iOS26 Safari rendering bug even on latest beta 3
I am testing stuff on a website, and it worked well on any mobile browser till iOS18. Now that I am testing iOS26, even with the latest BETA (3) everything works smoothly on any other mobile browser but Safari. Previously I had the bug, which now has been patched, for status-bar, which was flickering too, but popover and page issue seems still there. I have persistent popover and ajax navigation, and both are rendering with bugs and fouc while view/page changes. Example: If I have an element which must stay on its place and its width is 100vw: while page changes it blinks, shrinks, flicker and jumps on rendering, while it simply must stay as is.. Animations and page transitions work smoothly on Chrome mobile (latest iOS 26 beta 3) , while breaking on Safari. I did open a feedback FB18328720, but seems no one caring. Any idea guys? ** Video of the bug (which is huge!) : ** https://youtube.com/shorts/rY3oxUwDd7w?feature=share Cheers

High count of webview content process termination
Our iOS app uses React Native Webview (based on top of WKWebView) to display content. This webview stays in memory throughtout the app's lifecycle. We are observing a high number of webview content process terminations - around 15% of our sessions. (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/webkit/wknavigationdelegate/webviewwebcontentprocessdidterminate(_:)) What could be the reasons for it? Is there a way to know for sure? Is the 15% of sessions number something that other apps also experience, or should this be lower? Thanks!

WKWebView: Failed to acquire RBS assertion 'WebKit Media Playback'
Hi there! I'm new to App Development and I'm running into the following error when playing audio on a website loaded through a WKWebView: 0x112000cc0 - ProcessAssertion::acquireSync Failed to acquire RBS assertion 'WebKit Media Playback' for process with PID=70.197, error: Error Domain=RBSServiceErrorDomain Code=1 "(originator doesn't have entitlement com.apple.runningboard.assertions.webkit AND originator doesn't have entitlement com.apple.multitasking.systemappassertions)" UserInfo={NSLocalizedFailureReason=(originator doesn't have entitlement com.apple.runningboard.assertions.webkit AND originator doesn't have entitlement com.apple.multitasking.systemappassertions)} Looking through this forum, it seems more people have this issue, yet no one has found a solution (or posted it...). The solutions that I did find (Background Modes capability, webView.configuration.allowsInlineMediaPlayback = true), did nothing. To make sure the issue had nothing to do with my own code, I created an empty project to reproduce the issue. I'm not sure on the best way to share it, but it's a small file (forgive me, I have no clue what it does, actually chatGPT made it for me. My real application is a WebApp wrapped with Capacitor, so it handles all the Swift stuff) import SwiftUI import WebKit struct WebView: UIViewRepresentable { let urlString: String func makeUIView(context: Context) -> WKWebView { let webView = WKWebView() webView.configuration.allowsInlineMediaPlayback = true webView.configuration.allowsAirPlayForMediaPlayback = true webView.navigationDelegate = context.coordinator return webView } func updateUIView(_ uiView: WKWebView, context: Context) { if let url = URL(string: urlString) { let request = URLRequest(url: url) uiView.load(request) } } func makeCoordinator() -> Coordinator { Coordinator(self) } class Coordinator: NSObject, WKNavigationDelegate { var parent: WebView init(_ parent: WebView) { self.parent = parent } func webView(_ webView: WKWebView, didFailProvisionalNavigation navigation: WKNavigation!, withError error: Error) { print("Web page loading failed: \(error.localizedDescription)") } } } struct WebViewDemo: View { var body: some View { NavigationView { WebView(urlString: "https://www.w3schools.com/html/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml5_audio_all") .navigationBarTitle("Web View") } } } struct WebView_Previews: PreviewProvider { static var previews: some View { WebViewDemo() } } Nothing special, right? When I build the app and navigate to a website that has an tag (https://www.w3schools.com/html/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml5_audio_all). I still see the error when I play the audio. It plays nonetheless, but the error is there. I'm not at all interested in actually playing audio in the background/when the app is closed/suspended. I just want the error to go away! I've tried different iOS versions (14,15,16,17), but the problem persists. Anyone know what's happening?

Suspected safari memory leak for new os ver 26
Hi, this is my first post in the community, so please correct me if i am posting this somewhat in a wrong manner. Im using my Apple M1 Pro(14inch, 2021) and installed the os 26 yesterday. Today, I was using Safari, and all of sudden it gets frozen, then the following window popped up. Is this something expected? i.e. my usage is somewhat unusual or is there any report around potential memory leak in Safari? appreciate any suggestions, as Safari is my main browser and currently on hold due to this issue. Thanks

Cancelling the "pick up annotation" animation
While implementing Apple Maps into our web application, I have a scenario where I want to be able to drag and move some of my custom annotations around. While that is working, when "picking up" the annotation before dragging it, there is an animation which I believe is to represent the human interaction of picking up a pin from a map, I would like to cancel that animation and thought that would be possible by calling preventDefault() in the emitted long-press event, which the documentation states that annotations should emit if they are draggable. The thing is that I don't get this event to emit when long pressing an annotation. So I believe that I have found a bug. It's in this paragraph in the documentation https://developer.apple.com/documentation/mapkitjs/handling-map-events#Respond-to-map-interaction-events A long press occurs on the map outside an annotation. A long press may be the beginning of a panning or pinching gesture on the map. You can prevent the gesture from starting by calling the preventDefault() method of the event. Annotations need to be draggable to dispatch long-press events. In anybody else experiencing this or do you see any clear fix for this? Maybe there is another way to cancel that "picking up the annotation for dragging" animation. I have seemed to try anything else.

Safari falsely flags our secure site (outdoorgala.com) as deceptive — how to request a review
Hi Apple Devs & WebKit Team, We operate https://outdoorgala.com — a verified, HTTPS-secure Canadian ecommerce site focused on elite outdoor safety gear. We're Indigenous-owned, based in Alberta, and take customer trust and compliance seriously. However, Safari (iOS + macOS) is falsely flagging our site as “deceptive,” preventing customers from accessing us — even though: We use GoDaddy Website Builder with no redirections or malware All product links are clean, HTTPS-secure, and tracked ethically We recently implemented a fully compliant cookie banner (Accept/Decline logic) A public security.txt and OpenPGP key has been published: https://outdoorgala.com/security No phishing, malware, or cloaking behavior exists on the site We’ve already submitted a review via: ➡️ https://websitereview.apple.com And filed a bug report via Feedback Assistant (FB17608544) What else can be done to speed up review or get flagged domains unblocked in Safari? This is hurting our business and blocking consumer access — despite following all Apple guidelines. Would appreciate any insights or escalation tips. Thank you! – Derek Eiteneier Founder, Outdoor Gala

How to Handle Custom URL Scheme Fallback Gracefully in iOS Safari
We use a direct link mechanism in our app that attempts to open the app if it's already installed; otherwise, it redirects the user to the App Store. However, when the app is not installed, Safari displays an alert saying: "Safari cannot open the page because the address is invalid." This popup appears to be caused by attempting to open a custom URL scheme that doesn't resolve. what is the recommendation from apple to have a smooth transition to our mobile App Here’s a sample link we’re using: https://new.oneclear.com/Asset/fe5f7fb6-205a-40f8-9efe-71678361aa2c?t=NTA0NQ==

iOS 26/MacOS 26 - PWA App Icons: Dark,Clear,Tinted Appearance
Hi everyone, I'm exploring the new app icon appearance options (Clear, Dark, Tinted) for Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) on iOS26, iPadOS26, and macOS26. Currently, PWA icons don't seem to render well with these new appearances, particularly in Clear and Tinted modes, resulting in very very poor visual quality. You can hardly see anything. Has support for these icon appearances been fully implemented for PWAs? If so, could someone point me to the relevant Apple Developer documentation or provide guidance on how to configure PWA icons to support Clear, Dark, and Tinted appearances? I've searched the Apple Developer Forums, Stack Overflow, and Reddit but haven't found clear information on this topic.A possible solution is a png file with transparent areas, but if the pattern is dark, nothing will be visible in dark mode. Any insights or resources would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! (plz don't give up on PWA😭) Reference: https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/761615 https://stackoverflow.com/questions/78780916/is-there-a-way-to-provide-light-dark-and-tinted-variants-of-apple-touch-icon https://developer.apple.com/library/archive/documentation/AppleApplications/Reference/SafariWebContent/ConfiguringWebApplications/ConfiguringWebApplications.html

iOS 26 crash – CALayer position contains NaN when selecting text / showing magnifier / selecting Image's Text in WKWebView
Environment • Device: any iPhone running iOS 26 Developer Beta 5 (23A5308g) • Xcode: 16.3 Short description The app crashes the moment the user tries to long-press to select text inside a WKWebView, double-tap an image with Text (magnifier appears) The exception is CALayer position contains NaN. frame = (nan,0;0,48) chorPoint=(inf, 0) and it is thrown in the UI process.

Anyone know what's happening?

safaridriver --enable not applying to standard user
An Administrator account is executing safaridriver --enable but it doesn't apply to other standard user accounts and standard accounts can't enable it directly. Is this expected behavior? How can standard users make use of safaridriver?

Environment • Device: any iPhone running iOS 26 Developer Beta 5 (23A5308g) • Xcode: 16.3 Short description The app crashes the moment the user tries to long-press to select text inside a WKWebView, double-tap an image with Text (magnifier appears) The exception is CALayer position contains NaN. frame = (nan,0;0,48) chorPoint=(inf, 0) and it is thrown in the UI process. Build & run any project that hosts a WKWebView. Inject the following CSS via script (this is what we do to suppress the native callout menu): WKWebView *webView = [[WKWebView alloc] initWithFrame:self.view.bounds configuration:[WKWebViewConfiguration new]]; NSString *js = @"document.documentElement.style.webkitUserSelect='none';" "document.documentElement.style.webkitTouchCallout='none';"; [webView evaluateJavaScript:js completionHandler:nil]; [self.view addSubview:webView];
