Issue with the ApplePay SSL server certificate
Hi support, Since June 26th 2025 we are experiencing an issue with the ApplePay SSL server certificate installed on our servers in Production environment. We are facing an exception error during the initializing of a payment session while calling the url: https://apple-pay-gateway.apple.com/paymentservices/startSession The exception is Untrusted Server Certificate Chain: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: java.security.cert.CertificateException: Untrusted Server Certificate Chain       at sun.security.ssl.Alerts.getSSLException(Alerts.java:192)       at sun.security.ssl.SSLSocketImpl.fatal(SSLSocketImpl.java:1915)       at sun.security.ssl.Handshaker.fatalSE(Handshaker.java:306)       at sun.security.ssl.Handshaker.fatalSE(Handshaker.java:300)       at sun.security.ssl.ClientHandshaker.serverCertificate(ClientHandshaker.java:1577)       at sun.security.ssl.ClientHandshaker.processMessage(ClientHandshaker.java:213)       at sun.security.ssl.Handshaker.processLoop(Handshaker.java:1010)       at sun.security.ssl.Handshaker.process_record(Handshaker.java:946)       at sun.security.ssl.SSLSocketImpl.readRecord(SSLSocketImpl.java:1034)       at sun.security.ssl.SSLSocketImpl.performInitialHandshake(SSLSocketImpl.java:1343)       at sun.security.ssl.SSLSocketImpl.startHandshake(SSLSocketImpl.java:1370)       at sun.security.ssl.SSLSocketImpl.startHandshake(SSLSocketImpl.java:1354) It seems that the issue occurs randomly: we are experiencing this exception on most of our payment transactions, but there are some cases of users that have correctly paid on our site using this method and in those cases this error did not appear. We installed the new certificate on our servers on July 3rd 2025 and renewed on Aug 7th 2025. The new certificate validity is: Not Before: Aug 6 18:43:52 2025 GMT Not After : Nov 4 18:08:57 2025 GMT I must specify that this issue is blocking the correct placement of AppleyPay orders of our customers. Can you please help us find the problem and a possible solution?

App ID Configuration - Capabilities state inconsistency
Hello, I am experiencing an issue with the Apple Pay capability on my App ID. I have created a Merchant ID. I enabled Apple Pay in the App ID configuration and linked it to the merchant. However, sometimes when I revisit the App ID in the Apple Developer portal, the Apple Pay capability appears disabled, even though I saved it. This happens intermittently; at some times the capability is correctly shown as enabled, and other times it disappears. Context: I am using Expo Managed Workflow with EAS Build for iOS. The issue prevents the provisioning profile from including Apple Pay, which causes Stripe isPlatformPaySupported function to return false on ios devices. Attached: Screenshots of the App ID page showing Apple Pay enabled and disabled. Could you please advise why the capability is not being consistently saved, and how to ensure it stays enabled? Thank you,

Apple Pay fractional amounts for RSD
Hello all, I’m helping a customer integrate Apple Pay, and I’m seeing a behavior I can’t fully explain. I hope someone here can help clarify whether this is expected or whether it’s a bug / misconfiguration on my side. Currency: RSD (Serbian Dinar) Amount: 3.45 RSD (two decimals) Result: Apple Pay cancels the payment automatically when the amount includes decimals, without even displaying the paymentsheet. Things I have checked: ISO 4217 defines RSD with 2 minor units, so fractional amounts like 3.45 should be valid. Processors treat RSD as a two-decimal currency. Apple’s documentation does not provide a per-currency decimal rule table. In testing, whole-number RSD amounts succeed, while fractional amounts (e.g. 3.45 RSD) fail. I did not encounter this problem with other currencies like EUR, USD. Has anyone encountered this issue before?

Inquiry regarding the domain, when the two companies merge
'Company A' is scheduled to merge with its parent company, 'Company B'. Both A and B have Apple accounts. A's account has one domain registered for Apple Pay integration, while Account B has no domain registered. We attempted to register A’s domain under B’s account. However, the notification 'Requested domain name has been verified previously.' appeared, and we could not complete the registration. Please confirm whether it is correct that a domain already registered under Account A cannot be registered again under Account B. If we cannot register same domain in two accounts, we believe that the domain registered under A's account must be deleted first and then registered under B's account. In that case, will payments become unavailable immediately upon deletion of the domain, or will payments still be possible for a certain period of time after deletion? In our testing, we found that payments were not blocked immediately, but we would like to confirm further. We are concerned about the possibility of transaction failures during the short period between deleting the domain from A's Account and registering it under B's Account.

Implementing multiple payment gateways on same domain
Hi Everyone, My team is working on an online marketplace for FMBs in Saudi Arabia (with a plan to expand to other markets later). We are currently working on integrating multiple payment gateways with embedded Apple Pay support into our platform. We’ve encountered an issue with the apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association file. Based on advice from one of our payment partners, we've ensured that the domain association file is uploaded in the correct format. This works successfully with our first payment gateway. However, for the additional payment gateways we are integrating, we would also like to enable Apple Pay with embedded support. The challenge is that each payment gateway requires its own domain verification, but the verification file uses the same file name. This prevents us from supporting multiple gateways on the same domain. Has anyone in the house been able to implement a similar solution, or know how we can best implement this? Please, I'll appreciate advise on how we can configure Apple Pay domain verification to support multiple payment gateways on the same domain? Any specific guidance or best practices would be greatly appreciated. Best regards,

Apple Pay Merchant Identity Certificate - renewal problems
We are having trouble trying to renew our Apple Pay Merchant Identity Certificate. We can create the CSR file and add to the developer portal. We then convert this to a .pem and then a .p12. When we test the certificate in Postman however, we see the following error: "statusMessage": "Payment Services Exception pspId=xxxx unauthorized to process transactions on behalf of merchantId=xxxx reason=xxxx is not a registered merchant in WWDR and isn't properly authorized via Mass Enablement, either.", "statusCode": "417" We are sending the following POST request to 'https://apple-pay-gateway.apple.com/paymentservices/paymentSession': {"merchantIdentifier": "merchant.com.xxxx.applepaytest", "domainName": "beta-xxxx.com", "displayName": "beta-xxxx.com"} Anyone got any ideas what the issue may be? In the meantime I will look at completing our domain verification as that is also due soon and we thought it may possibly have something to do with the certificate issues we are seeing.

Payment Services Exception Unauthorized
We’re attempting to call the Apple Pay Web Merchant Registration API using our Platform Integrator flow and consistently receive 401 Unauthorized, despite successful TLS/mTLS. Details: Endpoint: https://apple-pay-gateway-cert.apple.com/paymentservices/registerMerchant (POST) Payload: { "domainNames": ["breakerfy.com"], "encryptTo": "platformintegrator.ai.packman", "partnerInternalMerchantIdentifier": "merchant.ai.packman.1", "partnerMerchantName": "breakerfy", "merchantUrl": "https://breakerfy.com" } Domain association: URL: https://breakerfy.com/.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association What we tried: We created a Payment Platform Integrator ID (platformintegrator.ai.packman) We created a CertificateSigningRequest We used the certificate signing request to create an Apple Pay Platform Integrator Identity Certificate and downloaded the signed certificate. We exported the Private Key from keychain access in PKCS 12 format We converted both the private key and the signed certificate to PEM format We created a merchant id We used the converted keys to send requests to the API We received { "statusMessage": "Payment Services Exception Unauthorized", "statusCode": "401" } we also tried curl with the original p12 file and also had no luck. What could be the issue ?

Identifying Card Type (Credit/Debit) Before Transaction Initiation – Apple Pay
PLATFORM AND VERSION iOS Development environment: Xcode Version 16.2 (16C5032a), macOS 14.6.1 Run-time configuration: iOS 26 DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM We would like to seek clarification on how to determine whether a card used via Apple Pay is a credit or debit card before sending the transaction request. Currently, we can retrieve the card type information (credit/debit) from the Apple Pay response payload, but this is only available after the payment has been processed. However, we need to determine the card type in advance, as our system calculates and applies transaction fees based on the card type, which should be added to the total transaction amount before submission. Could you please advise if there is any parameter, API field, or pre-authorization mechanism available to identify the card type prior to initiating the transaction request? We would appreciate your guidance or any related documentation for implementing this. STEPS TO REPRODUCE Initiate Apple pay Payment from Apple pay Getting payload we can retrieve the card type information (credit/debit) from the Apple Pay response payload, but this is only available after the payment has been processed. We need to identify if there's any way to know the card user selected(whether it is credit/debit) before processing the payment.

Apple Wallet Extension Implementation
Hello Dear Network, We are developing a banking application and are implementing Apple Wallet In-App Provisioning with Wallet UI and Non-UI extensions. Our App Store submission fails with the error: "Missing entitlement com.apple.developer.payment-pass-provisioning" for both Wallet UI and Non-UI extensions. In the Apple Developer portal, we do not see the "Apple Pay" or "In-App Provisioning" capabilities available for our App ID or extension App IDs. We would like to request enablement of: Apple Pay Payment Pass Provisioning In-App Provisioning for our Apple Developer Team and related App IDs. Please let us know what we need to do for can upload build with that Entitlements, what can be problem? Thank you.

Unable to retrieve secure element pass after adding to Apple Wallet?
I am adding In-App provisioning to my app. I am able to access the Apple Pay Sandbox and I have successfully tested adding a secure element/payment pass to Apple Wallet. However, once the pass has been added to the wallet, I can not access or retrieve the pass from my app. I have confirmed with the PNO that the PNO Pass Metadata Configuration in the testing environment include the correct metadata for "associatedApplicationIdentifiers" and "associatedStoreIdentifiers". Does anyone know why I am having this issue and how I can resolve it? Steps used to access pass in Apple Wallet I am unable to view the pass when I attempt to access it using the PKPassLibrary function as follows: let library = PKPassLibrary() if #available(iOS 13.4, *) { // This returns an empty array library.passes(of: .secureElement) } else { // This also returns an empty array library.passes(of: .payment) } // This returns an empty array too library.passes() Steps used to add pass to Apple Wallet These are the steps I follow to add the card: I create a PKAddPaymentPassRequestConfiguration I use this config to instantiate a PKAddPaymentPassViewController. I provide the nonce, nonceSignature, and certificates to my PNO along with the card data. I receive the activationData, encryptedPassData, and ephemeralPublicKey from my PNO and create a PKAddPaymentPassRequest using this data. I add the pass to Apple Wallet. In the addPaymentPassViewController callback, I am able to view the pass data from the .didFinishAdding pass: PKPaymentPass? variable. I am also able to see that the pass has been added from Apple Wallet app. I am not able to access the pass using PKPassLibrary().passes() at this point. I am not able to access the pass at any point after adding it either.

Multiple Apple Pay relationships with differing apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association files
I've encountered an issue where we need multiple domain associations with separate Apple Pay implementations. Briefly, we have a /.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association already setup with Stripe, and now we need another, different version of the file to get setup with FreedomPay. FreedomPay insists this file represents a three-way relationship between all parties and I have no reason to disbelieve them. I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this or if there is a standard procedure. I'm currently trying to find documentation on the exact way Apple Pay verification interacts with this file to see if we can produce it dynamically.

How to Adding credit or debit cards from a card issuer’s website
Hi, I understand that it's possible to add a virtual debit or credit card from a mobile app into the iOS Wallet using PassKit from the Apple SDK. However, I haven't come across documentation on how to achieve this directly from a web app. I found this article on Apple's support site (https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/security/secdc2567239/web), which mentions adding cards from a card issuer’s website, but it doesn’t provide details on the process. Could you please confirm if it's possible to add a card directly from a web app without using a mobile app? If so, could you guide me to the relevant documentation? Thanks in advance!

Apple Pay Merchant Token on Web
Hello. I have a few questions about the implementation of Apple Pay payments on websites. Could you help me From the documentation: Apple Pay issues an Apple Pay Merchant Token if the user’s payment network supports merchant-specific payment tokens. Otherwise, Apple Pay issues a device token for the payment request. How can we determine whether a token is a merchant token or a device token? Is it possible to determine this by any of the token fields? https://developer.apple.com/documentation/passkit/payment-token-format-reference Is it possible to understand this in other ways? Can I make recurring payments with the device token if it was issued instead of the merchant token? Is it necessary to include the tokenNotificationURL when generating a merchant token, or can we generate one without specifying it? What does the applicationExpirationDate field in the merchant token represent? Is this the date when the device token or merchant token expires and payments cannot be made with it?

The purchaseDate timestamp on Apple's renewal orders is always 8 hours later than the time the notification is received.
Hello everyone. I encountered a problem when integrating Apple Pay. I obtained all the renewal orders through the Apple interface, and their purchaseDate is 8 hours later than the actual payment time. Why is this happening? According to the documentation, the purchaseDate value provided by Apple is a millisecond timestamp that represents the actual payment time of the user, so theoretically there shouldn’t be any timezone issues. This works well in client-initiated subscriptions, but in renewal scenarios, the purchaseDate becomes unreliable. Could this be due to some configuration in the configuration center? For example, I actually received an Apple notification at 1746686911000 (2025-05-08 06:48:31 Etc/GMT). However, the data returned by the Apple interface is as shown below: { "appAccountToken": "xxxx", "bundleId": "xxxx", "currency": "GBP", "environment": "Production", "expiresDate": 1762616831000, "inAppOwnershipType": "PURCHASED", "isUpgraded": false, "offerDiscountType": "", "offerIdentifier": "", "offerType": 0, "originalPurchaseDate": 1746456432000, "originalTransactionId": "320002311698411", "price": 39990, "productId": "xxxx", "purchaseDate": 1746715631000, "quantity": 1, "revocationDate": 0, "revocationReason": 0, "signedDate": 1746687092825, "storefront": "GBR", "storefrontId": "xxxx", "subscriptionGroupIdentifier": "xxxx", "transactionId": "320002315815857", "transactionReason": "RENEWAL", "type": "Auto-Renewable Subscription", "webOrderLineItemId": "320001062124562" } You can see that the purchaseDate is 1746715631000 (2025-05-08 14:48:31 Etc/GMT), which is even later than the current time. Can someone explain this behavior that is inconsistent with the documentation, or did I do something wrong? I would be very grateful for any help anyone can provide.

In App Provisioning PKErrorHTTPResponseStatusCodeKey=500
Hello, we are developing in app provisioning of our American Express network cards. After clicking add to apple wallet in our app, I launch the PKAddPaymentPassViewController and click next. It loads for a few seconds and then I get: [<private>] ProvisioningOperationComposer: Step '<private>' failed with error Error Domain=PKProvisioningErrorDomain Code=5 UserInfo={PKErrorHTTPResponseStatusCodeKey=500} Does anyone have any insight on what this error means?
