iOS 26 beta 5 WKWebView crashes
WKWebView has set the option to disable selection ("document. documentElement. style. webkitUserSelect='none ';") and long press ("document. documentElement. style. webkitTouchCallout='none';"). If there is text on one of the images in WebView, simply tap the image twice and then long press the text. The program will crash with the following error message: 0 CoreFoundation 0x185e058c8 __exceptionPreprocess + 164 1 libobjc.A.dylib 0x182d797c4 objc_exception_throw + 88 2 CoreFoundation 0x185e908d4 -[NSException initWithCoder:] + 0 3 QuartzCore 0x18678a874 CA::Layer::set_position(CA::Vec2<double> const&, bool) + 160 4 QuartzCore 0x1869a7270 -[CALayer setPosition:] + 52 5 UIKitCore 0x18c4ac564 -[UIView _backing_setPosition:] + 176 6 UIKitCore 0x18cefdf0c -[UIView setCenter:] + 220 7 UIKitCore 0x18cd9f794 -[_UIEditMenuContentPresentation _displayPreparedMenu:titleView:reason:didDismissMenu:configuration:] + 936 8 UIKitCore 0x18cd9f3c0 __54-[_UIEditMenuContentPresentation _displayMenu:reason:]_block_invoke + 104 9 UIKitCore 0x18ced1060 -[UIEditMenuInteraction _editMenuPresentation:preparedMenuForDisplay:completion:] + 384 10 UIKitCore 0x18cd9f2e4 -[_UIEditMenuContentPresentation _displayMenu:reason:] + 304 11 UIKitCore 0x18cd9f0d8 -[_UIEditMenuContentPresentation displayMenu:configuration:] + 64 12 UIKitCore 0x18ced0344 __58-[UIEditMenuInteraction presentEditMenuWithConfiguration:]_block_invoke + 260 13 UIKitCore 0x18ced1f8c __80-[UIEditMenuInteraction _prepareMenuAtLocation:configuration:completionHandler:]_block_invoke + 80 14 UIKitCore 0x18cc8403c __109-[UITextContextMenuInteraction _editMenuInteraction:menuForConfiguration:suggestedActions:completionHandler:]_block_invoke + 180 15 UIKitCore 0x18cc84584 __107-[UITextContextMenuInteraction _querySelectionCommandsForConfiguration:suggestedActions:completionHandler:]_block_invoke + 148 16 WebKit 0x1a05ae5d4 WTF::CompletionHandler<void (WebKit::DocumentEditingContext&&)>::operator()(WebKit::DocumentEditingContext&&) + 64 17 WebKit 0x1a05bb468 WTF::Detail::CallableWrapper<WTF::CompletionHandler<void (IPC::Connection*, IPC::Decoder*)> IPC::Connection::makeAsyncReplyCompletionHandler<Messages::WebPage::RequestDocumentEditingContext, WTF::CompletionHandler<void (WebKit::DocumentEditingContext&&)>>(WTF::CompletionHandler<void (WebKit::DocumentEditingContext&&)>&&, WTF::ThreadLikeAssertion)::'lambda'(IPC::Connection*, IPC::Decoder*), void, IPC::Connection*, IPC::Decoder*>::call(IPC::Connection*, IPC::Decoder*) + 196 18 WebKit 0x19fcf5db8 WTF::Detail::CallableWrapper<WebKit::AuxiliaryProcessProxy::sendMessage(WTF::UniqueRef<IPC::Encoder>&&, WTF::OptionSet<IPC::SendOption>, std::__1::optional<IPC::ConnectionAsyncReplyHandler>, WebKit::AuxiliaryProcessProxy::ShouldStartProcessThrottlerActivity)::$_1, void, IPC::Connection*, IPC::Decoder*>::call(IPC::Connection*, IPC::Decoder*) + 64 19 WebKit 0x19fce54f0 IPC::Connection::dispatchMessage(WTF::UniqueRef<IPC::Decoder>) + 340 20 WebKit 0x19fcf5aa0 IPC::Connection::dispatchIncomingMessages() + 536 Will the official version have this issue?

WKWebView crashes on iOS 26 with EXC_BAD_ACCESS
Hi, I have an app that uses WKWebView and it's crashing on iOS 26 Simulator in places I've never had problems before. In this case it's crashing when calling WKWebView.callAsyncJavaScript, but in my other project WKWebView is crashing with some sort of EXC_BAD_ACCESS other than callAsyncJavaScript. Am I missing something? Thanks,

WKWebView Entitlements
Hi all, I'm developing an application that uses WKWebView to display a web application which I augment with iOS native utilities such as Speech to Text and IAP. The application also uses Service workers, so we define AppBound Domains in the info.plist file. Everything works for this, but when we deploy on a device the application will crash and say we need these entitlements com.apple.developer.web-browser-engine.networking, com.apple.developer.web-browser-engine.rendering, com.apple.developer.web-browser-engine.webcontent, com.apple.runningboard.assertions.webkit From what I can see, we do need all of them. However Apple suggest submitting a request to be an Altnerative Browser (https://developer.apple.com/support/alternative-browser-engines) This is not appropriate for the application in my view since one requirement of being an alternative browser is that you don't modify the resources on the web site - we of course do since we inject javascript in order to bridge between iOS and the contents of the webview. How are people navigating this issue? I assumed it would be common given the use of Tauri etc. to build similar types of applications, but I don't see much about it. Thank you!

Applications developed using WKWebView is limited to running at 60 fps.
I'm developing a cross-platform application using Tauri, which uses WebView technology as the GUI renderer. On macOS, it should be using WKWebView. Based on my tests, all applications developed with Tauri can only run at 60fps on macOS and cannot take advantage of ProMotion displays to achieve a 120fps refresh rate, whereas the same application can run at 120fps on other platforms. I have submitted this issue to Tauri on GitHub, and it appears that this cannot be resolved through external settings, but only by modifying the WKWebView code to support higher frame rates. Is there any possible solution to this?

Getting started with PHP ..
I am new to PHP. I have developed my own web site with a lot of javascript in simple HTML files. I want to do some extensions with PHP but I can't make a simple web page function. I am sure something simple is wrong. Help! Here is the test web page I made: hello.html <html>  <head>   <title>Hello World</title>  </head>  <body>   <?php echo 'Hello World!'; ?>  </body> </html> Pointing Safari at hello.html gives me a new tab with the correct title, but no "Hello World" in the page itself. Here is the output of php --version: WARNING: PHP is not recommended PHP is included in macOS for compatibility with legacy software. Future versions of macOS will not include PHP. PHP 7.3.24-(to be removed in future macOS) (cli) (built: Jun 17 2021 21:41:13) ( NTS ) Copyright (c) 1997-2018 The PHP Group Zend Engine v3.3.24, Copyright (c) 1998-2018 Zend Technologies

WKWebView fails to render custom app fonts in macOS 26 beta 5
This post is an effort to draw attention to a regression in Tahoe that has a large impact on our app. This bug was filed during seed 3 but remains open: FB18869578: Regression: WebView fails to render fonts registered with CTFontManagerRegisterFontURLs or ATSApplicationFontsPath The gist of it is that WKWebView fails to render text that is styled with a “font-family” that references a font that has been loaded into the app using either the ATSApplicationFontsPath Info.plist key or loaded dynamically with CTFontManagerRegisterFontURLs. The area where the text should be is just blank. There is more detail and a reproducer in the bug referenced above. We really hope this bug can get fixed before GA. If anyone else would like to try and reproduce it, you can download a test case from here: https://e3supportuploads.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com/8739959ce24de40fa462798a532aaa99fbfc9affba4f2a3e71d397f9e30d2604

Push Notifications Not Working in iOS App or Safari Browser Created via PWA Builder
Push Notification Issue in iOS PWA App We’ve been trying to implement push notifications in our iOS app, which is a wrapper around a Vite PWA built using PWA Builder. Here's a detailed overview of the issues we’re facing: Problem Summary We originally had a working Vite PWA and used Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for push notifications. When converting this PWA to an iOS app using PWA Builder: The notification permission prompt did not behave as expected in Safari. Even after requesting permission via a user gesture (e.g., button press), FCM token was not received. On Safari (both Mac and Windows), permission sometimes works, but the token isn’t saved until Safari is closed and reopened. In the iOS PWA app, the FCM token never gets retrieved. We tried the same process on Chrome, and everything works flawlessly there. What We’ve Tried Wrapped the permission request and FCM token logic in a user gesture (e.g., button click), as recommended. Confirmed our manifest includes all necessary fields (see below). Tested across macOS, Windows, Safari (desktop), and the iOS app. Manifest.json { "name": "Periscopio", "short_name": "Periscopio", "start_url": "/", "display": "standalone", "background_color": "#f2f2f2", "lang": "en", "scope": "/", "description": "Facilitates the collection of primary data for market research purposes.", "icons": [ { "src": "/android-chrome-192x192.png", "sizes": "192x192", "type": "image/png", "purpose": "any" }, { "src": "/android-chrome-512x512.png", "sizes": "512x512", "type": "image/png", "purpose": "any" }, { "src": "/maskable_icon_x192.png", "sizes": "192x192", "type": "image/png", "purpose": "maskable" }, { "src": "/maskable_icon_x512.png", "sizes": "512x512", "type": "image/png", "purpose": "maskable" } ], "edge_side_panel": { "preferred_width": 400 }, "display_override": [ "window-controls-overlay", "standalone" ], "theme_color": "#08244c", "orientation": "portrait" } Core Logic (Plain TypeScript) 1. Request Notification Permission + FCM Token async function handleRequestPermission(): Promise<string | null> { try { console.log("Requesting notification permission..."); const permission = await Notification.requestPermission(); console.log("Notification permission result:", permission); if (permission === "denied") { console.error("Notification permission was denied."); return null; } const token = await requestFCMToken(); console.log("FCM Token:", token); if (token) { console.log("Notification setup successful."); return token; } else { console.error("Failed to retrieve FCM token."); return null; } } catch (error) { console.error("Error requesting FCM token:", error); return null; } } 2. FCM Token Logic async function requestFCMToken(): Promise<string | undefined> { try { let permission = Notification.permission; if (permission === "default") { console.log("Requesting notification permission..."); permission = await Notification.requestPermission(); } if (permission === "granted") { console.log("Notification permission granted."); const isSupportedBrowser = await isSupported(); if (!isSupportedBrowser) { console.error("This browser does not support FCM."); return; } const registration = await navigator.serviceWorker.register("/firebase-messaging-sw.js"); console.log("Service Worker registered:", registration); const token = await getToken(cloudMessaging, { vapidKey: "YOUR_PUBLIC_VAPID_KEY_HERE", serviceWorkerRegistration: registration, }); if (token) { console.log("FCM Token:", token); localStorage.setItem("fcmToken", token); return token; } else { console.warn("No registration token available. Request permission to generate one."); return; } } else if (permission === "denied") { console.warn("Permission to notify was denied."); return; } else { console.warn("Notification permission not granted."); return; } } catch (error) { console.error("Error getting FCM token:", error); return; } } Request for Help We’d really appreciate support from anyone who’s successfully implemented FCM push notifications in a Vite PWA wrapped as an iOS app using PWA Builder. Is there something we’re missing about how iOS Safari handles push permissions in PWA mode? Could there be an issue with the service worker or the manifest setup that causes the token not to register? Any Safari-specific quirks to be aware of? Thanks in advance!

Incorrect page zoom after pinch-to-zoom and orientation change on Bing search page
Steps to Reproduce: Open the Bing search page in Safari (example URL: https://www.bing.com/search?q=webkit&form=APIPH1&PC=APPL). Pinch-zoom in or out, then return the page to exactly 100% zoom. Rotate the device from portrait to landscape orientation. Observe that the page is incorrectly scaled to a value other than 100%. Rotate the device back to portrait orientation. The page remains at the incorrect zoom level. Expected Result: After returning the page to 100% zoom, changing orientation should keep the zoom level at exactly 100% in both portrait and landscape modes. Actual Result: After returning to 100% zoom, rotating to landscape changes the zoom to a non-100% value, and rotating back to portrait retains the incorrect zoom level.

Issue with Copy Functionality in WKWebView Using Mac Catalyst
Hello, I am developing a Mac application via Mac Catalyst and encountering an issue with WKWebView. Specifically, I'm loading a webpage (e.g., https://translate.google.com) in WKWebView, but when I press the copy button on the page, the content doesn't actually copy to the clipboard. I've attempted modifying the UserAgent without any success. Here is the relevant part of my code: override func viewDidLoad() { super.viewDidLoad() let config = WKWebViewConfiguration() config.preferences = WKPreferences() config.defaultWebpagePreferences.preferredContentMode = .desktop let webView = WKWebView(frame: .zero, configuration: config) webView.translatesAutoresizingMaskIntoConstraints = false view.addSubview(webView) webView.scrollView.showsVerticalScrollIndicator = false webView.backgroundColor = UIColor.white webView.scrollView.backgroundColor = UIColor.white webView.leadingAnchor.constraint(equalTo: view.leadingAnchor).isActive = true webView.topAnchor.constraint(equalTo: view.topAnchor).isActive = true webView.trailingAnchor.constraint(equalTo: view.trailingAnchor).isActive = true webView.bottomAnchor.constraint(equalTo: view.bottomAnchor).isActive = true if let url = URL(string: "https://translate.google.com") { let req = URLRequest(url: url) webView.load(req) } }

This is generated in the onvalidatemerchant event handler, and passed into session.completeMerchantValidation. Using a sandbox account with linked cards, the next thing that happens is a "payment not completed" message in the ApplePay popup on the page, and the oncancel event is hit Inspecting the event, I don't see anything that hints at the issue. There is a sessionError object, but its code is "unknown" and the info object is empty.

On iOS 18.0, when setting a cookie with SameSite=None; Secure, the attribute does not take effect and is automatically converted to SameSite=Lax.
On iPhone 16 running iOS 18.0(Xcode 16.2), cookies configured with SameSite=None; Secure fail to apply correctly—iOS forcibly converts the attribute to SameSite=Lax. As a result, cross-site requests from H5 pages within our app cannot carry the required cookies, causing failures. Can anyone help me on this? Thanks in advance.

(iOS 26 / WebKit): Fixed-position header misaligned after keyboard interaction and interactive swipe-back in WKWebView
Steps to Reproduce 1. Create a native UIViewController with a WKWebView, loading test-1.html (contains position:fixed header that displays correctly). 2. Push another UIViewController also with a WKWebView, this time loading test-2.html. 3. In test-2.html, tap into the to summon the on-screen keyboard. 4. Without calling blur(), perform an interactive swipe-back gesture to go back to the first view controller. 5. Observe that the fixed header in test-1.html is now offset downward by approximately the height of the keyboard and does not return to its original position. demo-link : https://bugs.webkit.org/attachment.cgi?id=476324

Is my POST method correct
//Is my post method correct because google and claude are telling me I must use content type for the json and use .setvalue. I thought that my process was correct because I encode the data to turn into json and then make the request func createTask(_ task: Task) async throws -> Task { if let url = URL(string: "(baseURL)/todos"){ var request = URLRequest(url: url) request.httpMethod = "POST" let encoder = JSONEncoder() do{ let data = try encoder.encode(task) request.httpBody = data let (data, response) = try await URLSession.shared.data(for: request) return task //we want to make encoder and then turn the data into json and put it in body } catch{ throw JSONErrors.encodingFailed } } else{ throw URLError(.badURL) } }

Referer Header is not included for requests in WKWebView
"The Referer header allows a server to identify referring pages that people are visiting from or where requested resources are being used. " This header is never forwarded to server when the user is browsing the website in a WebView. This is properly maintained by other browsers but not in-app. How do I include it?

新しいWebViewにおいてが動作しない
現在新しいWebViewを使ってwebページを読み込むiPadプログラムを作成中ですが、読み込んだ後に部分のボタンをタップしても何も起こりません。safariで通常通りページを開いてボタンをタップするときちんと写真ライブラリ・カメラで撮るなどのポップアップが表示されます。下記がコードです。Webページは単純化のためにのみを配置しています。 struct SwiftUIWebView: View { @State private var webPage = WebPage() private let url = URL(string: "https://www.****.com/")! var body: some View { WebView(webPage) .onAppear { // URLを読み込む webPage.load(URLRequest(url: url)) } } } 何か追加のコードが必要なのでしょうか?

[iOS 26 Beta] event.target.value is always empty — only from specific script domains
Hey everyone, After installing iOS 26 beta, I started noticing unexpected behavior in our input event handlers. Specifically, when users type into an field, event.target.value is always an empty string — but only when the JS file is loaded from a specific domain (e.g., t1.daumcdn.net). The exact same code works perfectly when hosted on other domains like t2.daumcdn.net or search1.daumcdn.net. 👉 I created a demo here: 🔗 https://codepen.io/bzasklcu-the-sans/pen/rNXogxL The scripts loaded from each domain are 100% identical (apart from the top-level selector). Before iOS 26 beta, this worked fine. I suspect this is related to ITP or some new cross-origin behavior in Safari, but I’d love to know if anyone else is running into this — or if someone knows a workaround. Thanks!

Issue with opening browser on Apple Watch SE 2 – black screen
Hello, I am experiencing an issue when trying to open the browser on my Apple Watch SE 2 running the latest version, watchOS 11.6. When I attempt to visit any website, the browser opens and displays the URL at the top as if it is loading, but the screen remains black and no content is displayed. The internet connection is available, and all other apps on the watch work normally. This issue occurs only with the browser. I would appreciate any guidance or solution to resolve this problem. Thank you for your assistance.

iOS 26 beta 5 WKWebView crashes
WKWebView has set the option to disable selection ("document. documentElement. style. webkitUserSelect='none ';") and long press ("document. documentElement. style. webkitTouchCallout='none';"). If there is text on one of the images in WebView, simply tap the image twice and then long press the text. The program will crash with the following error message: 0 CoreFoundation 0x185e058c8 __exceptionPreprocess + 164 1 libobjc.A.dylib 0x182d797c4 objc_exception_throw + 88 2 CoreFoundation 0x185e908d4 -[NSException initWithCoder:] + 0 3 QuartzCore 0x18678a874 CA::Layer::set_position(CA::Vec2&lt;double&gt; const&amp;, bool) + 160 4 QuartzCore 0x1869a7270 -[CALayer setPosition:] + 52 5 UIKitCore 0x18c4ac564 -[UIView _backing_setPosition:] + 176 6 UIKitCore 0x18cefdf0c -[UIView setCenter:] + 220 7 UIKitCore 0x18cd9f794 -[_UIEditMenuContentPresentation _displayPreparedMenu:titleView:reason:didDismissMenu:configuration:] + 936 8 UIKitCore 0x18cd9f3c0 __54-[_UIEditMenuContentPresentation _displayMenu:reason:]_block_invoke + 104 9 UIKitCore 0x18ced1060 -[UIEditMenuInteraction _editMenuPresentation:preparedMenuForDisplay:completion:] + 384 10 UIKitCore 0x18cd9f2e4 -[_UIEditMenuContentPresentation _displayMenu:reason:] + 304 11 UIKitCore 0x18cd9f0d8 -[_UIEditMenuContentPresentation displayMenu:configuration:] + 64 12 UIKitCore 0x18ced0344 __58-[UIEditMenuInteraction presentEditMenuWithConfiguration:]_block_invoke + 260 13 UIKitCore 0x18ced1f8c __80-[UIEditMenuInteraction _prepareMenuAtLocation:configuration:completionHandler:]_block_invoke + 80 14 UIKitCore 0x18cc8403c __109-[UITextContextMenuInteraction _editMenuInteraction:menuForConfiguration:suggestedActions:completionHandler:]_block_invoke + 180 15 UIKitCore 0x18cc84584 __107-[UITextContextMenuInteraction _querySelectionCommandsForConfiguration:suggestedActions:completionHandler:]_block_invoke + 148 16 WebKit 0x1a05ae5d4 WTF::CompletionHandler&lt;void (WebKit::DocumentEditingContext&amp;&amp;)&gt;::operator()(WebKit::DocumentEditingContext&amp;&amp;) + 64 17 WebKit 0x1a05bb468 WTF::Detail::CallableWrapper&lt;WTF::CompletionHandler&lt;void (IPC::Connection*, IPC::Decoder*)&gt; IPC::Connection::makeAsyncReplyCompletionHandler&lt;Messages::WebPage::RequestDocumentEditingContext, WTF::CompletionHandler&lt;void (WebKit::DocumentEditingContext&amp;&amp;)&gt;&gt;(WTF::CompletionHandler&lt;void (WebKit::DocumentEditingContext&amp;&amp;)&gt;&amp;&amp;, WTF::ThreadLikeAssertion)::'lambda'(IPC::Connection*, IPC::Decoder*), void, IPC::Connection*, IPC::Decoder*&gt;::call(IPC::Connection*, IPC::Decoder*) + 196 18 WebKit 0x19fcf5db8 WTF::Detail::CallableWrapper&lt;WebKit::AuxiliaryProcessProxy::sendMessage(WTF::UniqueRef&lt;IPC::Encoder&gt;&amp;&amp;, WTF::OptionSet&lt;IPC::SendOption&gt;, std::__1::optional&lt;IPC::ConnectionAsyncReplyHandler&gt;, WebKit::AuxiliaryProcessProxy::ShouldStartProcessThrottlerActivity)::$_1, void, IPC::Connection*, IPC::Decoder*&gt;::call(IPC::Connection*, IPC::Decoder*) + 64 19 WebKit 0x19fce54f0 IPC::Connection::dispatchMessage(WTF::UniqueRef&lt;IPC::Decoder&gt;) + 340 20 WebKit 0x19fcf5aa0 IPC::Connection::dispatchIncomingMessages() + 536 Will the official version have this issue?

Hello, I am developing a Mac application via Mac Catalyst and encountering an issue with WKWebView. Specifically, I'm loading a webpage (e.g., https://translate.google.com) in WKWebView, but when I press the copy button on the page, the content doesn't actually copy to the clipboard. I've attempted modifying the UserAgent without any success. Here is the relevant part of my code: override func viewDidLoad() { super.viewDidLoad() let config = WKWebViewConfiguration() config.preferences = WKPreferences() config.defaultWebpagePreferences.preferredContentMode = .desktop let webView = WKWebView(frame: .zero, configuration: config) webView.translatesAutoresizingMaskIntoConstraints = false view.addSubview(webView) webView.scrollView.showsVerticalScrollIndicator = false webView.backgroundColor = UIColor.white webView.scrollView.backgroundColor = UIColor.white webView.leadingAnchor.constraint(equalTo: view.leadingAnchor).isActive = true webView.topAnchor.constraint(equalTo: view.topAnchor).isActive = true webView.trailingAnchor.constraint(equalTo: view.trailingAnchor).isActive = true webView.bottomAnchor.constraint(equalTo: view.bottomAnchor).isActive = true if let url = URL(string: "https://translate.google.com") { let req = URLRequest(url: url) webView.load(req) } }

Capturing or Logging webRequest Data
Is there any supported mechanism in Safari Web Extensions (MV3) for capturing or logging network request data (like fetch, XHR, or webRequest) triggered by the web page?

Is my POST method correct
//Is my post method correct because google and claude are telling me I must use content type for the json and use .setvalue. I thought that my process was correct because I encode the data to turn into json and then make the request func createTask(_ task: Task) async throws -> Task { if let url = URL(string: "(baseURL)/todos"){ var request = URLRequest(url: url) request.httpMethod = "POST" let encoder = JSONEncoder() do{ let data = try encoder.encode(task) request.httpBody = data let (data, response) = try await URLSession.shared.data(for: request) return task //we want to make encoder and then turn the data into json and put it in body } catch{ throw JSONErrors.encodingFailed } } else{ throw URLError(.badURL) } }

現在新しいWebViewを使ってwebページを読み込むiPadプログラムを作成中ですが、読み込んだ後に部分のボタンをタップしても何も起こりません。safariで通常通りページを開いてボタンをタップするときちんと写真ライブラリ・カメラで撮るなどのポップアップが表示されます。下記がコードです。Webページは単純化のためにのみを配置しています。 struct SwiftUIWebView: View { @State private var webPage = WebPage() private let url = URL(string: "https://www.****.com/")! var body: some View { WebView(webPage) .onAppear { // URLを読み込む webPage.load(URLRequest(url: url)) } } } 何か追加のコードが必要なのでしょうか?
