Hi! I'm working on a web extension for Safari and I need to send messages from the containing application to JavaScript. For this I use the method class func dispatchMessage( withName messageName: String, toExtensionWithIdentifier identifier: String, userInfo: [String : Any]? = nil ) async throws of the SFSafariApplication class. If the site is opened in Safari in normal mode, everything works as expected. However, if the site is "docked", the messages are not transmitted to this "Web App".

Hi everyone, My web application has two services: myapp.com and account.myapp.com. The first manages all app content, while the latter handles the authentication, with Sign In with Apple included. The tech stack is mainly composed of React, JS, and Express. We'd like to allow users to authenticate inside a dialog on some pages of myapp.com. To avoid replicating stuff from one service to another, we put an iframe inside the dialog to show the authentication standard page from account.myapp.com. Email and Facebook processes work fine, but we have the following issues with Sign in with Apple: On desktop, not Safari, a pop-up window opens when you click on the Apple button, and it works as expected. On desktop Safari, the pop-up window is blocked. We want the native Apple pop-up to show instead of a generic browser new window. On mobile, nothing happens on click Obviously, outside the iframe, everything works as expected. I can't seem to find anything related to an iframe constraint in the Sign in with Apple docs. Is this feasible?

Hello, most of the time I can scan my QR code which is associated with my website and my app clip launches. But some few times I've noticed the URL just opens to that URL in safari. I have had this app clip live for months now so should not be the normal 3 day or so wait. The app clip status is validated for debug and cache in build metadata. When I run diagnostics on my iPhone it says the URL is too long but the data reads every time the app clip is launched so I think that should be okay. My suspicion is that the URL I use hits my server and redirects to the actually app clip url. So I'm this might be causing the hiccup. But why so infrequently then? Only when the app clip fails to launch and I open the URL in safari do I see analytics from my server saying the QR URL was hit and had a status code 302 which redirects to a 404. (since that would be the app clip URL) So wondering if there is a way I can reproduce this issue and then resolve it :D

iOS 26 (from beta 1 to beta 2) We have a VPN app that installs a per-app VPN profile with SafariDomains to filter Safari network traffic. This setup works as expected on iOS versions lower than 26.0. Steps to Reproduce: Install the VPN app with a per-app VPN profile. Configure SafariDomains with any URL (e.g., example.com). Open Safari and navigate to the configured URL. Example Configuration: We tested with a simple example by adding only one URL to SafariDomains (example.com). As the title suggests, given today’s overpowered device performance, shouldn’t Safari and WKWebView allow repainting during window resizing? Currently, all WKWebView-based apps pause page rendering during resize. When a user double-clicks the drag region, the sequence goes: pause rendering → enlarge or shrink the window → leave a blank area → repaint the page. The whole process feels inelegant—especially on devices that support ProMotion.

Hi! I'm trying to implement ASWebAuthenticationSession to log in to my app via the web app backend. However, I'm a bit confused about the cookies that this has access to. When I set prefersEphemeralWebBrowserSession=false it does not seem to use the cookies from Safari. Or at least, I'm logged into my web app in Safari, but when I use ASWebAuthenticationSession I still have to log in again. Does it not share session cookies with Safari? I did notice that if I don't use an ephemeral session, once I log out and try to log back in my app does automatically log me in but that's actually unhelpful in my opinion because now I have no way to clear that session because it only lives in the ASWebAuthenticationSession context. If that's the case I may as well use the ephemeral session then because it seems to have only drawbacks.

After the first installation (out of AppStore) of the extension in the browser, the content script is correctly inserted into the page (twice for some reason) and a message is sent from the root of the content script to the background script, which responds correctly. Hi, I’m working with the SFExtensionProfileKey in my Safari Web Extension. As I understand it, this key is to get the UUID of the profile currently in use. However, it seems to be missing (no key in userInfo) when the default profile is active. Also, I haven’t found any API to get a profile’s human-readable name or list all available profiles. Could someone clarify: If the value of SFExtensionProfileKey is absent, can I safely assume the default profile is in use? Is there a supported way to get a profile’s display name? I'm trying to use DNR to force safe search with Qwant search engine. Under certain circumstances (scenario described below) the search is performed with an API which contains the safe search level in a URL parameter.
