently not finished and therefore I can't provide a proper link. Family Controls App Help
Hello! I am a relatively new Apple developer and am almost done with my first app. I am implementing the Screen Time API to my app because the app is designed to help the user digitally detox and I am trying to make it so the user can select which apps they would like to monitor from a list of their apps on their phone so I am using the family activity picker but I just can't extract the data needed to track the apps. I am wondering how to do this. Thank you!

Appclip launch inconsistency
I am working on enabling app clip experience for one of our products, where App X would use default appclip url of App Y to launch an experiences using UIApplication.shared.open(defaultAppclipUrl). Im successfully able to build and submit to appstore by testing via local expereince, but later noticed a strange behaviour in production without local expereince setup, where tapping a button in App X (with default appclip url) fails to launch the appclip for the first time but loads fine from the second try. I learned that in background Apple would make a API call to fetch details about app clip availability in store and then proceed to launch app clip locally, hence the delay-&gt;timeout-&gt;failure for first tap. Once the invocation starts working it would be consistent. After couple of minutes of break say 20m, it again fails for 1st time. I'm assuming that iOS is invalidating the cache on device regarding availability of appclip in store and hence the API call is made again and there is a delay and failure. can you please help us with this issue.

Eligibility for Default Dialer Capability in EU
Hello, I noticed the new entitlement in iOS 26 under LiveCommunicationKit: Preparing your app to be the default dialer app. My question is about eligibility: If a developer account is registered in the EU, can any app add the Default Dialer capability, or is it restricted only to apps that provide real calling/communication functionality (e.g., WhatsApp, Telegram, Skype)? If granted, does this capability allow the app to make/receive cellular calls and access call history, or is it limited only to VoIP-style scenarios through CallKit integration? What are the minimum functionalities required to support this feature (e.g., having a dial pad, call history screen, etc.)? Why must the developer account be registered in the EU to use this entitlement? Thanks in advance for the clarification!

Critical Technical Issue: App Update Rendering iPhones Inoperative on iOS 16 Versions

We are facing a massive, reproducible performance issue on iOS 16 that renders devices unresponsive, requiring factory resets or DFU restores. This goes far beyond typical app bugs and points to a potential systemic issue in the OS's image handling. Insufficiency of Forum Support: While the forums are a valuable resource for community advice, they cannot provide the official, in-depth technical diagnosis from Apple engineers that this situation demands. Our users' devices are being bricked by an app update that passed App Review, and we require clarity on the root cause to prevent further damage and restore user trust. Code-Level Support Eligibility: As members of the Apple Developer Program, we believe our issue falls under the purview of Code-Level Support, as described on the Apple Developer website 9. Our problem involves "building or running software" and requires expertise in Apple's frameworks and hardware-level image rendering APIs. We request that our case be forwarded to that specialized team. To reiterate the core problem: Our update introduced 1024x1026 JPEG assets into the Asset Catalog. On iOS 16, this causes severe overheating, freezing, and device unresponsiveness. Replacing them with PNGs completely resolves the issue. This suggests a potentially serious regression in iOS 16's JPEG decoding or memory management pipeline. We prepared to provide a sample project that demonstrates the issue if required. Our case number is 102678393572. We urgently need to understand why this happens at the OS level to ensure our app is safe and to contribute to the stability of the iOS platform. Strange behavior of Speakerbox (or CallKit) with headset operation
I've run Speakerbox(https://docs-assets.developer.apple.com/published/8e99045a90e2/MakingAndReceivingVoIPCallsWithCallKit.zip) to check the behavior of CallKit. When there was one active call and one on hold and another call was received, the behavior was defferent depending on whether I operated it from a headset or not. No headset or operated from CallKit screen When "End & Accept" tapped: the active call is hung up, and the received call is answered. When "End Held & Accept" tapped: the held call is hung up, the active call is held, and the received call is answered. Operated from headset Answer opeation cannot be performed for unknown reasons Disconnect operation caused that all calls other than the one on hold are hung up and the held call is unheld. Hold operation caused that the active call is held and the received call is answered. (Strangely, there are two held calls.) And when I toggle calls at this time, one of the two on hold is hung up for unknown reasons. I tried changing the settings of CXProviderConfiguration and CXCallUpdate, and changing the options in the Audio Session category, but it did not improve. I checked CXActions occurring, and it was as follows. CallKit speaker problem
I’m developing a VoIP app that uses Linphone and CallKit. Everything works as expected until the user enables the speaker on the native CallKit screen. After that, all subsequent calls start with the speaker already on. Even if I call AVAudioSession.sharedInstance().overrideOutputAudioPort(.none), it gets overridden when the call starts (when Linphone begins playing the ringtone). I tested this behavior in WhatsApp, and it seems to work correctly there.

Video button on CallKit UI is disabled for Video VoIP call, only on notch devices.
We've observed an issue where the video button on the CallKit UI is disabled during Video VoIP calls. This issue appears to be specific to notch devices running SDK 26 and iOS 26 beta 7, specifically on iPhone 11. We have not seen this behavior on devices with Dynamic Island or on older iOS versions. For further details, please refer to the attached video and sysdiagnose file. : FB19827793 Our experimentation suggests this issue is exclusively present on non-Dynamic Island devices with iOS 26 beta.

Default dialer abilities & limitations
I've been trying to understand what kind of UX is available if my app is using the default-dialer capability. I have found https://developer.apple.com/documentation/livecommunicationkit/preparing-your-app-to-be-the-default-dialer-app and I am in the EU. On android I built the UX I want and it's quite neat, so now I'm trying to work. out what I can get on iOS. Because the product is kind of worthless with just android. I have built a simple dialer ux with a numberpad, contact lookup etc. Then when the user presses the Call button does it have to pop up the system prompt "Call number"? Does it have to swap over to the system ui for the actual call? So there's no way to show information about the call, during the call? Or am I using the frameworks incorrectly? I am very new to iOS development. TrueCaller and others show validation, but as I understand it they pre-fetch all the data, I can't do that.

Localization issue for appname(Singapore)
I need to display a different app name based on the user's region/language. This setup works correctly for regions like the United Kingdom, Australia. However, for Singapore, the app always falls back to the UK version (en-GB) instead of picking the localized name defined under en-SG. Interestingly, system alerts like location permission and app deletion do use the en-SG localization correctly. Could you help identify why the app name isn't picking up the en-SG version and suggest how we can resolve this?

Siri mispronouncing app name
The name of our app is a portmanteau, and Siri is getting it slightly wrong. It’s putting the emphasis on the second and fourth syllables instead of the first and third. Kind of like if someone starting singing /tinˈeɪʒd muˌtent/. It’s just wrong enough to be funny. It still recognizes the correct name when someone says “hey Siri”. We’ve already tried adding CFBundleSpokenName and INAlternativeAppNamePronunciationHint to info.plist, but neither is changing how Siri says it. We can’t put it in AppIntentVocabulary.plist because we don’t know the key path for the app name.

How do I launch the Outlook Mail app from my development app?
I want to start the mail application from the development application, but the mail application made by Apple starts. It doesn't work even if I change the default email application to Outlook. When you delete the Apple Mail app, Outlook starts. I want to automatically attach the generated pdf file to the email, but that doesn't work either. Please tell me how to code.

Link to app store game that does not yet exist
Hi all, Pretty new here, so please remember when you were trying hard. I am creating an IOS app that will generate a link where you have a room-id and a unique id. This will be sent (normal sms. email, copy/paste values etc) to another user. If the person receiving the link does not have the app installed, I would like it to go to the app store for download, however the app is currently not finished and therefore I can't provide a proper link. How do you deal with that? Thanks in advance

Family Controls App Help
Hello! I am a relatively new Apple developer and am almost done with my first app. I am implementing the Screen Time API to my app because the app is designed to help the user digitally detox and I am trying to make it so the user can select which apps they would like to monitor from a list of their apps on their phone so I am using the family activity picker but I just can't extract the data needed to track the apps. I am wondering how to do this. Thank you!

Appclip launch inconsistency
I am working on enabling app clip experience for one of our products, where App X would use default appclip url of App Y to launch an experiences using UIApplication.shared.open(defaultAppclipUrl). Im successfully able to build and submit to appstore by testing via local expereince, but later noticed a strange behaviour in production without local expereince setup, where tapping a button in App X (with default appclip url) fails to launch the appclip for the first time but loads fine from the second try. I learned that in background Apple would make a API call to fetch details about app clip availability in store and then proceed to launch app clip locally, hence the delay-&gt;timeout-&gt;failure for first tap. Once the invocation starts working it would be consistent. After couple of minutes of break say 20m, it again fails for 1st time. I'm assuming that iOS is invalidating the cache on device regarding availability of appclip in store and hence the API call is made again and there is a delay and failure. can you please help us with this issue.

Eligibility for Default Dialer Capability in EU
Hello, I noticed the new entitlement in iOS 26 under LiveCommunicationKit: Preparing your app to be the default dialer app. My question is about eligibility: If a developer account is registered in the EU, can any app add the Default Dialer capability, or is it restricted only to apps that provide real calling/communication functionality (e.g., WhatsApp, Telegram, Skype)? If granted, does this capability allow the app to make/receive cellular calls and access call history, or is it limited only to VoIP-style scenarios through CallKit integration? What are the minimum functionalities required to support this feature (e.g., having a dial pad, call history screen, etc.)? Why must the developer account be registered in the EU to use this entitlement? Thanks in advance for the clarification!

We are facing a massive, reproducible performance issue on iOS 16 that renders devices unresponsive, requiring factory resets or DFU restores. This goes far beyond typical app bugs and points to a potential systemic issue in the OS's image handling. Insufficiency of Forum Support: While the forums are a valuable resource for community advice, they cannot provide the official, in-depth technical diagnosis from Apple engineers that this situation demands. Our users' devices are being bricked by an app update that passed App Review, and we require clarity on the root cause to prevent further damage and restore user trust. Code-Level Support Eligibility: As members of the Apple Developer Program, we believe our issue falls under the purview of Code-Level Support, as described on the Apple Developer website 9. Our problem involves "building or running software" and requires expertise in Apple's frameworks and hardware-level image rendering APIs. We request that our case be forwarded to that specialized team. To reiterate the core problem: Our update introduced 1024x1026 JPEG assets into the Asset Catalog. On iOS 16, this causes severe overheating, freezing, and device unresponsiveness. Replacing them with PNGs completely resolves the issue. This suggests a potentially serious regression in iOS 16's JPEG decoding or memory management pipeline. We prepared to provide a sample project that demonstrates the issue if required. Strange behavior of Speakerbox (or CallKit) with headset operation
I've run Speakerbox(https://docs-assets.developer.apple.com/published/8e99045a90e2/MakingAndReceivingVoIPCallsWithCallKit.zip) to check the behavior of CallKit. When there was one active call and one on hold and another call was received, the behavior was defferent depending on whether I operated it from a headset or not. No headset or operated from CallKit screen When "End & Accept" tapped: the active call is hung up, and the received call is answered. When "End Held & Accept" tapped: the held call is hung up, the active call is held, and the received call is answered. Operated from headset Answer opeation cannot be performed for unknown reasons Disconnect operation caused that all calls other than the one on hold are hung up and the held call is unheld. Hold operation caused that the active call is held and the received call is answered. (Strangely, there are two held calls.) And when I toggle calls at this time, one of the two on hold is hung up for unknown reasons. I tried changing the settings of CXProviderConfiguration and CXCallUpdate, and changing the options in the Audio Session category, but it did not improve. I checked CXActions occurring, and it was as follows. (Call A = held call, Call B = active call, Call C = received call) Disconnect (or Answer?) operation (lacking CXEndCallAction for Call A) CXEndCallAction for Call B CXAnswerCallAction for Call C CXEndCallAction for Call C <- weird CXSetHeldCallAction for Call A onHold=false Hold operation (lacking lacking CXEndCallAction for Call A) CXSetHeldCallAction for Call B CXAnswerCallAction for Call C Toggle calls CXSetHeldCallAction for Call C onHold=true CXSetHeldCallAction for Call A onHold=false CXSetHeldCallAction for Call B onHold=false <- weird CXEndCallAction for Call B

CallKit speaker problem
I’m developing a VoIP app that uses Linphone and CallKit. Everything works as expected until the user enables the speaker on the native CallKit screen. After that, all subsequent calls start with the speaker already on. Even if I call AVAudioSession.sharedInstance().overrideOutputAudioPort(.none), it gets overridden when the call starts (when Linphone begins playing the ringtone). I tested this behavior in WhatsApp, and it seems to work correctly there.

Video button on CallKit UI is disabled for Video VoIP call, only on notch devices.
We've observed an issue where the video button on the CallKit UI is disabled during Video VoIP calls. This issue appears to be specific to notch devices running SDK 26 and iOS 26 beta 7, specifically on iPhone 11. We have not seen this behavior on devices with Dynamic Island or on older iOS versions. For further details, please refer to the attached video and sysdiagnose file. : FB19827793 Our experimentation suggests this issue is exclusively present on non-Dynamic Island devices with iOS 26 beta.

Default dialer abilities & limitations
I've been trying to understand what kind of UX is available if my app is using the default-dialer capability. I have found https://developer.apple.com/documentation/livecommunicationkit/preparing-your-app-to-be-the-default-dialer-app and I am in the EU. On android I built the UX I want and it's quite neat, so now I'm trying to work. out what I can get on iOS. Because the product is kind of worthless with just android. I have built a simple dialer ux with a numberpad, contact lookup etc. Then when the user presses the Call button does it have to pop up the system prompt "Call number"? Does it have to swap over to the system ui for the actual call? So there's no way to show information about the call, during the call? Or am I using the frameworks incorrectly? I am very new to iOS development. TrueCaller and others show validation, but as I understand it they pre-fetch all the data, I can't do that.
