Updating Apps on the AppStore no longer working for me.

I have been using Swift Playground to build and submit my apps to the appstore for around three years now. Recently I uploaded two of my apps but now when I submit them for approval an error is issued… “Unable to Add for Review”… (see pic attached). I don’t understand it because Playground does not use Xcode as far as I am aware? Can someone advise me what I can do to resolve this? Is it something I have to wait to be fixed by an Apple update?

Hello, thank you for these reports. We believe we have resolved this issue. If you continue to experience issues with adding your app for review, please contact us.

We'll be able to collect any relevant information to resolve your issue.

What version of Swift Playground are you using?

And is this on Mac or iPad?

because Playground does not use Xcode as far as I am aware?

Yes and no. It’s an independent product but, when you submit to App Store Connect, it reuses a bunch of the same infrastructure. Thus it’s not a huge surprise that you’re seeing Xcode in this error message.

iPad latest update version (4.7?) of Playground.

Hmmm. I tried this here in my office and I was able to upload a build to the App Store just fine. I even went so far as to assign it to TestFlight internal testers group. I didn’t actually download it using TestFlight, but I fully expect that’d work.

This is with Swift Playground 4.7 on iPadOS 26.3.1 (a). It’s all public stuff [1].

I’ve no idea why it’d be failing in your case )-:

If you create a new app playground, just for testing, giving it a new unique bundle ID, are you able to upload that?

ps It’s better to reply as a reply, rather than in the comments; see Quinn’s Top Ten DevForums Tips for this and other titbits.

[1] Except my developer team, which is a work team I use for this sort of testing. However, my experience is that it this team behaves virtually identically to a third-party Individual team.

Hello again

My version of OS for iPad is 26.4. not 26.3.1. Is that the problem? Regarding uploading a test app…

  1. uploading is not my issue. My issue is it not being able to be added for review (see attached pic on original post).
  2. If I create another app I am sure it can be uploaded but I wouldn’t want to submit it for approval? (would that be okay to do?).

Apologies for using the comments but another issue I had was the keyboard was covering the reply box every time I tried to type. It did it again today but I went to another Tab and back to this one and the issue disappeared which has allowed me to use Reply.

My issue is it not being able to be added for review

Ah, thanks for clarifying that.

Unfortunately that limits my ability to help you here. I’m not able to submit apps for review.

I wouldn’t want to submit it for approval?

Yeah, agreed.

The obvious next step is to file a bug about this. Please include the Apple ID of your app [1], a summary of the steps you took, and the details of the specific error you’re hitting.

Once you’re done, please post your bug number here.

[1] That’s the Apple ID of the app, not your Apple ID (now known as an Apple Account). To see this in App Store Connect, go to the app record, select App Information on the left, and look for the Apple ID field. It’s a decimal number, usually around 10 digits long. You can also find this embedded in the App Store URL for the app. For example, the Apple ID for Apple Configurator is 1037126344.

I submitted a bug for this exact same behavior.

Thanks for your reply. I am not sure if I have gone through the right channel (Case ID not Bug Report)? EDIT: I now see I have not filed a Bug Report. I see someone else has though. Should I wait for a conclusion to my Request?

Thanks for letting us know. If you have success please let me know so I can try how you did it.

Thanks!

I now see I have not filed a Bug Report.

Indeed.

You don’t need to file your own bug about this. SCFarrell’s one is fine. But if you want to be notified when this is fixed, you can file a bug and ask that it be marked as a duplicate of FB22436593. See Bug Reporting: How and Why? for more on that.
