How to debug Quick Look Preview Extension
When I launch the Quick Look Preview Extension target in Xcode, an app called Quick Look Simulator opens with an almost empty window: Online I read that the Terminal command qlmanage allows to test Quick Look plugins (which I think were an older format for creating Quick Look extensions), but running qlmanage -p /path/to/previewed/file -c public.text -g /path/to/QuickLookPreviewExtension.appex (where QuickLookPreviewExtension.appex is generated by the Xcode build and is located in the DerivedData folder) gives an error Can't get generator at QuickLookPreviewExtension.appex How can I debug a Quick Look Preview Extension?

ApplicationTokens changing
We persist ApplicationTokens in a storage container that ShieldConfigurationExtension has access to. In rare, cases all the ApplicationTokens for a user seem to change. We know this because the Application parameter passed into configuration(shielding application: Application) -> ShieldConfiguration function has a Token that does not match (using == ) any of the ones we are persisting in storage. Interestingly, the persisted ones still work, so I don't believe storage has gotten corrupted or anything. We can use them to add or remove shields, we can use them to display labels of the apps they represent, etc. But they don’t match what’s passed into the ShieldConfiguration extension. If the user goes into the FamilyPicker at this point and selects an app of a token that we are already persisting, the FamilyPickerSelection will have a token matching the new one that is passed into ShieldConfigurationExtension, not the one we persisted when they last selected that app. This leads me to believe the tokens are updated/rotated in some cases. When and why does this happen, and how can we handle it gracefully?

Spotlight App Extension does not persist custom Attributes
We are in the process of updating our legacy Spotlight MDImporter to the new macOS Spotlight App Extension. The transition works well for standard attributes such as title, textContent, and keywords. How to open parent app from `ShieldActionDelegate`
Hello, I think it is quite a common use-case to open the parent app that owns the ShieldActionDelegate when the user selects an action in the Shield. There are only three options available that we can do in response to an action: ShieldActionResponse.none ShieldActionResponse.close ShieldActionResponse.defer It would be great if this new one would be added as well: ShieldActionResponse.openParentApp While finding a workaround for now, the problem is that the ShieldActionDelegate is not a normal app extension. That means, normal tricks do not work to open the parent app from here. For example, UIApplication.shared.open(url) does not work because we can’t access UIApplication from the ShieldActionDelegate unfortunately. NSExtensionContext is also not available in the ShieldActionDelegate unfortunately, so that’s also not possible. There are apps however, that managed to find a workaround, in my research I stumbled across these two: https://apps.apple.com/de/app/applocker-passcode-lock-apps/id1132845904?l=en-GB https://apps.apple.com/us/app/app-lock/id6448239603 Please find a screen recording (gif) attached. Their workaround is 100% what I’m looking for, so there MUST be a way to do so that is compliant with the App Store guidelines (after all, the apps are available on the App Store!). I had documented my feature request more than 2 years ago in this radar as well: FB10393561

"Application" is accessing your screen notification
Hi! I'm developing an application based on Chrome that needs to take regular screenshots of webpages. Under the hood (actually Chromium), it uses SCScreenshotManager to capture screenshots automatically (without user interaction). I've noticed that regularly using this API triggers a user notification saying: "Your Screen 'AppTest' has accessed your screen and system audio 3,594 times in the past 30 days. You can manage this in Settings." How can I prevent this notification from appearing? Are there any specific entitlements(Or configuration of SCScreenshotManager) that I can use? Thanks!

Screen Time issues after transferring App developer account ownership
After transferring the App ownership to a different account, if you update the app on iOS, two identical apps will show up in Settings > Screen Time. Users can't control the blocking settings from before the update - the only fix is to restart the phone. After the next execution of manageStore.shield.applications, users still can't manually disable the restrictions - their only option is to uninstall and reinstall the app. I believe this is related to how Screen Time API's authentication works - it's not just tied to the app's bundle ID, but also linked to the developer account's organization ID. Any suggestions for a clean solution that would allow smooth app updates after the transfer without running into these issues?

WeatherKit JWT fails (WDSJWTAuthenticatorServiceListener Code 2) despite entitlement
I’m hitting a WeatherKit JWT failure (WDSJWTAuthenticatorServiceListener Code = 2) at runtime even though the entitlement is present in both the signed binary and the embedded provisioning profile. Confirmed the capability is selected in Certificates ▸ Identifiers ▸ Profiles and added in Xcode target settings. WeatherKit Terms of Service accepted in the portal. Deleted the app, removed any device management profiles, rebooted the phone, clean-built & ran again. Reproduced the issue in a minimal SwiftUI app that calls: WeatherService.shared.weather(for: CLLocation(latitude: 33.8121, longitude: -117.9190), including: .current) – same Code 2 error. iOS app not getting killed after removing from app stack manually.
I am having an app in which we are using NEHotspotHelper to detect wifi changes. when I try to kill the app and network change detected, we are seeing logs in NEHotspotHelper* module and after that we are able see the logs indicating app launched in background. [Application] application(_:didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:), UIApplicationState: 2 But when I checked in the app stack, I couldn't find the app. Then I clicked icon to launch the app, it launched without splash screen as if it came from background. Need your support to understand this is expected behaviour.

Locale.Script seems to be returning a value even though the language has no script
We just dropped support for iOS 16 in our app and migrated to the new properties on Locale to extract the language code, region, and script. However, after doing this we are seeing an issue where the script property is returning a value when the language has no script. Here is the initializer that we are using to populate the values. The identifier is coming from the preferredLanguages property that is found on Locale. init?(identifier: String) { let locale = Locale(identifier: identifier) guard let languageCode = locale.language.languageCode?.identifier else { return nil } language = languageCode region = locale.region?.identifier script = locale.language.script?.identifier } Whenever I inspect locale.language I see all of the correct values. However, when I inspect locale.language.script directly it is always returning Latn as the value. If I inspect the deprecated locale.scriptCode property it will return nil as expected. Here is an example from the debugger for en-AU. I also see the same for other languages such as en-AE, pt-BR. Since the language components show the script as nil, then I would expect locale.language.script?.identifier to also return nil.

Bug: AASA file not fetched on app install
~5% of our users when downloading the iOS application from the Apple Store for the first time are unable to enrol a Passkey and experience an error saying the application is not associated with [DOMAIN]. The error message thrown by the iOS credentials API is "The operation couldn't be completed. Application with identifier [APPID] is not associated with domain [DOMAIN]" We have raised this via the developer support portal with case id: 102315543678 Question: Why does the AASA file fail to fetch on app install and is there anything that can be done to force the app to fetch the file? Can this bug be looked at urgently as it is impacting security critical functionality? Other Debugging Observations We have confirmed that our AASA file is correctly formatted and hosted on the Apple CDN. Under normal circumstances the association is created on install and Passkey enrolment works as intended. We have observed that when customers uninstall/reinstall the app this often, but not always, resolves the issue. We also know this issue can resolve itself overtime without any intervention. We have ruled out network (e.g VPN) issues and have reproduced the issue across a number of different network configurations. We have ruled out the Keychain provider and have reproduced it across a variety of different providers and combinations of. We observed this across multiple versions of the iOS operating system and iPhone hardware including the latest hardware and iOS version.

Background communication of Apple Watch
I am currently developing an app for the Apple Watch. In RTPController.swift, I handle the sending, receiving, and playback of audio, and the specific processes are as follows: Overview of the current implementation: Audio processing: Audio processing is performed by setting the AVAudioSession to the playAndRecord category and voiceChat mode within RTPController, and by activating the AVAudioEngine. Audio reception: RTP packets (audio data) are received over the network within the setupConnection() method of RTPController. Audio playback: The received audio data is passed to the playSound(data:) method and played back through the AVAudioEngine and AVAudioPlayerNode. Xcode Capabilities settings: Signing & Capabilities Background Modes: Audio, AirPlay, and Picture in Picture Voice over IP Workout processing Privacy descriptions in Info.plist: Privacy - Health Share Usage Description Privacy - Health Update Usage Description Privacy - Health Records Usage Description Question 1: When the digital crown is pressed during a call, a message appears on the screen stating, "End Call to Continue," and the call cannot be moved to the background. As a result, it is not possible to operate other apps while on a call. Is this behavior due to the specifications of CallKit? Question 2: Our app stops communication when it goes into the background, but the walkie-talkie app on the Apple Watch can transition to the background by pressing the digital crown during a call, allowing it to continue receiving and playing the other party's audio while in the background. To achieve background transition during a call and audio reception and playback in the background, is the current implementation of RTPController and the enabled background modes insufficient? Best regards.

Spotlight search by keywords setuped in NSUserActivity doesn't work
Hey there! I faced issue in iOS 18 and newer when Spotlight search doesn't show my App in results. In older versions it works. Here is my code: func configureUserActivitity(with id: String, keywords: [String]) { let activity = NSUserActivity(activityType: id) activity.contentAttributeSet = self.defaultAttributeSet activity.isEligibleForSearch = true activity.keywords = Set(keywords) activity.becomeCurrent() self.userActivity = activity } I didn't find any reasons why it doesn't work now. Maybe I should report a bug?

When receiving a call with CallKit on iOS18 or later, the app's dark mode icon will be displayed
As the title says. This happens even when not in dark mode.

MFMailComposeViewController in visionOS does not have a cancel button
When i use the MFMailComposeViewController in visionOS, there is no cancel button for the controller. The button at the bottom closes the app. Is anyone else experiencing this? if([MFMailComposeViewController canSendMail]) { MFMailComposeViewController* controller = [[MFMailComposeViewController alloc] init]; controller.mailComposeDelegate = (id <MFMailComposeViewControllerDelegate>)view; [controller setToRecipients:toAddresses]; [controller setSubject:subject]; [controller setMessageBody:body isHTML:isHtml]; [view presentViewController:controller animated:YES completion:nil]; }

Nearby Interaction property supportsDirectionMeasurement returns false and NINearbyObject direction property is nil
I am trying on iOS 16.1.1 the Nearby Interaction framework. I am testing it on two iPhones 14 Pro Max. The supportsDirectionMeasurement property returns false (!) and the direction property on the NINearbyObjects is nil. Has someone experienced the same issue?

WeatherKit JWT fails (WDSJWTAuthenticatorServiceListener Code 2) despite entitlement
I’m hitting a WeatherKit JWT failure (WDSJWTAuthenticatorServiceListener Code = 2) at runtime even though the entitlement is present in both the signed binary and the embedded provisioning profile. Environment Team ID 5SZLQLQ9MD Bundle ID ParkProfessor.ParkProfessorDisneyland Device / OS iPhone 15 Pro · iOS 17.4.1 (hardware, not simulator) Xcode 15.3 (15E204a) Console output Failed to generate jwt token for: com.apple.weatherkit.authservice Error Domain=WeatherDaemon.WDSJWTAuthenticatorServiceListener.Errors Code=2 "(null)" Entitlement & profile snippets codesign -d --entitlements :- WeatherKitTest.app | grep -A2 weatherkit com.apple.developer.weatherkit security cms -D -i embedded.mobileprovision | grep -A2 weatherkit com.apple.developer.weatherkit What I’ve already tried Regenerated a new development certificate and a new iOS App Development provisioning profile with WeatherKit enabled. Request It looks like the App ID may need a backend entitlement sync. Could someone from the WeatherKit team please check the status for Team 5SZLQLQ9MD, Bundle ID ParkProfessor.ParkProfessorDisneyland and enable WeatherKit token generation? Thanks!

iOS app not getting killed after removing from app stack manually.
