In my application, I use HTML pages to display the interface. Since it’s a cross-platform app, the pages and interactions work properly on other platforms. However, in WebKit, because HTTPS protocol is used, JS requests from the page cannot use the ws protocol but must use the wss protocol under HTTPS. Is there any way to allow a webpage under HTTPS to use ws requests normally? Google Chrome can do this.

Hello, ive been dealing with this glitch all year that hasnt happened last year. When I watch a video on public safari and then it exit the video it immediately takes me to the private tab but when I go on the private tab to watch videos and exit out it takes me back to the website just like normal. Its a pretty annoying bug and I watch all my videos in the private tab because of it

Subject: Unexpected system confirmation dialog when opening a Universal Link Description of the issue: We’re implementing a login flow using Native iOS apps, Universal Links, and OpenID Connect authentication. Our domain is correctly configured with the apple-app-site-association file, and Universal Links work as expected. However, under certain circumstances, the behavior differs on the same login page: The user connects to the OIDC provider in their mobile browser. Instead of automatically switching to the Native application, a popup asks the user to open the app. The behavior depends on how the login page is opened: When opened in a new browser tab, the Universal Link opens the app immediately without showing any system confirmation dialog. When the same tab is reused without a page refresh, iOS displays a system confirmation dialog asking the user to open the link in the app. This confirmation dialog doesn’t appear in the first scenario. This additional system dialog impacts the user experience, as we aim for a frictionless and seamless login flow with minimal confirmation steps. Question: Why does the app switch work automatically only the first time? Is this intentional iOS behavior? If so, what security requirement or system rule causes a confirmation dialog when reusing the same tab, but not when redirecting in a new tab or pressing a button on the reused tab? We have written a PAC script that blocklists certain domains and whitelists others. We went to Settings > Network > Wi-Fi (the network we are using), then clicked on Details, and under Proxies, we added the PAC file URL in the Automatic Proxy Configuration section. We tried hosting the PAC file both on localhost and on a separate HTTP server. After saving the settings, we tested several URLs. The blocking and allowing behavior works correctly in all browsers except Safari. Below is the PAC script we are using for your reference. The script works as expected in browsers other than Safari. I have a website I’m working on that uses WordPress and element mentor pro. Basically everything is custom HTML in individual containers and custom CSS for each page. The problem that I’m running into is there needs to be a pop-up and the easiest way to do that is just use the element or proper pop-ups however, the overlay is not extending into the safe areas on the bottom or top notch. I’ve been trying to figure out a way to fix this, and I cannot get it to work. I’ve tried having CSS in every imaginable way to get it to extend the overlay.. The other issue is for this website there is no header. It’s just a container that’s the hero content and for some reason that also will not extend into the top-notch safe area. It extends to the bottom notch just fine but not the top notch and there’s just a white bar there where I prefer it be the background gradient that I have set up for the hero however, nothing I do will get it to push into that top notch safe area either. Hoping someone else had this issue and can help me out

When a DNR rule is set for a specific URL and the request receives a server-side redirect (e.g., 302) to a different URL that does not match the urlFilter, the rule still seems to apply to the redirected request. We are using macOS 15.4 and Safari 18.4. For example, consider two sequential calls: call1 and call2. call1 triggers a 302 redirect to call2. A DNR rule is created to add a "Cookie" header to call1 based on its URL. Unexpectedly, the same cookie is also added to call2, even though call2's URL does not match the rule's urlFilter. This results in the Set-Cookie response from call1 being ignored, and call2 receiving the manually set cookie instead—leading to incorrect behavior. This issue doesn't occur in Chrome or Firefox, where the rule is not applied to the redirected request if the URL no longer matches. We are looking for assistance in fixing these issues and having our Safari Extension function the same as it does in Firefox and Chrome.

Hello everyone, We've had our app rejected twice under Guideline 3.2.2 regarding charitable donations, and we're seeking clarification on the correct implementation. We've read the guidelines but want to confirm the technical approach with the community's experience. The Rejection Reason: Apple states: "We still noticed that your app includes the ability to collect charitable donations within the app..." They specify that since we are not an approved nonprofit, we must use one of the alternatives, primarily: "provide a link to your website that launches the default browser or SFSafariViewController for users to make a donation." Our Current (Rejected) Implementation: User taps a "Help" button in our native app. A native modal appears inside our app where the user enters their donation amount and email address for the receipt. The user clicks "Donate," which then opens an SFSafariViewController to our website's payment page (e.g., Stripe, PayPal). The amount and email are passed as URL parameters to pre-fill the form. Our Questions for the Community: Is the issue solely the fact that we have a native modal for data entry? We understand we cannot process the payment in-app, but we thought collecting the intent (amount, email) was acceptable before handing off to Safari. What is the definitive, compliant flow? Option A: Should the "Help" button do nothing more than open an SFSafariViewController to a generic donations landing page on our website (https://ourwebsite.com/donate), with no data pre-filled? The user must then navigate and enter all information on the website itself. Option C: The rejection also mentions SMS. Has anyone had success implementing a "Text-to-Donate" link instead of a web flow? Wording: The button in our app currently says "Donate". Should this be changed to a more passive call to action like "Visit Website to Donate" to make it absolutely clear the transaction is external? We want to ensure our next submission is successful. We are embedding TikTok Live streams inside our iOS app using WKWebView. The Live stream loads and plays normally at first. However, when the app goes to the background (for example, user presses the Home button or switches apps) and then returns to the foreground, the TikTok Live video and audio become paused and do not resume automatically. Expected behavior When the app returns from the background to the foreground, the video/audio should resume playback automatically Actual behavior Video/audio pauses after app resumes from background Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. I have an app which has at least two extensions: A Content Blocker extension with a request handler that returns an appropriate NSExtensionItem as part of beginRequest. A different file URL is returned depending upon if the content blocking is on or off by a user setting A Safari Web Extension that includes a toolbar button and popover that enables users to enable or disable the ad blocking of the content blocker extension All three targets (App, Content Blocker appex and Web Extension appex) use an App Group default to read and set the on or off status of the content blocking. When the user changes the content blocking status, the app group default is updated and SFContentBlockerManager.reloadContentBlocker(...) is called. The Content Blocker extension reads the default and then returns the appropriate file URL. The issue is, I have noticed that whenever SFContentBlockerManager.reloadContentBlocker(...) is called from the app, Safari always applies the correct rules from the returned file URL. However sometimes when SFContentBlockerManager.reloadContentBlocker(...) is called from the Safari Web Extension using native messaging, Safari does NOT apply the correct rules from the returned file URL. Using logging I have confirmed that the Content Blocker extension always returns the appropriate file URL irrespective if called as a result of the app or the web extension. Despite this, Safari does not seem to always apply the returned file URL rules when it is called from the Safari Web Extension appex. In these cases, quitting Safari and relaunching it seems to make it apply the rules correctly (obviously this is applying it due to its launch state, not due to the Web extension appex asking it to do so at that point). All targets have access to the App Group location where the active content blocking file URL belongs and the inactive content blocking file URL is within the Safari content blocker target as a resource. I don't think this is a memory status issue as I cannot see the Content Blocker extension being killed when it returns complex rules --- the fact it always works when called via the app also seems to rule this possibility out. This brings up a number of questions: Is calling SFContentBlockerManager.reloadContentBlocker(...) from a different appex, of the same app target and app group supported? (it seems to work sometimes and did work in previous versions of the app). Is there an issue that the Content Blocker extension sometimes returns a file URL that perhaps the calling Web Extension appex may not have access to (even though Safari should via the Content Blocker extension)? Any other ideas of why this may not be working correctly? Has anyone else experienced this? It seems to happen on both iOS and macOS Safari using the same codebase.

For this I use the method class func dispatchMessage( withName messageName: String, toExtensionWithIdentifier identifier: String, userInfo: [String : Any]? = nil ) async throws of the SFSafariApplication class. If the site is opened in Safari in normal mode, everything works as expected. However, if the site is "docked", the messages are not transmitted to this "Web App". Is it possible to somehow link the container application to the docked website so that messages from the application are received by this "Web App"? That you.

Hello, I'm using Safari 18.2 on Sonoma 14.6.1. I was using the Developer Tools to do a Local Request Override in the Source tab for a CSS file that had a changing query string. I thought I had a good regular expression to catch all variants, but apparently it was too generic and possibly wrong, and made both Source and Network tabs no longer work in my Safari. The regular expression I entered for the Local Request Override was: //build/style.css(?.*)?$ Now my dev tools is broken to the extent that the Source and Network tabs no longer work. The slide-out panel on Source that shows Breakpoints, LocalOverrides, etc no longer shows. The toggle for it does, but does nothing now. UI in general looks a little wack on both tabs. So, since I can't turn off the Local Request Override, I've been trying to locate where Safari may have stored it to manually delete it. Not having a lot of luck on that front. It seems to me that Safari was unable to escape my regular expression correctly and it then causes additional issue. Just a guess though. Any advice or help in getting Safari Source & Network working again / manual removal of the LocalOverride would be greatly appreciated. I'm fluent in OSX and Linux, but grep was not much help surfacing anything that worked. Thanks in Advance, possibly a Safari bug as well.

Hello, I am developing a website which starts a web worker using the js code: const zarrWorker = new Worker('./zarr_file.js', { type: 'module' });. The script 'zarr_file.js' is served from the same origin with Cross-Origin-Embedder-Policy: require-corp and Cross-Origin-Opener-Policy: same-origin and it is importing external modules through the import statement (e.g. import * as zarr from "https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/zarrita/+esm";). All the external modules are blocked by Safari with the error Worker load was blocked by Cross-Origin-Embedder-Policy, although I can see (by running curl on them) that they correctly set cross-origin-resource-policy: cross-origin`. The same website works fine in Chrome and Firefox. Is it a bug or is Safari implementing stricter policies? In the latter case what would be the solution?

I'm trying to load a webpage in that application through our plugin using a WKWebView & I set my class as the navigationDelegate for the same. I do not receive any callbacks for the WKNavigationDelegate methods. I have debugged & made sure that the navigationDelegate is actually set to my class.
