Simulate Background Fetch Not Working on Real Device, Works on Simulator
Hello Apple Support, I’m facing an issue with Background Fetch in my React Native project. When I click on Simulate Background Fetch in Xcode, everything works as expected on the iOS Simulator—background tasks run smoothly, and data is fetched without issues. However, on a real device, the app goes to the background but doesn’t execute any of the scheduled background tasks, and it also remains in the background without terminating. Here’s some additional context: React Native Project: I’m using React Native to develop this app, and the background tasks involve: Getting User Location: Fetching the user’s location in the background. API Calls: Calling an API to fetch necessary information based on the user’s location. Scheduling Notifications and Alarms: Scheduling notifications and alarms based on the API response data. Simulator vs. Real Device: In the iOS Simulator, all these background tasks trigger and function correctly when I simulate Background Fetch. On the real device, however, none of these tasks are triggered when I try to simulate Background Fetch. The app only moves to the background without performing any tasks or getting terminated. Device and Configuration Details: iOS Version: 17 Device Model: Iphone xs, Iphone 11, iphone 7 Background Modes: Background Fetch is enabled in Capabilities, and I’ve set the fetch interval to the minimum for testing. I’ve verified that all configurations are correctly set, and I’ve tried restarting the device and Xcode, but the issue persists. Is there something specific about Background Fetch that could prevent it from functioning as expected on physical devices? Any guidance on troubleshooting or additional steps would be highly appreciated. Thank you!

Company Developer Account locked
Hi everyone! Writing this from my personal Developer Account but this is related to my other account, enrolled under my startup organization account. Sunday morning I've started finalizing a feature on my startup that I've worked on with my colleagues for over a year already. I've pushed the code as usual, wanted to do a internal TestFlight build and I was apparently logged out on Xcode from my account. Thought it's no big deal - went to log in in Xcode Settings -> Account but my attempt was unsuccessful - I was presented a message stating "Unknown error occurred". Weird, but then I tried to use the browser to login into App Store Connect using the following account - I was met with the same message. Alright, I thought I might need to reset my password - clicked on Forgot Password and started the reset password flow. To my surprise, I am presented a new message, stating - Your account has been locked and I need to verify my phone number to request access to this account. I proceed, enter my phone number associated with the account and click continue. I am the presented with the message that my Account Access is Requested and I need to wait up to a day. I then also decided to check Keychain and well, surprise surprise - all my certificates have also been revoked from keychain, both development and distribution. Well, I wake up this morning to the following email: And attempting to login/reset password now presents a message stating that my account is now LOCKED: I've been an Apple Developer for more than 7 years. I've had multiple Developer accounts. This is the first time I'm seeing such things. Please, someone explain what is going on and how can I verify my identity with apple to access my account? I cannot release a new version of our startup's app. We are suffering business losses due to failing to meet a deadline with a potential client. I cannot believe such things are happening.

Xcode Test Pane for TDD and Unit Tests?
At the last place I worked it took roughly 5 minutes to do an application build. Which in turn made doing any sort of TDD or ever just regular Unit Tests extremely painful to do as the cycle time was simply too long. But that got me thinking. In recent versions of Xcode, Apple added Previews for SwiftUI Views that basically showed code changes to the View in real time. And Previews were made possible by extremely targeted compilation of the view in question. So... what if instead of a Preview pane in the Xcode IDE there was a Test pane the could be displayed such that Tests for a piece of code could be created and run almost immediately? Perhaps by adding a #Testing section to your code #Testing(MyService.self) // Define the entity to be tested. If you could drop the turnaround time AND provide a test playground for service level code that could speed development of such code greatly... and encourage interactive test development at the same time. What do you think?

Command line argument behaviour in macOS 15 after compiling with Xcode 16
I encountered this issue with an app I'm writing that accepts arguments. With some troubleshooting I've determined that this is an inherent behaviour in how Xcode 16 compiles SwiftUI apps and how macOS 15 launches them. The issue: Launching the app as open /Applications/AppName.app --args --arg1 --arg2 --arg3 etc should allow the app to process the arguments as CommandLine.arguments and this is still the case. How the app sees arguments is unchanged and doesn't matter if you use CommandLine.arguments or swift argument parser or don't have arguments at all. This will affect any SwiftUI app as I'll demonstrate below. The problem is that if you use a mix of arguments as --arg value pairs or --arg as a flag, then depending on the order the arguments are provides, the app won't launch properly. The icon will appear in the dock but no window appears until you click the icon in the dock. (BTW, having "Application is agent (UIElement)" set to YES in the Info.plist makes this task rather difficult.) In testing if you use all flags, it's fine. if the flags are in pairs, it's fine. if you have one flag and then a --arg value pair, you will see the issue. If you reverse the order so the flag is after then it works fine. How to replicate: On macOS 15 and Xcode 16 Open Xcode Create a new macOS App (called demoapp in my example) Select SwiftUI as the interface Build That it. Don't add anything and just build the boilerplate hello world app that Xcode makes for you. Once that's built, cd to your /Build/Products/Debug/ directory in terminal and try the following (this happens if you build for release as well): note, the app window will display when you click the icon in the dock, just not on initial launch # three single arguments open ./demoapp.app --args --foo --bar --baz # App window displays as expected # one single argument, one arg value pair open ./demoapp.app --args --foo --bar baz # The app window will not appear. # same arguments as before but the single argument is after the arg value pair open ./demoapp.app --args --bar baz --foo # App window displays as expected # arg[1] without `-` or `--` prefix open ./demoapp.app --args foo --bar --baz # The app window will not appear. # arg[1] and arg [2] without prefix open ./demoapp.app --args foo bar --baz # The app window will not appear. # single - in front of the first two arguments open ./demoapp.app --args -foo -bar baz # The app window will not appear. # single - in front of the first three arguments open ./demoapp.app --args -foo -bar -baz bob # App window displays as expected No idea what is going on but I suspect macOS does some pre-processing before launching the app, for example you can do stuff like open /Applications/SomeApp.app --args -AppleLanguages '(de)' to run using a specific language. I presume the OS is pre-processing arguments before launching the app proper. If I compile the app using Xcode 15.4 then this issue is not present. Also Apps compiled with Xcode 16 do not exhibit the issue on macOS 14 or earlier. It's a specific Xcode 16, macOS 15 thing in the way the app is compiled that makes it behave this way. I hope I've explained it correctly, but it's very easy to replicate. I filed a feedback for it (under a different apple account), FB15577018. Any insight into what's going on here would be helpful. Also if there's any compiler flags I could be setting. In my actual project, I'm not making any other changes. The same code compiled under Xcode 16 (.0 or .1RC) behaves differently to Xcode 15.4.

Usually this means the best DDI we could find for a platform did not have compatible CoreDevice content. Run 'devicectl list preferredDDI' from the command line to get more details on why no valid DDI can be found." I also tried uninstalling and installing Xcode but still the same issue. “Too many verification codes sent” error – 2FA SMS never arrives on standard login
Hello everyone, I’m running into an issue when logging into my Apple Developer account on the official site. After entering my Apple ID and password, I immediately see: too many verification codes sent At this point I should receive a 6-digit 2FA code via SMS to my trusted phone number, but nothing ever arrives. I’ve waited from one to seven days and tried again, but I still get the same error and still no SMS. I’ve double-checked that: My trusted phone number is correct in my Apple ID settings. My carrier isn’t blocking or rate-limiting SMS messages. Steps to reproduce: Go to developer.apple.com and click “Sign In.” Enter Apple ID and password. Submit credentials → immediately see “too many verification codes sent.” No SMS arrives. Retrying doesn’t help. Expected behavior: Apple sends a new 6-digit 2FA SMS to my trusted number. After entering it, I can complete the login flow. Actual behavior: I receive the “too many verification codes sent” message instantly. I never get the SMS code, even after waiting or retrying. Has anyone else experienced this on the standard Developer portal? Is there a way to clear the “too many verification codes sent” flag or otherwise force delivery of the 2FA SMS? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

The location coming out of geocoder in CLPlacemark has altitude 0, differently of the input CLLocation
When I execute: geoCoder.reverseGeocodeLocation(location, completionHandler:{[weak self](placemarks, error) in print("reverse geocoding location after altitude: ",location.altitude) print("placemark location first", placemarks?.first?.location?.altitude ?? -1) The input CLLocation has correct altitude 25, instead the location in the output placemarks have altitude 0, when of course they should have the same location. Moreover it is impossible to retrofit any data in the returned placemarks as they are portrayed as a read only property.

How to renew my annual membership (Apple Developer program)
My membership expires in 10 days and I'm trying to find out how I can renew it.According to Applet:"You can renew starting 30 days before the expiration date of your existing membership or any time after it expires. Your expiration date is available in your account on the developer website. To renew, sign in to your account with the Apple ID you used to enroll, and click the "Renew Now” button. If your membership is still active when you renew, your new membership will activate as soon as your current membership expires and you will receive two (2) new TSIs."So, I sign in to my account with the Apple ID I used to enroll and I can't see the "Reset Now" button anywyere. All I can see is the "Overview", "Membership", "Certificates, IDs & Profiles", "iTunes Connect", "CloudKit Dashboard" and "Code-Level Support" under the "Programs Resources" section, on the left, and the "Documentation", "Forums", "Bug Reporter" and "News & Updates" under the "Additional Resources" section, again on the left.I went to each and every of these and there is no "Renew Now" button anywhere.Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

How to Resolve Core Data Composite Attributes Errors in Xcode?
How do I resolve these errors reported in Xcode about using Core Data Composite Attributes feature? Composite Attributes feature requires tvOS deployment target 17.0 or later Composite Attributes feature requires watchOS deployment target 10.0 or later My app is a Cocoa app and targets macOS 14.0+. I do not have an iOS, iPadOS, tvOS nor watchOS targets. So, I don't understand why I am getting these errors. My Xcode project format is set to Xcode 16.0. I am on macOS Sequoia 15.2 (24C101) and using Xcode Version 16.2 (16C5032a). If you create a new Xcode project and choose macOS > App and Storage > Core Data and then Add Composite Type and set an attribute name and type, you will get the errors.

Breakpoint on Runtime Issue os_log_fault_default_callback
The app stops on the breakpoint when "All Runtime Issues" is added. If I disable the breakpoint, the app runs normally. Is there a new project setting to avoid this breakpoint from being set. It does not appear to be a valid error. I am running Xcode 16.2. I edited the "Type" field in the breakpoint box. This occurs with the "System Frameworks" option only.

Does Xcode force to download latest iOS simulator after update?
I have Xcode on my mac. I am iOS Dev. I do not know what version of Xcode was before I did next steps, but I could say that I had iOS Simulator 18.3.1. So I update my Xcode to Version 16.3 (16E140). At this version is available iOS Simulator 18.4. But from some time before Xcode separate downloading components and actual Xcode itself. So i make update and do not download latest iOS simulator. What i have: in Xcode -> Settings -> Components under " Other Installed Platforms" i have iOS 18.3.1 and 17.5 in Choose Destination dropdown menu i have nothing. And Xcode say me that i need install iOS Simulator. After some time with ChatGPT I could not do nothing from this. I try go to : Window -> Device and Simulators and here create new simulator with 18.3.1 and make it appear Always. But it didn't help. Solution I did: I download latest version 18.4 because i could not wait because i need fix bug only 1 hour shift and it was this hour so i fast download the simulator. After downloading 18.4 in Choose Destination dropdown it appears all versions of simulaors and 18.3.1 and that i created and 17.5 Question: Does Xcode force to install latest version of iOS simulator? What is the sense of this upgrade that now Xcode is updating faster because it download 8 GB not 16 if eventually I need download 8 GB again ? The new what i could do download Xcode in the evening and Simulator in the morning?

Content Blocker Disappears from Mac Safari Settings
I have had content blockers in the Mac App Store for years. Ever since moving to Sonoma, doing a clean build or archive in XCode deletes the extension from Safari settings since it never gets into the built app. The only way for me to get it back is to remove the DerivedData and target, reboot, and create a target with a different name. That works and stays around in Safari settings as long as I only build and don't clean. However, a clean or an archive removes it again. Restoring a version of the project from Time Machine that was posted to the App Store weeks or months ago doesn't work. However I can download the version of the app in the App Store, and it works, but I can't build it now from the source code that was used to build that version without going through the above process. Moving from Sonoma 14.7.1 to 14.7.2 didn't work. I would move to Sequoia if I had reason to believe that would work, but I don't. Safari 18.2, Sonoma 14.7.2, 32GB, 2.2 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7

I am not able to connect my iPad 10th gen (OS - 18.4.1) with Xcode (OS - 16.3). It is give me error "Failed to find a DDI that can be used to enable DDI services on the device. Usually this means the best DDI we could find for a platform did not have compatible CoreDevice content. Run 'devicectl list preferredDDI' from the command line to get more details on why no valid DDI can be found." I also tried uninstalling and installing Xcode but still the same issue. Please suggest the solution.
