Final Cut Pro Workflow Extension Drag and Drop to Timeline Not Working Despite Proper FCPXML Clip Structure
Our Final Cut Pro workflow extension built with ProExtensionHost framework uses an advanced NSPasteboardItemDataProvider system with multi-version FCPXML support (1.9, 1.10, 1.13) and proper relative path UIDs for Motion templates. We've implemented clip wrapper approach with placeholder assets and elements containing effects to enable direct timeline drag functionality. However, drag and drop from our Final Cut Pro workflow extension directly to timeline is still not working despite proper element structure in our FCPXML. Our implementation creates valid clip elements with effects applied, but Final Cut Pro timeline doesn't accept them during drag operations from our ProExtensionHost-based workflow extension. Steps to Reproduce: Create Final Cut Pro workflow extension using ProExtensionHost framework with NSPasteboardItemDataProvider implementation Generate FCPXML with proper element structure: Expected Result: Clip should be accepted by timeline and effect applied from workflow extension Actual Result: Timeline rejects drag operation from ProExtensionHost-based workflow extension Question: Are there additional requirements or ProExtensionHost API calls needed beyond standard NSPasteboardItemDataProvider for Final Cut Pro workflow extension timeline drag functionality?

Option to Set Default Interpolation for Keyframes to “Linear” in Final Cut Pro
In Final Cut Pro, keyframes for transform parameters (such as Position, Scale, and Rotation) are automatically set to “Smooth” interpolation. This often results in undesired easing between keyframes, especially when linear motion is required. Currently, we have to manually adjust each keyframe to "Linear" using the Video Animation Editor, which can be time-consuming when working with many keyframes. Would it be possible to add an option to set the default keyframe interpolation to "Linear"—either globally in Preferences or per parameter in the Inspector? This would greatly streamline the animation workflow for many editors. Thank you for considering this request!

How to capture audio from the stream that's playing on the speakers?
Good day, ladies and gents. I have an application that reads audio from the microphone. I'd like it to also be able to read from the Mac's audio output stream. (A bonus would be if it could detect when the Mac is playing music.) PHFetchOptions: Full List of Supported Predicate Keys
Hi, Could anybody share the full list of supported Predicate keys for the PHFetchOptions? I'm aware of the list that is posted in the documentation: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/photos/phfetchoptions However I have reason to believe that this is not an exhaustive list and there also seem to be mistakes in this doc. i.e. isFavorite does not work but favorite does. Through some experimentation I also found that this works: NSPredicate(format: "adjustmentFormatIdentifier == 'com.pixelmatorteam.touch.x.photo.PhotosAdjustmentData.EmbeddedSlimSidecarFileInfo.compressed'") even though adjustmentFormatIdentifier is not listed as a supported key. Are there other secret keys that you are aware of? Specifically I want to filter a fetch result for edited items. Something like this: NSPredicate(format: "hasAdjustments == true") (I tried this, doesn't work) The native Photos app has such a filter which leads me to believe that there probably is a key for this: If one of the Framework Developers reads this: Could you please update the documentation page with this information? Finally if there really aren't any more secret keys, is there a way to achieve this with adjustmentFormatIdentifier? I have tried a bunch of stuff already like adjustmentFormatIdentifier != nil but for some reason that gives me the exact opposite of what I want: all the photos without edits. 🫠 Any tips on the correct syntax here would be much appreciated.

Telephoto Lens Keeps Switching to Other Lenses on iPhone 16 Pro Max During PPG (Finger on Camera)
Hi, I’m building a PPG-based heart rate feature where the user places their finger over the rear telephoto camera. iOS Audio Routing - Bluetooth Output + Built-in Microphone Input
Hello! I'm experiencing an issue with iOS's audio routing system when trying to use Bluetooth headphones for audio output while also recording environmental audio from the built-in microphone. Customized IOKit extension not work
Hi guys, How to achieve the following feature on macOS when a USB device (Camera/Mic/Speaker) is connected: When a third-party video conferencing app is not in a meeting, ensure the app defaults to using the USB device (Camera/Mic/Speaker). When a third-party conferencing app is in a meeting, ensure the app automatically switches to the USB device (Camera/Mic/Speaker). I want to make use of IOKit extension to hidden or ignore build-in camera to realize the requirement. however the extension can't be loaded for Invalid permissions in MacOS 15.4.1, buildVersion:24E263. I also tried to run in in MacOS 14.4.1, which can be loaded but can't auto load when restart laptop as KDK version not match. Could you please give me some suggestion? Is it possible hidden build-in camera in MacOS M-series chip? Is there any other method to realize the feature. Thanks a lot.

iOS AUv3 extension: no Icon shown in host
Hi, I'm working on an AUv3 project. The app itself displays my icon. However the Auv3 extension does not display any icon in any host app (AUM, Drambo, etc.0). I thought that the extension would inherit the host app icon but that it does not appear to be the case. I tried to add the icon as a 1024x1024 file to the extension target and the update my extension plist file withe a CFBundleIconFile key but no luck either. It must surely be really easy. What am I missing? Thanks in advance for your help!

Why a driverkit extension needs a CMIO extension
I developed a driverkit extension based on overriding-the-default-usb-video-class-extension, but the link didn’t give the details of realization. I asked DTS who gave two tips: 1, Do you also have a CMIO extension to load in place of the default overriding-the-default-usb-video-class-extension 2, Your DriverKit extension’s info.plist is also missing the CameraAssistantBundleID. I want to know why a driverkit extension needs a CMIO extension, what’s the data and control flow?

How to reduce CMSampleBuffer volume
Hello, Basically, I am reading and writing an asset. To simplify, I am just reading the asset and rewriting it into an output video without any modifications. However, I want to add a fade-out effect to the last three seconds of the output video. I don’t know how to do this. So far, before adding the CMSampleBuffer to the output video, I tried reducing its volume using an extension on CMSampleBuffer. In the extension, I passed 0.4 for testing, aiming to reduce the video's overall volume by 60%. My question is: How can I directly adjust the volume of a CMSampleBuffer? Capture session interrupted randomly
We are facing a strange issue where a small portion of our large userbase can not start the capture session in our app, as it gets interrupted with the following reason: AVCaptureSessionInterruptionReasonVideoDeviceNotAvailableWithMultipleForegroundApps Our users are all from iPhones, no one is using an iPad. Just to be sure we have set session.isMultitaskingCameraAccessEnabled = true but it does not seem to make any difference. Another weird interruption we are seeing

Unable to match music with shazamkit for Android
Hello, i can successfully match music using shazamkit on Apple using SwiftUI, a simple app that let user to load an audio file and exctracts the relative match, while i am unable to match music using shamzamkit on Android. After iPadOS 26 beta and iOS 26 beta, AVCaptureMetadataOutput no longer detects Face on some devices.
I'm creating an app that uses AVCaptureSession to pass camera input to AVCaptureMetadataOutput type set [metaout setMetadataObjectTypes:@[AVMetadataObjectTypeFace]] and scan Face. After updating to OS 26 Beta2 and iOS 26 Beta2, an issue has occurred where the delegate method of AVCaptureMetadataOutputObjectsDelegate is not called on some devices. The following devices are experiencing this issue. iPad (9th Gen) iPad air (4th Gen) iPhone 15 This issue has not occur on any other devices I have. I tried running the AVFoundation sample code on the Apple Developer site on the above device. I'm trying to access media from a users song library and receive: <ICUserIdentityStoreACAccountBackend: 0x148f8af30> Failed to initialize active account, error=Error Domain=ICError Code=-7013 "Client is not entitled to access account store" UserInfo={NSDebugDescription=Client is not entitled to access account store} I'm told I need to add a Media Library Access Capability. Nothing like this shows up in Xcode under Signing & Capabilities > +Capabilities. Also I can't find anything like this in my account in dev.apple.com. How do I enable myself and a test user using another iPhone device to access my music and their music respectively? Thanks!

Save MPEG-TS (h264 or HEVC) video stream using AVAssetWriter.
I'm capturing video stream from GoPro camera (I demux UDP MPEG-TS packets) and create CMSampleBuffers from them, this works fine when I display them using CMSampleBufferLayer. However when I dump them to disk using AVAssetWriter and then playback it with AVPlayer, AVPlayer has problems with scrubbing, it also cannot render previous frames, it needs to go back to key frames. Also thumbnails generated with AVAssetImageGenerator are mostly distorted and green, even though I set the requestedTimeToleranceAfter longer than the key frames frequency. When I re-encode saved video once again with AVAssetExportSession and play it back then I can scrub the video just fine. Is it because re-transcoding adds additional metadata to enable generating frames when rewinding the video and scrubbing? If so is there a way to achieve it with AVAssetWriter without much time penalty? I need the dump/save operation to be very fast. I also considered the following: Instead of de-muxing video and creating CMSampleBuffers, maybe I could directly dump the stream to disk and somehow add moov atoms with timing information. Would this approach work? If so where I can find information how to do it? Thank you!

AVCaptureSession startRunning is slow
AVCaptureSession's startRunning method is thread blocking and seems to be slow. What is this method doing behind the scenes? For context: I'm working on Simulator Camera support and I have a 'fake' AVCaptureDevice that might be causing this. My hypothesis is that AVCaptureSession tries to connect to the device and waits for a notification to be posted back. I'd love to find a way to let my fake device message AVCaptureSession that it's connected.

Audio of AirPods won’t work
Since the last update to IOS 26.0 (23A5276f) the AirPods connect to my IPhone and the Audio is still running through the phone. They are shown in the Bluetooth Icon that they’re paired.

Our Final Cut Pro workflow extension built with ProExtensionHost framework uses an advanced NSPasteboardItemDataProvider system with multi-version FCPXML support (1.9, 1.10, 1.13) and proper relative path UIDs for Motion templates. We've implemented clip wrapper approach with placeholder assets and elements containing effects to enable direct timeline drag functionality. However, drag and drop from our Final Cut Pro workflow extension directly to timeline is still not working despite proper element structure in our FCPXML. Our implementation creates valid clip elements with effects applied, but Final Cut Pro timeline doesn't accept them during drag operations from our ProExtensionHost-based workflow extension. Steps to Reproduce: Create Final Cut Pro workflow extension using ProExtensionHost framework with NSPasteboardItemDataProvider implementation Generate FCPXML with proper element structure: Expected Result: Clip should be accepted by timeline and effect applied from workflow extension Actual Result: Timeline rejects drag operation from ProExtensionHost-based workflow extension Question: Are there additional requirements or ProExtensionHost API calls needed beyond standard NSPasteboardItemDataProvider for Final Cut Pro workflow extension timeline drag functionality?

Option to Set Default Interpolation for Keyframes to “Linear” in Final Cut Pro
In Final Cut Pro, keyframes for transform parameters (such as Position, Scale, and Rotation) are automatically set to “Smooth” interpolation. This often results in undesired easing between keyframes, especially when linear motion is required. Currently, we have to manually adjust each keyframe to "Linear" using the Video Animation Editor, which can be time-consuming when working with many keyframes. Would it be possible to add an option to set the default keyframe interpolation to "Linear"—either globally in Preferences or per parameter in the Inspector? This would greatly streamline the animation workflow for many editors. Thank you for considering this request!

How to capture audio from the stream that's playing on the speakers?

(A bonus would be if it could detect when the Mac is playing music.) PHFetchOptions: Full List of Supported Predicate Keys
Hi, Could anybody share the full list of supported Predicate keys for the PHFetchOptions? I'm aware of the list that is posted in the documentation: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/photos/phfetchoptions However I have reason to believe that this is not an exhaustive list and there also seem to be mistakes in this doc. i.e. isFavorite does not work but favorite does. Through some experimentation I also found that this works: NSPredicate(format: "adjustmentFormatIdentifier == 'com.pixelmatorteam.touch.x.photo.PhotosAdjustmentData.EmbeddedSlimSidecarFileInfo.compressed'") even though adjustmentFormatIdentifier is not listed as a supported key. Are there other secret keys that you are aware of? Specifically I want to filter a fetch result for edited items. Something like this: NSPredicate(format: "hasAdjustments == true") (I tried this, doesn't work) The native Photos app has such a filter which leads me to believe that there probably is a key for this: If one of the Framework Developers reads this: Could you please update the documentation page with this information? Finally if there really aren't any more secret keys, is there a way to achieve this with adjustmentFormatIdentifier? I have tried a bunch of stuff already like adjustmentFormatIdentifier != nil but for some reason that gives me the exact opposite of what I want: all the photos without edits. 🫠 Any tips on the correct syntax here would be much appreciated.

Telephoto Lens Keeps Switching to Other Lenses on iPhone 16 Pro Max During PPG (Finger on Camera)

Hello! I'm experiencing an issue with iOS's audio routing system when trying to use Bluetooth headphones for audio output while also recording environmental audio from the built-in microphone. Customized IOKit extension not work
Hi guys, How to achieve the following feature on macOS when a USB device (Camera/Mic/Speaker) is connected: When a third-party video conferencing app is not in a meeting, ensure the app defaults to using the USB device (Camera/Mic/Speaker). When a third-party conferencing app is in a meeting, ensure the app automatically switches to the USB device (Camera/Mic/Speaker). I want to make use of IOKit extension to hidden or ignore build-in camera to realize the requirement. however the extension can't be loaded for Invalid permissions in MacOS 15.4.1, buildVersion:24E263. I also tried to run in in MacOS 14.4.1, which can be loaded but can't auto load when restart laptop as KDK version not match. Could you please give me some suggestion? Is it possible hidden build-in camera in MacOS M-series chip? Is there any other method to realize the feature. Thanks a lot.

iOS AUv3 extension: no Icon shown in host
Hi, I'm working on an AUv3 project. The app itself displays my icon. However the Auv3 extension does not display any icon in any host app (AUM, Drambo, etc.0). I thought that the extension would inherit the host app icon but that it does not appear to be the case. I tried to add the icon as a 1024x1024 file to the extension target and the update my extension plist file withe a CFBundleIconFile key but no luck either. It must surely be really easy. Why a driverkit extension needs a CMIO extension
I developed a driverkit extension based on overriding-the-default-usb-video-class-extension, but the link didn’t give the details of realization. I asked DTS who gave two tips: 1, Do you also have a CMIO extension to load in place of the default overriding-the-default-usb-video-class-extension 2, Your DriverKit extension’s info.plist is also missing the CameraAssistantBundleID. I want to know why a driverkit extension needs a CMIO extension, what’s the data and control flow?

How to reduce CMSampleBuffer volume
Hello, Basically, I am reading and writing an asset. To simplify, I am just reading the asset and rewriting it into an output video without any modifications. However, I want to add a fade-out effect to the last three seconds of the output video. I don’t know how to do this. So far, before adding the CMSampleBuffer to the output video, I tried reducing its volume using an extension on CMSampleBuffer. In the extension, I passed 0.4 for testing, aiming to reduce the video's overall volume by 60%. My question is: How can I directly adjust the volume of a CMSampleBuffer? Capture session interrupted randomly
We are facing a strange issue where a small portion of our large userbase can not start the capture session in our app, as it gets interrupted with the following reason: AVCaptureSessionInterruptionReasonVideoDeviceNotAvailableWithMultipleForegroundApps Our users are all from iPhones, no one is using an iPad. Just to be sure we have set session.isMultitaskingCameraAccessEnabled = true but it does not seem to make any difference. Another weird interruption we are seeing

Unable to match music with shazamkit for Android
Hello, i can successfully match music using shazamkit on Apple using SwiftUI, a simple app that let user to load an audio file and exctracts the relative match, while i am unable to match music using shamzamkit on Android. After iPadOS 26 beta and iOS 26 beta, AVCaptureMetadataOutput no longer detects Face on some devices.
I'm creating an app that uses AVCaptureSession to pass camera input to AVCaptureMetadataOutput type set [metaout setMetadataObjectTypes:@[AVMetadataObjectTypeFace]] and scan Face. After updating to OS 26 Beta2 and iOS 26 Beta2, an issue has occurred where the delegate method of AVCaptureMetadataOutputObjectsDelegate is not called on some devices. The following devices are experiencing this issue. iPad (9th Gen) iPad air (4th Gen) iPhone 15 This issue has not occur on any other devices I have. I tried running the AVFoundation sample code on the Apple Developer site on the above device. Infrequent Sound inconsitency with Apple Music
Since MacOS 26 Apple Music has inconsitent drops to the Quality of some Tracks indiscrimantly. I don't know if others Expereinced it. It doesn't happen on the Speakers or connected via Bluetooth, but the AUX I/O has it quite often. It is more noticable on Headphones with 48kHz and higher Frequency Bandwidth. Here is the FB18062589

Save MPEG-TS (h264 or HEVC) video stream using AVAssetWriter.
I'm capturing video stream from GoPro camera (I demux UDP MPEG-TS packets) and create CMSampleBuffers from them, this works fine when I display them using CMSampleBufferLayer. However when I dump them to disk using AVAssetWriter and then playback it with AVPlayer, AVPlayer has problems with scrubbing, it also cannot render previous frames, it needs to go back to key frames. Also thumbnails generated with AVAssetImageGenerator are mostly distorted and green, even though I set the requestedTimeToleranceAfter longer than the key frames frequency. When I re-encode saved video once again with AVAssetExportSession and play it back then I can scrub the video just fine. Is it because re-transcoding adds additional metadata to enable generating frames when rewinding the video and scrubbing? If so is there a way to achieve it with AVAssetWriter without much time penalty? I need the dump/save operation to be very fast. I also considered the following: Instead of de-muxing video and creating CMSampleBuffers, maybe I could directly dump the stream to disk and somehow add moov atoms with timing information. Would this approach work? If so where I can find information how to do it? Thank you!

AVCaptureSession startRunning is slow
AVCaptureSession's startRunning method is thread blocking and seems to be slow. What is this method doing behind the scenes? For context: I'm working on Simulator Camera support and I have a 'fake' AVCaptureDevice that might be causing this. My hypothesis is that AVCaptureSession tries to connect to the device and waits for a notification to be posted back. I'd love to find a way to let my fake device message AVCaptureSession that it's connected.
