Incorrect MDM Command Structure in DeclarativeManagement Example
I'm writing to point out a potential structural error in an example of the DeclarativeManagement command. This could cause significant confusion for developers implementing the MDM protocol. The standard structure for a server-to-device MDM command requires CommandUUID and the Command dictionary to be siblings under the top-level dictionary. The CommandUUID serves as a top-level identifier for the entire command envelope. This is the correct, expected structure: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Command</key> <dict> <key>Command</key> <dict> <key>RequestType</key> <string>DeclarativeManagement</string> </dict> </dict> <key>CommandUUID</key> <string>0001_DeclarativeManagement</string> </dict> </plist> This is an example of the incorrect structure I've seen: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Command</key> <dict> <key>CommandUUID</key> <string>0001_DeclarativeManagement</string> <key>Command</key> <dict> <key>RequestType</key> <string>DeclarativeManagement</string> </dict> </dict> </dict> </plist>

Problem applying screen changes (icon arrangement) in iOS 26 using Apple Configurator v2.18 on macOS Sequoia 15.6.1
I encounter a connection error with Apple Configurator v2.18 when, after making changes in macOS Sequel 15.6.1, I want to apply and transfer the changes to the iPhone icon layout in iOS 26: Apple Configurator v2.18 crashes and returns an error message: ‘Try the operation again. If it fails, quit the application, launch it again, and try again. [NSCocoaErrorDomain – 0x1001 (4097)]’ I have done some research, and it seems that this bug has been identified and fixed in Apple Configurator 2 v2.19 (Build 10434). Have you encountered this problem? Do you know where to find version v2.19? This fixed version does not appear to have been released yet, and Apple support has been unable to help me. Thank you all for your help.

Stop an in-house app by revoking it's certificate?
I'm hoping to make certain in-house apps fail to launch by revoking the in-house certificate that they were built on. This is by way of encouraging users of these apps to download updates built on a new certificate. How long will it take app built on a now-revoked certificate to no longer launch? Also, what is Apple's process for checking the validity of an in-house certificate in an app built on that certificate, running on iOS devices? I understand that provisioning profiles have built-in expiration dates, but will an in-house app that's built on a valid provisioning profile keep running even on a revoked certificate if the revocation happened before the certificate's own expiration date? Device fails to request mobileconfig after the second reboot, with no access logs in Nginx
We are developing an MDM (Mobile Device Management) solution for device management purposes, and our current implementation process is as follows: 1. Configure DEP profile to obtain profile_uuid We configured a DEP profile with the following parameters to retrieve the profile_uuid: { "allow_pairing": true, "anchor_certs": [], "auto_advance_setup": true, "await_device_configured": false, "configuration_web_url": "", "department": "test define profile", "devices": ["MNWF07QD9M"], "is_mandatory": false, "is_mdm_removable": false, "is_multi_user": false, "is_supervised": true, "language": "zh", "org_magic": "", "profile_name": "Enrollment Profile - MNWF07QD9M", "region": "cn", "skip_setup_items": [ "Accessibility", "ActionButton", "Android", "Appearance", "AppleID", "AppStore", "Biometric", "CameraButton", "DeviceToDeviceMigration", "Diagnostics", "EnableLockdownMode", "FileVault", "iCloudDiagnostics", "iCloudStorage", "iMessageAndFaceTime", "Intelligence", "Keyboard", "MessagingActivationUsingPhoneNumber", "Passcode", "Payment", "Privacy", "Restore", "RestoreCompleted", "Safety", "ScreenTime", "SIMSetup", "Siri", "SoftwareUpdate", "SpokenLanguage", "UpdateCompleted", "WatchMigration", "WebContentFiltering" ], "supervising_host_certs": [], "support_email_address": "", "support_phone_number": "", "url": "https://mdmp.com/mdm/apple/enroll?shopId=1" } We sent a POST request to the /profile endpoint with the above payload, and the response returned the profile_uuid: 605FB5C274303C19189C9B99DCD3280D. 2. Assign the profile We sent a POST request to the /profile/devices endpoint, including the aforementioned profile_uuid and the target devices list in the request body. 3. Scan the device with Apple Configurator 2 We used Apple Configurator 2 to scan and enroll the target device. Issue Encountered After the device restarts twice, it fails to retrieve the mobileconfig file from the URL: https://mdmp.com/mdm/apple/enroll. We are using Nginx as the web server and have enabled access logging, but the logs show no incoming requests from the device to the /mdm/apple/enroll endpoint at all. Could you please help identify where we might have made a mistake in this process?

Request for Update to ABM Device Management Profile Setting – iOS 26.x / iPhone 17 MDM Restore Loop
Dear Apple Developer Team, Following the rollout of iOS 26.x and the introduction of the iPhone 17, we have identified a critical issue affecting Mobile Device Management (MDM) enrolment and restore operations. The issue appears to stem from the Device Management Profile configuration 'do_not_use_profile_from_backup' within Apple Business Manager (ABM), which currently defaults to False. This setting should be modified to True to ensure proper functionality. When the profile remains set to False, organisations leveraging MDM encounter repeated failures during device backup and restore operations. Specifically, restoring a supervised or managed device triggers a persistent MDM registration loop, effectively preventing deployment of iPhone 17 devices in managed environments. We recommend that Apple review and adjust the default Device Management Profile property within ABM to address this issue and restore full MDM compatibility for iOS 26.x and later.

macOS 12.6 LightsOutManagement; address already in use
Hello together, I'm currently trying to implement a simple way to use the new LOM commands for our new mac infrastructure. My MDM sollution is a custom instance of MicroMDM. MDM profiles are working fine, but when I send a https://developer.apple.com/documentation/devicemanagement/lom_device_request_command with any command (Reset, PowerON, PowerOFF), then it doesn't reset/restart/start the target Mac. Host X has a device profile and host Y a controller profile. Host/Mac Y = fe80::YYYY:YYYY:YYYY:8608 Host/Mac X = fe80::XX:XXXX:XXXX:cfab Now, if I send a LOM request for Mac Y to reset Mac X, I get the error "Address already in use" on Mac X (logs via log stream) log stream (private logs) And wireshark on Mac X shows there is traffic, but MacX does not respond to anything, not even tcp syn packages. This error is really weird, because there are no special ports running on that mac and I don't know what Port lightsoutmanagementd tries to listen to. lsof | grep LISTEN | grep -i ipv6 launchd 1 root 7u IPv6 0x457f571ac3303fd7 0t0 TCP *:ssh (LISTEN) launchd 1 root 11u IPv6 0x457f571ac33015d7 0t0 TCP *:rfb (LISTEN) launchd 1 root 27u IPv6 0x457f571ac3303fd7 0t0 TCP *:ssh (LISTEN) lightsout 112 root 4u IPv6 0x457f571ac3302ad7 0t0 TCP *:55555 (LISTEN) kdc 143 root 5u IPv6 0x457f571ac33023d7 0t0 TCP *:kerberos (LISTEN) screensha 403 root fp.u IPv6 0x457f571ac33015d7 0t0 TCP *:rfb (LISTEN) (fileport=0x2103) screensha 403 root 3u IPv6 0x457f571ac33015d7 0t0 TCP *:rfb (LISTEN) ARDAgent 535 devops 9u IPv6 0x457f571ac33031d7 0t0 TCP *:net-assistant (LISTEN) Did anyone have the same problem, or maybe can hint me in the right direction? No prompt/notification on device when using ABM/ASM MDM migration deadline in iOS 26
I'm are attempting to use the device management migration feature in Apple Business Manager / Apple School Manager (for devices running iOS 26 / iPadOS 26) to re-assign managed devices from one MDM server to another. We followed the published procedure (select device(s) → Assign Device Management → Set deadline → Continue). However, we are observing that on the device side, no notification or prompt appears to the user (such as “Enrollment Required” or “Your organization requires this device to enroll in a different device management service”), even after the migration deadline has passed. Here are the environment details: Device OS version: (iOS 26.1) Device ownership: enrolled via Automated Device Enrollment MDM re-assignment in ABM: old MDM server(name: https://dev5.clomo.com/panel/mackey-dev/ ) → new MDM server (name: https://obliging-bunny-equally.ngrok-free.app/ ) Deadline set: (12/10/2025 12:00 AM) Network connectivity: confirmed online at deadline time We would like to know: Under what exact conditions will the device display the notification/prompt, and what common mis-configurations prevent it from appearing? Is there any device log or activity indicator in ABM/ASM to confirm that the migration instruction has been sent to the device? In cases where the prompt does not appear, what troubleshooting steps can we perform on the device (or in the MDM/ABM configuration) to correct it?

ACME Managed Device Attestation - Saving certificate to Kerychain
Hello! I’m testing certificate issuance using a locally running Smallstep step-ca ACME server with the device-attest-01 challenge. I’ve created a custom MDM profile for this purpose. When I install the profile, the certificate is issued successfully, but it is not saved to the Keychain as stated in the documentation. I can only see the certificate via mdmclient or in the Wi-Fi settings dropdown menu. Is this expected behavior, or are there additional settings that need to be included in the MDM profile?

Please help me!! Invalid expiration date in profile of summary of review app.ipa content
The profile expiration date is approaching, and no amount of inquiries will solve it. Create a new profile Download a new profile from Xcode Press archive, press Distribute App, press Enterprise, and distribute Invalid expiration date in profile of summary of review app.ipa content I've tried everything that comes out by Googleing profiles, such as regenerating profiles, erasing caches, updating Xcode, updating macOS, deleting existing profile information, etc. Expiration date different from the expiration date of the profile created in that menu is displayed. The expiration date of the profile I created is December 8, 2026, and the previous certificate is January 22, 2026. However, the profile information of the generated ipa is February 12, 2026. So I can't distribute this app because I'm scared, and the expiration date is coming up. Users should have a period of time to update. Get me a novice developer who's choking up.

iOS26 WebContentFilter DenyList changes
We have a WebContentFilter that has an AllowList with a couple of domains and a DenyList that includes www.apple.com. This works on iOS18.x but doesn't work in iOS26 as www.apple.com can be reached. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/deployment/depc77c9609/web Indicates that .apple.com is always accessible but evidence seems to indicate this wasn't the case pre iOS26. An older version of this page https://web.archive.org/web/20220427202204/https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/deployment/depc77c9609/web has no mention of .apple.com although field names are also different. Has this change come about due to the filtering changes introduced in iOS26 and is there any way we can still block .apple.com going forward. Would a content plugin be an options ?

Supporting development of ACME - Freshness code question
It seems like there are some "mixed messages" out there about what should be in OID 1.2.840.113635.100.8.11.1 in the attestation cert. Is it just a SHA256 hash of the nonce issued by the ACME server? The MDM profile yaml says: "In the attestation certificate the value of the freshness code OID matches the nonce specified by the ACME server via the ACME protocol." I'm hoping the difficulty we're seeing is down to the certificate being created once (and not again for 7 days). Otherwise, we're not decoding/understanding the OID's contents properly. Thanks.

iOS supervised mode without resetting data
I came across this tool that enables supervised mode on iOS without resetting the data. it's essentially a macOS with a unix executable file underneath. a quick guide of how it works is here https://www.techlockdown.com/guides/enable-supervised-mode-iphone I would appreciate any guidance on how to recreate this, as this is behind a paywall, and would like to offer something similar for free to people who want to restrict their families devices.

Duplicated SCEP client certificates on iOS device
I am having an issue with duplicated SCEP client certificates on an iOS device. We deployed an SCEP profile via MDM, then deleted and redeployed it via MDM. In Settings > General > VPN & Device Management, only one SCEP profile is visible. However, Safari shows duplicated certificates when a server requests a client certificate. We have tried removing the cert profile on MDM and unenrolling the device from MDM, but only the latest certificate got removed, leaving previous ones stuck on the device or in the Safari app. We have found no way to remove these duplicated certificates other than factory reset the devices. This appears to be a potential iOS bug affecting certificate cleanup. We need assistance to resolve this issue. Also, the issue is difficult to reproduce but has happened to a number of our managed devices.

Unable to get inbound and outbound byte count in Content Filter report.
Hello, I am building a Content Filter app for iOS and would like to get access to some information about network connections that are happening on the device. I managed to have the handle(_ report: NEFilterReport) method of my NEFilterControlProvider called, but the bytesOutboundCount and bytesInboundCount properties of the report are always 0. How can I have the real byte count of the connection ?
